  1. I'll watch it after the game but won't bother if we lose.
  2. I am really hoping for a big effort to bury once and for ever this emabarrasing losing streak. Don't want to see another Harlem Globetrotters Vs Washington Generals game.
  3. Better if they took their time and did a proper job to let the ground recover. It may be in crap condition for most of the season now due to haste.
  4. Maybe they should be reported to workcover? ......on second thoughts that's likely a waste of time.
  5. I am sure the AFL has contingency plans for late change of venues. They better play it safe. How can newly laid turf settle in less than a week? My neighbours turf laid last spring in optimal conditions took about a month to knit properly with the soil.
  6. Good, move the game to the MCG.
  7. In the last home and away round the Bulldogs were the second worst team in the competition for that round.
  8. How can one blame Melbourne supporters for disparaging Etihad given the grief we always suffer there?
  9. When we start playing like the bulldogs I might jump on the Macca the Mini Messiah bandwagon.
  10. It's kind of irksome missing a vital sponsor. Aside from the money it adds to the general perception we are second rate and no one cares. We have to start winning emphatically and playing with spirit to get that loser monkey off our back. I'm sure those two disgraceful performances at the end of last season have hurt us in this regard. Difficult for potential sponsors to associate with us given the image we present on the field. I hope something comes up soon.
  11. Yep. Funny how memory and time plays tricks. I believe we had the game in the bag though and they had a late goal. I was so excited by our win and Jako's performance that it all seemed more emphatic than it was. Moorabin was normally such a miserable place for us.
  12. Good point. There remains a conga line of ball butchers now. Looking at the Jakovich highlights there was some seriously good delivery to him. But I am still conflicted by our recent great wins against Geelong and Hawthorn sans Hogan. There was some great fluid forwardline efficiency in those games rarely seen in the last decade.
  13. A few more highlights against the cheaters.
  14. Jakovich was great at leading but you could also plonk the ball on top of his head in the goal square and he was lethal at ground level. There was no gorilla backman that could outmuscle him. When his attitude was right he was perhaps the most complete offensive forward in the game. He had two weaknesses though that were consistent throughout his career. He was very selfish and his defensive pressure was extremely poor and criticised even in a day when forward defensive pressure was not deemed as important as it is today.
  15. Enjoyed the game. Some real good ball movement today and they deserve to get to the GF.
  16. Would be good if Hogan led like Jackovich. He would be unbeatable.
  17. I was at that game and we beat them easily in a surprise win. He upstaged Lockett and the Saints fans were shocked. He kicked 8.7 till 3/4 time and shut up shop for the rest of the day. Must have felt tired.
  18. He used to treat gun full backs with contempt. He embarrassed and kicked sand in the face of Danny Frawley and Mick Martyn. He had deep character flaws though. Burned a lot of bridges before he came to us. I recall reading he was sacked from a SANFL club for stealing money from other players wallets in the locker rooms amongst his many colourful adventures.
  19. As long as we are in it I don't care. Personally I wouldn't mind a Sunday 4.45 pm GF. We will have the time slot advantage.
  20. Now it will be Hird the shock jock for the next decade or so. A cornucopia of bile and fake news coming.
  21. Hird is back in the mainstream and feeling better. A couple of years ago I said after all this is over he could only get a job at the Murdoch Hun. And now he has a job with News Corp. Surprise surprise! Best of luck. http://www.theage.com.au/afl/james-hird-says-overdose-the-result-of-years-of-continual-stress-20170316-gv00i6
  22. Too valuable a player. Put him in cotton wool for the season and save him for the finals.
  23. Goodwin is telegraphing early on his delistings at end of season.
  24. Our line in the sand is our biggest weakness. We have enough talent to smash the saints all over the ground. I hope the players realise that talent is the least that is required.
  25. Apart from the great success of the women's league this has been the most boring and low key preseason I can remember. Could it be an omen for us? Not surprised many are not listening. I'm not.
