I guess if Howe continues to improve and Cook amounts to nothing we can say we did well out of the year. Drafting is a lottery there is no guarantee that an early pick will be very good as a senior player. The game is littered with first round players who did not make it.

This is probably old fashion but if you kick 6+ goals a game I could not care if you ever chase . 6 x 22 = 132 PA. Let the defenders chase you. Yes I am from a different time.

I saw Cook twice last year in the flesh and a couple of times on ABC TV games. At no time did he fill me with delight. However he seemed to be the third or fourth option with fev playing as well as Dunn , Bate etc playing a lot of games at Casey. Then he got injured with a resulting operation very late in the season. From the comments I have read it seems he had a limited pre season. That probably is the reason he has not figured in the NAB games. It would appear he has had a couple of reasonable games with Casey so far. Will he make it? Who knows, as some mentioned earlier he is a tall bean pole at present. I serious doubt he is close to playing in the seniors at present. He is evidently a nice kid but will a nice skinny kid make it at AFL level? My biggest query is will he get heavier? Is he another Morton. Some guys stay skinny. I doubt he will be much use to the seniors this side of 2014 He is a first round pick and as such IMO we have no choice but to continue with him.

It will go on like this for weeks. The whole thing is a pain in the rear. An unneeded distraction to everyone at the MFC

You maybe correct in some of the things you say bing But none of the ones you name went for more than a few days. There was a problem, a collection of evidence and the decision metered out all in less than a week. This one is going to be in the news constantly for at minium the next 2 months. There will be 60 minutes segments if not before the court case than imediately after it. The sore will be constantly picked ever week until there is a resolution later in 2012. This is far from the normal player management issue.

Unfortunately SD I think we are in for a few more in 2012. The player stocks are the player stocks. I can think of 6 games were big margin losses are almost a shoe in.

WJ it appears to me that these situations are extremely hard to control / resolve. Look at the saints and the school girl problems. That clearly had an impact on the saints in spite of all they said and did. Are Neeld and company that much better ? I have no idea. Our collective club never seemed to get on top of the TS situation. I do not have a lot of confidence the addition of Neeld will make much of a difference to the current problem. I hope they do / can. Neeld has enough to fix in 2012 he does not need this problem. Whatever everyone's talents we are stuck with the problem and time will tell how it impacts.

WYL i was not just meaning the effect it has on the playing group More the club as a whole. From this one member I am close to over it all ready and it has hardly started. Yes wyl I really hate it and from what I have seen i don't think the 2012 version is much better. I sent it back as you probably know. Where should we hold the ritual cremation mate? Outside gate 2 or would the dome be more appropriate we have been burned there fairly often. Having incinerated it we could spread the ashes through Yarra park. I was trying to stay off this thread but cannot help myself. I do not think Essendon have changed there red in my memory. Why is it that that Sydney and Essendon have reds that do look pink under lights / Tv and yet our reds do have pink tinges and have for some years. Why cannot we get the red right? We are accused of playing bruise free football so I guess the pink suits But it really gets up my nose. My father told me a long time ago " son at least look the part" Why the hell do we constantly have jumpers that look pink and scarves that look Maroon.

Are we all? It is only the 5th day and I am starting to tire of it. like TS last year it will be a big distraction for at min. of the next 4 months. Our season will be sealed by then. It could again drain the club as in 2011. During that period He will probably not play through injury. So we have no input from him on the field and all the distraction of the off field stuff. Is the value there. Having said that we bought him to the outside world and we should support him. But there is going to be a high cost to that i fear.
