Attrition starting to hit some of our rivals big names. Robbie Gray and Mitch Duncan look like they will be out for a while with knee injuries. Hope our boys stay safe.

Port Adelaide true to form smashing up on a weak side. Flat track bullies. And Suns are playing badly enough to be a danger game for us when we meet.

When will Melbourne break these embarrassing records?
John Crow Batty replied to praha's topic in Melbourne Demons
All too often losing when hugely favoured to win not an embarrassing record but a monkey on our backs that needs eradication. -
Next weeks cats away to the lions and bulldogs away to the eagles. They could both lose. Just super critical we beat the Dons.
-
And how many of these ‘tough guy’ types end up as commentators. Lynch, Hall, Brereton, Mooney, Hunt, Dyer, Whitten, Taylor, Dipper, Campbell Brown to name a few. There’s media currency in thug behaviour.

Bulldogs have to prove they can take on powerful clubs in hostile environments. Big game for them tonight.

Interesting comparing Weid with Josh Schache and Tom Boyd at the Bulldogs. All high draft picks. All average around 9 touches, 1 goal and one contested mark. Boyd played 5 seasons and now gone. Schache into his 6th season as with Weid. Boyd and Weid both played their best game in a final but could never build on it. Schache has played only one game this season and destined for the chop.

I recall seeing one reversed a long time ago but can’t remember the exact incident or date. Shame we didn’t scream and yell to get that Adelaide non DOOB reversed. But we ain’t AFL royalty like the filth.

If Ben Brown doesnt play the rest of the year
John Crow Batty replied to picket fence's topic in Melbourne Demons
Yep if Tmac, Kozzie and Weid kicked a modest 1 goal each we might have won. We were way below our points average. -

Because we are seriously in the hunt for flag this season we need to put the best available 22 on the park. BB and MB have not been given enough opportunity to make their case that they belong at the pointy end for the remainder of the season. Weid had had his chance and come up short by a long margin and now back to development. Whether he remains on our list to be decided at end of season. -

If Petty wasn’t required to defend he would I believe make a decent forward. -
I believe Petty might be an experimental option up forward in the right circumstances. He’s done well on the few occasions playing in attack.

It’s been our best start that I can remember. Still we have to exorcise a lot of demons. We are entering the real business end of the season. We were bad yesterday and now again we have to reset the “proof” meter. The Weid experiment is over. BB coming back and we need new tricks to refresh the forward line and shape our entries around him. Clearances need improving . Yesterday only 1 goal from our 3 leading goal kickers suggest some staleness there.

At Casey.

Weid has played 5 in row plus the bye. Brown’s ready if that is the case.
-
For sure he is being carried because of our good form. We could afford to let him play himself into form. Same as Jones fast tracked to his 300 and then dropped. On form he was barely adequate. If we were 3-3 he would have taken the rest of the season to reach the milestone.

Scully, Watts, Grimes and Trengove were disappointments as well for different reasons. It took nine seasons to work out Watts was never going to be the real deal. But we were crap then and clinging to delusions. Now 6 seasons of patience is enough to say let’s move on.

Any results that increase separation between us and 3rd and below are no brainers to consider.

Average pressure acts for all MFC players today, 13 each.

How many more games or seasons?

Also what’s with Trac and Tmac? Rarely share the ball between each other and have words occasionally. When Trac got his goal he had Tmac free in a better position in the goal square waiting for an easy over the top hand pass. Trac doesn’t like to share near goals and lets teammates know about if this they reciprocate in kind.

Good point but we have the track record of derailing our season when running hot by losing to poor teams. Next two rounds are huge games. Our percentage is also vulnerable because we haven’t piled on big wins when we have had the opportunity.
-
I don’t believe negotiations will be protracted anymore. Weid will be lucky to be offered base salary assuming he doesn’t get the chop.
-
Both Tmac and Fritsch had poor games but both got the ball twice more than Weid, hit the scoreboard and had more tackles. Most of the side had a poor game. Weid was the only hopeless one.

This guy has the chance to add a half million a year to his next contract by performing. Not made of the right stuff.
