  1. I like your attempt. If that was our round one team, I would be gutted. Several players from that will be vfl
  2. Brett Eddy. We need another KPF and he is the best of the rest, give him a run at Casey and see if he can develop after having good years in the SANFL. Then an ex-afl player, I'm thinking Jordan Schroder. This is for injury cover and basically will slot into that immediate upgrade that Trengoves long term injury presents
  3. Melbourne really needed to do well in this draft, 4 mids and a key defender is spot on what we needed and they are all really outstanding football players as well as genuinely competitive types. Alex Neal-Bullen was a steal and of anyone watched his pick me, he threw the words "loyalty and competitive" just what we need. Can be the start of an imposing midfield group.
  4. Yes. We need another developing key defender!
  5. was your source both the herald sun and age writers who mentioned it in articles today that were available for reading last night? all i heard was that he has major tickets on himself, nothing out of the ordinary. It was being looked into that he "didnt have the desire to play at AFL level" due to his average beep test and fitness results but at the end of the day this year he improved all of his figures, 3k, beep and 400m sprint significantly
  6. the lack of tall forwards in the next draft leads to a bit of an issue for StKilda, who have lost all confidence in Tom Lee and have fingers crossed on Spencer White. That is the only reason McCartin Sticks out for them surely. I personally would prefer McCartin and Brayshaw, but if we get Petracca and Brayshaw hopefully that gives us a quality midfield for many years to come. Would mean instead of trying to get Shiel from GWS we would need to throw money at a KPF free agent. That said there will no doubt be a key forward or two that shows promise next year and hopefully that leaves us in the market for them because we need one more tall forward, unless Fitzy comes on ridiculously this year.
  7. The thing that I am most looking forward to this year is that it is starting to look like we are developing depth through all the positions on the ground. Defensively we have a pretty good mix that can extend down especially with Roos liking to give midfielders a role on the back flank sometimes. Midfield depth and quality has increased and will continue to improve with the draft. Fwd 50 will improve with another tall, but the depth is great. What is good is that we have about 30 odd players competing for the 22 and whilst all of them may not be elite, the fact that we are starting to develop positional depth is a good sign.
  8. Intrigued by how we go about it, would have thought 17 would have been kept for Lovett via father son next year. But no big deal. All pretty understandable numbers, Brayshaw 10 and Mccartin 32 maybe?
  9. Whilst I'm not the biggest Neeld fan. I know for a fact Neeld had these im place aswell.
  10. Back flank is a little different to key position back, which is more what i was talking about with Lever. That said, JPK was a forward turned mid and Watts is being mould into a high hff/mid. I would love Dangerfield in our team, but i am still of the thought that he is overrated by most especially in media.
  11. its an interesting thing in regards to Lever, because from what i heard Melbourne have him as clear fourth and the second medical testing that is now available to the clubs was a blessing. i still think that we will be taking a key forward unless Petracca and Brayshaw are both available, but Brayshaw and Lever were interviewed fora longer period of time than any of the other recruits by the MFC. It is a very interesting period, because i don't think that the best defender in the 18s (despite not playing this year) will be turned into a midfielder.
  12. the way our list sits a midfielder and a forward are our best bet, the fact that we have 3 developing fwd/rucks, indicates that a clear power forward is the best option. Brayshaw and McCartin and then its anyones guess with what we take after that.
  13. It gives him the chance to prove himself and if he can continue with the form of last year he will be playing games for the red and blue. That said last year his biggest problem was slotting into the midfield and often played as a small forward. From what i have heard two clubs are pretty heavily interested in him, one of which is fremantle but he is hoping to stay in victoria
  14. He is an overly cocky under talented forward. Dawes, Hogan, Pederson, Gawn, Fitzy and then mccartin leave us pretty covered in this area I think.
  15. was going to make this exact point. Roos not only was responsible for his resigning but heaped praise on him at his end of season interview from what i heard. i remember i was lucky enough to have purchased this "recruiters experience" or something of the kind, and it coincided with Jesse Hogan presser, but had a chat with Todd Viney about either of Jed Anderson and Barry and he said how Barry addressed key issues that our list was deficient on as opposed to Anderson. Dom Barry performed well as a tagger in the vfl and I personally think he did battle well against Hill, despite other posters having the opposite opinion. Good luck to the fella, would not be surprised to see him on our rookie list if he ever does return.
  16. I don't agree. Players have been doing Medicals at other clubs plenty of times to not get picked up. They had not even discussed the details. Elliot Kavanagh from essendon did several fitness tests but to no avail. At the end of the day the foot injury is a big one and here's hoping he recovers. I think we will extend his contract throughout the year if it looks to be healing well
  17. to be fair Sam Blease is an absolute runt and the fact that Roosy didnt want him is a fair indication that he is not the kind of player that will succeed in our new environment. doubt he will break into Geelongs team, but they would be upset due to losing Christiansen
  18. Eddy from the SANFL
  19. Look our midfield depth is not yet where it needs to be, but both lumumba and Garlett will spend time in the middle and by holding onto 2/3 including stretch we will have added to our midfield depth.
  20. Trade period we were able to address a few key issues. -kp defenser depth -midfield speed/depth -small forward Puts us in a good position for the draft and to share a delisted free agent. Would have been massive winners had we kept pick 23
  21. Was shaping as a number 1 pick from last year. Could be a bit like Dyson Heppell in terms of injury ridden, but still a jet
  22. I have heard that they want a pick in the 8-15 region in order to pick up Jake Lever, who they do not want to pull the trigger with 2 or 3 on. That said I personally don't like the idea of trading Trengove, but I am certain that Roos has the best interest of the club in his head. So I will back him.... Please just be doing it to get an offer for Toumpas or someone else please!
  23. We also need a KP forward. Dawes, Hogan, Pederson, Fitzy and Gawn. Won't really cut it, but if we get Dixon in that probably fills the gap. Although wright/mccartin is probably ideal
