  1. Sure, but they didn’t have to endure a 7 hour round trip. No wonder Tommy Mc did his back. Hope they don’t take him to Perth which can only aggravate it. Give Weed another chance.
  2. Could this be just one more example of corruption at the top? (Just asking)
  3. As I said in another post, would not trust the AFL in any decision that involves us.
  4. Wouldn’t trust the AFL to “look sympathetically” on anything to do with MFC. However if TMcD has any back issues, especially is aggravated by flights, then now would be a good time to give him a week off and have a look at Weed. Then of course what if Weed were to have a flyer? (Would be a very nice dilemma though). Both very important players - do not risk any aggravation at all if any doubt.
  5. Outscored Q4? Just cannot bury opponents. ???
  6. Yes .. #4 in our last GF win, as CHF and back up ruck (though Graeme Wise usually ran all day). Also as I recall played CHB at times. I remember his breaking his collarbone in a blatant tunnelling incident I think v Hawthorn. He was also a key in our huge 2nd SF win over Collingwood in 1964 with 3 goals Never met him and of course interviews were pretty rudimentary those days but always seemed a friendly sort of guy. One more link gone from our last flag
  7. Just FFS keep winning and we will be top 2. So sick of depending on other results - have put up with this for nigh on 60 years.
  8. So, Superman, we should never try something out of the norm? Jimmy Stynes, Sean Wight?????
  9. I guess he didn’t have a crystal ball. And any chance we will analyze Carlscum’s goal kicking tonight, and have some “learnings”?
  10. Surely 'grandfathering' any already in the system at the time of change would be fair .... but then it isn't so it won't.
  11. Agree - what is the point of putting any time, effort or money into these - and of course the NSW and Q clubs still get their special considerations. YUK!
  12. Do you actually believe that? Fauci is now, having said that widespread vaccination would mean no masks, saying that masks indoors and out may "be needed" indefinitely, for all even primary school kids. This pandemic has seen a litany of mixed massages.
  13. ^^ picket and poita - agree 100% Especially with the ongoing threat of lockdowns that undoubtedly will go forward into 2022 and beyond, just set up an AFL Reserves competition with all Victorian teams involved. The interstate clubs can set up their own local competition. As it stands it is a total dogs' dinner, benefiting nobody.
  14. I think you may have misunderstood my post - not saying at all that petty > tomlinson. Just saying that Petty has done a sterling job replacing him, but also has a potential good KPP forward rôle up his sleeve.
  15. Surely it is essentially only one generation, the current one, who has had to grow up under the influence of antisocial media. He Jackson, other than looking knackered at the present, has performed admirably as a back up ruckman this year. However he has yet to show much aptitude as a KPP forward - it may be a matter of time, or maybe it will never come. That said he worked well with Weed when they played together (limited time and weird year) in 2020. Yes he has been surprisingly good in the backline this year, but if and when Tomlinson returns and hits form, what would we do with Petty? Play his as a Casey defender, or let him to continue development up forward?
  16. Geelong throw in close clinches as much as do Footscray.
  17. Has Burgess paced the training well? Who knows. I guess only time will tell. Early in the season we appeared to be doing far better in second halves and final quarters in particular. Not so now. And as regards some of our youth who started the season so well appearing well of the boil, I suspect the lack of VFL to asses replacements may have thrown a bit of a spanner in the works re planning of rotations and “resting / managing” these players, though the mid season bye didn’t seem to do much by way of refreshment. Again, time will tell, and we on these fora won’t have any say or influence.
  18. Not quite sure where to post this - Buddy a pretty hard elbow to the (usually) sacrosanct head =1 week. How many would, say, May or McDonald get for that? 2-3 would be my guess. But there is no corruption or even just bias in the MRO rulings, I am sure.
  19. Antioch - can you pinpoint why the change? Cause or effect??
  20. Would love more seeing him in rednblue
  21. They both played, as you will recall, in the 64 GF - Ken I think was 19th or 20th so I don’t remember if he got a run. A very sound pair of rovers.
  22. picket - just asking, have you actually seen Bowey in a match? I haven’t, and wonder how you are so confident about him. Salem is just so important - IMVHO his absence v Adelaide threw the defence totally out of sync and he hasn’t really been the same with any consistency since. If “resting” him this week could help him back to his best then sure maybe blood Bowey. Salem is one of our most important players for his disposal and calmness but also his organisation and leadership of the defence.
  23. I remember the day so we’ll - year 12 at school having seen MFC in finals every year since kindergarten. Just assumed it would always happen. Reading the “pink paper”, The Sporting Globe, which we used to go in to Flinders Street to collect with disbelief it dawned upon me that it was just possible we could miss finals that year, but of course all would be well after that ? Listened to the game from home having felt ill all week since Dr Duffy and his committee’s dreadful act of treachery.
  24. FFS picket - set shot goal kicking doesn’t depend on “finding his feet and place in the team” - it was absolutely inexcusable given that his impeccable kicking was one of his great selling points. Not calling for him to be dropped, but he should have a good hard look at himself. May well have cost us the game and top spot.
  25. Just saw on the news Franklin elbowing an opponent with a wild backward swing - “may get a week if unlucky”. Imagine if one of ours did that - “4-6 weeks”! Corruption reigns??
