Sure 2001 was a disgrace on the field, but when the FIXture was released we were the second best club in the comp. that didn't translate into a second best fixture, so don't give me that. Until you pointed that out I hadn't really appreciated just how bad financially our fixture was. As you emphasize, all our home games are crap, and all our games vs high drawing clubs are (artificially) designated away games. At OUR home ground to add insult to injury. How can that be justified? Gives more credence to my earlier suggestion that all gates should be shared between those who put on the show, especially where the home or away designation is totally artificial.

And how about Fitzpatrick??

Severely capping rotations would force players to spread a bit more and not all run to the stoppage ad infinitum as they would get exhausted trying. Sure reward the tackler but don't excessively penalties the poor bugger who goes in and gets it......so if, as so commonly happens, the guy with the guts to get the ball is monstered and goes to ground with a pack of players lying on his back pay in the back!! In other words protect he ball player and only reward correct tackles; penal use incorrect tackles. Penalize all players going in to an opponent head down. This would result in far fewer ball ups around the ground. Boundary throw ins should be from 10 meters inside the boundary with two designated and separated rucks contesting. I like the idea of a zone around stoppages though I have no idea how incompetent umpires could possibly police it fairly.

An old hobby horse: two teams put on every game. Why should one scoop the gate and the other gets nothing. Even more absurd for games at the G between two teams that call it home. Surely the gate should be pooled. Now it is the luck of the FIXture eg EssnDrug always play us at our ground as the home team, and we play Magpies as home team. Or at the risk of sounding like a bleeding socialist, let the AFL pay the 'running costs' for the day then pool the gate for the whole round and split it 18 ways.

I tend to agree re JKH. Reads the play well and needs game time to get it right. I would think that one (or more) of ANB, Stretch, Harmes may get a 'rest' at Casey. They have had a look, know what is needed, and what to work on.

Ah yes. What a horrible game that was. Don't forget that TGNWS was furious with #5 for going so far forward, but did forgive him when the siren sounded :-))) The 'fatigue ' shown especially by young players late in the season is probably partly mental burn out and also a result of unaccustomed battering and bruising than pure lack of endurance then.

Sure a win is a win. But seriously, 3 goals after quarter time, and one after half time is pretty sad. Any team other than Brisvegas would have thrashed us. A very hollow win. But as I started, a win is a win.

i would be pretty sure that our new linkage and development team would dictate that most eligible players would be playing. Maybe if one or two need off season surgery they may miss, but not the disgraceful disrespect for the linkage shown two years ago.

He is starting to do a few good things, and a too early sub is pretty risky.
