  1. Every time I hear something about Hogan, Brendon Fevola crosses my mind. It’s like an ear worm that won’t go away. And Fevola hasn’t played for a long long time.
  2. The old valve radios had a beautiful mellow sound.
  3. In 1964 we were living in Powlett St, East Melbourne opposite the MCG, I was 8 years old. The family moved from Collingwood earlier that year. I was already a Melbourne supporter and Barassi was my favourite player. We never went to the games as my dad had to work at the nearby brewery but listened on the radio. A highlight was most Saturday’s when there was a game on my brother and I used to sit on the fence and watch the crowd. I remember hordes of fans passing our front wrought iron fence with their coloured scarfs, beanies and floggers coming up from the Victoria St tram going to and and leaving the games. Richmond still played at Punt Road though so there were always a majority of Melbourne colours parading by most games. After the GF a delirious drunken Melbourne supporter in a suit and fedora hat gave us a two pound note which was small fortune for us then. That’s my memory of the game. A lifetime has gone by since then.
  4. Too many dreamers thinking Cerra is trade material. Like us trading Viney or Oliver after their first season.
  5. Just awesome. Can’t believe the crowd. Just like 1964.
  6. An unselfish Boomer Harvey if there is such a thing.
  7. Gets a lot of close checking and rough stuff from opponents. That’s why he whinges a lot to umpires. The opposition know not to give him space because he is dangerous in one to one contests and if he gets the ball and into space he is lethal.
  8. Andrew Brayshaw forgives Gaff https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/brayshaw-forgives-remorseful-gaff-for-sickening-punch-20180809-p4zwm0.html
  9. Thanks for the correction.
  10. Not surprising really. The West Australian is another one of Rupert Murdoch’s newspapers of anything for a buck fake news.
  11. Good to see Angus weigh in and say for the tribunal to just deal it with and then move on. Gaff will be suspended for remainder of the season IMO. Sounds like there will be no grudges from the Brayshaw’s and hopefully he comes to us next season. WC’s defence of Gaff is just slobery sucking up in an attempt to keep him.
  12. 6 to 8 years for manslaughter.
  13. I got king hit once on the footy field in my short career. Suffered a broken nose and a cracked wrist when I fell. The culprit later apologised and we got on fine after that. Everyone’s different but who knows how this will pan out.
  14. Just give him his 10 weeks and move on.
  15. Gaff would have to make his peace with the Brayshaw family and to secure Angus’s forgiveness and blessing for Gaff to come here. Years ago Tony Lockett playing for the Saints decked and injured badly Peter Caven from the Swans. Next season Lockett went to the Swans and Caven was not happy, asked for a trade and went to the Crows. The diffence is Gaff is not known for thuggery as Lockett was.
  16. Then the AFL should double his penalty to send a message to supporters and players that laud this kind of behaviour.
  17. Constable Thomas Lonigan who was murdered by Ned Kelly. The face is vaguely familiar.
  18. I like his mongrel. Every good side has more than one. Without him we would only have Viney.
  19. Since we only play one way we don’t need a set of goal posts to defend.
  20. Last season the post Darwin shockers were delayed for when we played North in Tassie two weeks later and also the following week against GWS. Then we were flat for the remainder of the season. We might be better off not turning up and conceding the Darwin game. Better for our finals chances.
  21. Sounds like wiseguy is his speech writer.
  22. I did not have much to say about him as I had not seen him play. It was like asking a toddler to crawl across Hoddle St at 1pm on a red light. The kid is no way near ready and was criminal to play him.
  23. I live 10 minutes walk away and know the area well. I invite you to take a solo walk there after 11pm to prove you are blameless.
  24. I don’t think this project will get off the ground. There will be a lot of outrage, opposition and resistance to turn over underutilised open ground near the city and MCG to a mere football club. The NIMBY jungle drums are already rattling. Other than during sporting events this land is generally deserted during the day and only suitable for late night muggings, rape and murders for anyone foolish enough to find themselves there after darkness. Many of the outrage classes of various leanings prefer to keep it this way.
