Didn't Ross Lyon try that with Free a few years ago (and also at Geelong) - and it didn't work out at all well for them. As I recall it was the stimulus / knee jerk reaction to introduce the prefinals bye. Which in turn has slightly reduced the advantage of finishing top 4 vs 5-8.

If we beat everyone below us for the rest of the year the premiership will be a cakewalk. The other games won’t matter one iota.

Agree 100%, yet, like the last two non decisions in the Adelaide game, correct decisions at pivotal moments could well have changed the result. If that were to happen in a GF would there be more scrutiny?
