  1. Alternate view could be she is priming herself to stick in the boots if we fail to win the flag.
  2. This was the flakiest bit of all from the Survey. The fact that 2 skippers think the Swans AND Dees miss the 8, AND another thinks the Cats will. As Ricky Gervais would say, "... are you having a laugh..." Just who is out their playing AFL footy with these opinions. Not Maxy at least. He can't vote for himself or his team.
  3. I lodged a written 'please expalin' to the Kardinia Park Stadium Trust. Their response was : "... ".....Thank you for your email. We appreciate your feedback and understand your frustration over the variance in parking fees for member and non-members. We will include your concerns in our discussions with the Geelong Football Club in preparation for the 2023 ALF season, as they are the event organiser for AFL match days and determine the parking fees. The Trust does not make any income from the parking fees collected on ALF game days. @GFC Memberships can you please pass onto your event management team. Please reach out if you have any further concerns. kind regards....." Thus the GFC as the Event Organiser under the Kardinia Park Stadium's delegation by their Act can charge whatever they like. And our extra $5 is a direct donation to Paddy's contract fees Given the elitist nature of the Cats re: pricing out ordinary folk I expect no change. Direct action on Game day with media present and/or absolute boycott of the Crown Land carparks by parking in surrounding streets will probablay be most effective way of addressing this. First cats home game is 22 April. Worth a check then if anyone is in the vicinity.
  4. Good call re Dunkley. Dogs 2022 Best and Fairest won by 20 votes from second. Must have an impact on midfield quality that we seem to be ignoring.
  5. Gerard Healy commented in hte first 1/4 on Goody playing young Judd McVee on Dusty, giving him a tatste of the big time . Did well , lost the odd one-on-one but great test McVee passed well IMO
  6. A common theme in the Stan doco 'Show me the money 2' , is that agents believe players first want to get a game, then play in successful teams, then money. I suspect this is true and will drive Kozzie. He'll always get a game anywhere, so where is his success trajectory. Dees have that covered too. Just hoping. But do we now hope for a Power implosion in the first few rounds, Koschy gets involeved and shoots his mouth off, Ken feels the heat, and Kozzie sees where the green grass is - @ the G.???? Not Adelaide oval. I think Luke's call was different, but he believed Freo showed something so it may be not too bad he thinks. - he hopes.
  7. Well put on Cornes process. I like Kane Cornes as he doesn't always toe the party line and has successfully built a 'Kaneo' brand around pseudo outspoken commentary. Its his job to do this in a 24 hr media cyle. He stands out from the blandness. But that's all he is and needs to be ignored on the Kozzie issue because of his perceived or real conflict of Interest (undeclared also in this case.) His other commentary, such as a recent call-out on Jake Stringer adds colour to the industry, but his Kozzie agenda is downright borne of self interest and dissappointing.
  8. Jack is built for aggressive finals leadership. If this is the worst from Pre season and he misses several weeks our list strength can cover him and I'll breathe a giant sigh of relief after the Tiges game if we have a clean bill of health.
  9. You seem to have found a new Board whipping boy topic now the election is over. Please give it a rest on this site. But in the spirit of being positive I'll answer one of your queries just to help. Q.2: A response likely would include that the FF is what it says, that is to future-proof the club ( a term used by the Board now). A sound inverstment sttategy will lock away long term much of the funds in well performing financial assets. e.g you get a better Term Deposit rate for 4 years instead of 6 months is a simple way to put it. The $10M cash if ring-fenced would be identified as working capital to run the club by Pert and the Board. Maybe for home base design development which would require substantial cash. The Board should not ever dip into the fund for capital works, non revenue-generating work. Norway adopted a similar model by investing all their profits from North Sea Gas into their own sovereign wealth fund. They now own around 1% of every listed company on the planet, or thereabouts. The income stream pays for their lifestyle, but capital remains locked away.
  10. Yes your on part of the Crown Land reserve managed by the Trust. Just next door to the swimming pool. Lengthy question sent off to the Trust last night. Stay tuned.
  11. Further to my outrage the following is the relevant clause under the Act which empowers the Trust to charge fees to a major event. (The Kardinia Park Trust Act 2016: "....KARDINIA PARK STADIUM ACT 2016 - SECT 38 Powers in relation to agreements and arrangements The power conferred on the Trust by an event management declaration to enter into agreements or arrangements with an event organiser may include agreements or arrangements relating to— (a) the organisation or conduct of the Kardinia Park event; or (b) the occupation and use by the event organiser of any part of the area to which the declaration applies; or (c) the fees to be charged by the event organiser for entry into the area to which the declaration applies and the payment of fees by the event organiser to the Trust...." Thus the fees are set with no necessary power by the event organiser (AFL in this case - and would they discriminate against Away members. I don't think so) to vary. I suspect the reply will be that the parking fee is set at $15.00 and cats fans receive a discount. If so, then the discounted amount MUST be paid to the Trust by the club, or its a true dicriminatory process for Away team members by the Trust for which they are not empowered. Their opening headline on their Trust website is:...... . WE PROUDLY RUN THIS STATE ASSET ON BEHALF OF THE PEOPLE OF VICTORIA. The people of Victoria is a key Crown land principle in the State. I'll seek a repsonse on behalf of the members and fans of 17 other AFL clubs.
  12. Exactly. I suspect this is the same legal context as the G. A Crown land reserve run by the MCGTrust. No way can the dees and tiges vary entry fees to that precinct. It only happens because its gone unchallenged. What we do is coordinate all entry points on game day to have a car load of dees supporters at each entry point simultaneously and call the bluff. And have the Herald sun on stand by. Anyway, In the first instance I plan to write a formal complaint to the Kardinia Park Trust and seek the authority and/or justification for this approach. Were you parking just in the general grassy areas surrounding the stadium and from which road did you enter? Moorabool st or Latrobe Terrace? This club has always been elitist now the new stadia have been built and good luck affording the seat prices for ordinary geelong folk.
  13. Thanks. I can' brleive this is allowed. First question to Attendant: " By what authority?" He / she will have no idea. Then turn off the engine till they offer $10 entry.
  14. Is this true, and if so exactly to which carparks do they apply this rule? Kardinia Park is Crown Land run by a Trust appointed by the State. The rule will breach the Crown Land Reserves Act on disciminatory grounds. Woudl love to see a bunfight over this if real.
  15. Post of the day. Thanks.
  16. It is reasonable to assume the following: 1. Those who voted in the Resolution, likely also voted for the Directors. You wouldn't bother to do one and not the other given the ease of the system. Thus only probably 10% of members voted. 2. Those 10% are likely to be engaged enough in the issue to bother. Like me. The election process was not an 'above the line' process, so just because someone voted Roffey, (like me) doesn't mean they were slack enough to vote for remaining incumbents or that their vote was then preferenced to the other incumbents. I read the statements and researched, and concluded those new candidates had less experience to be on the Board of a $60M plus business. 3. The electronic process was designed to save 100's of thousands on dollars and move us into the 21st century, a byproduct of more votes delivered isn't related. Look at the last State election. Lowest turnout and informals in history. Maybe Dees fans are a sample of the Vic electorate at large. Logic says this is possible. 4. yes, most members (90% ish) didn't bother. If a candidate can't convince me in 500 words of their background then they miss my vote. Being a died-in-the -wool demon tragic doesn't cut it at Board level. The last thing we want is emotional decision-making on most Board matters. Save that enthusiam for game day like me. And Kate. See you at moorabbin
  17. Many thnaks for this post 58er (and others along the same line) As an experieneced land/building development professional on Crown Land I don't envy Pert's task. My last project involved securing State apporval for the Crown land project, design development, consultaion with Community and Stakeholders and securing the $10M in funds to build from State and Federal resources. It took 10 years for the outcome. I have no doubt the team on this are doing their best. It will get done but first hand comments to me from some team members recently at a function noted Casey was "world Class" and wanted for nothing. It will have to do for now. Go Dees.
  18. Post of the week (and not in a Pollyanna way). Thanks.
  19. Agree also BDA , but his 2022 analysis of the failure was just another example of lazy analysis by an ex-player who didn't watch closely. In both Swans and Lions finals we were right in it and ahead at half time. As you say fatigue and injuries got us. We will go Top 4 for the 3rd time in 3 years this season, then its up for grabs finals time with luck.
  20. Buddy says " That's it!. I'm retiring at end of year. No way am I playing on Steven May for a further two years. Luckily I only have one more game to play on him" Wonderful news. 3 more years of wonderful backline leadership form May and Lever for our premiership standard defence.
  21. Nailed it on jordan vs hunter. I seem to remember Jordans first game i think was round 1 in 2021. Jordan started in the middle and seemed roght at home there. Huntets arrival allows james to get back to his strengths.
  22. many thanks for the offer. Can you spare a sentence on Lachie Hunter and first impressions. And Jake Bowey. What is he doing etc. Interested given SEN don't name him in best 23.
  23. A great post from a long way away Dee Fence on my current favourite subject. Thanks You've nailed the changes potentially in that at least 2, and sometimes 3, teams WILL drop out. The trick is who comes in. Could be a changing-of-the Guard moment for the likes of some classic recent powerhouses like the Tiges.
