  1. He should drop himself. Now that would be leadership. Is the game all about him or the future of the club?
  2. During WW2 the RAF lost all its experienced career pilots and squadron leaders within weeks of hostilities. Later on there were squadron leaders that were only 18-19 years old running the show and doing a heroic job. However it is easier to replace leaders due to attrition. Difficult to shoe horn out current encumbents due to pecking order and political considerations even if they are totally ineffective and over the hill without pain. Takes courage to make the big call and we will never know who can truly lead when opportunities are denied. Successful clubs make the ruthless decisions when they have too. We are leaving it a little late.
  3. A benefit of our finals charge last season has been prime time games. However bad losses have the effect of ruining most of ones weekend. 3 unwelcome miserable losses in a row and perhaps another coming next week. Starting to miss those late Sunday arvo games. At least we had the chance to enjoy most of our Saturday nights and the weekend. Thanks MFC.
  4. After being their whipping boys for a decade beating Hawthorn in a final must have been the pinnacle of achievement for some. The bath water flowed copiously and into the players heads. The immediate backslide since has been spectacular. Can it be reversed?
  5. ANB, Jones and Viney. A trio of wombats. Strong and good at rooting around the bottom of packs but slow in pace, execution and mind with limited skills. We can’t win with those three passengers the way they are playing. The others have more upside.
  6. As I recall McCartney did not leave the Bulldogs under happy circumstances.
  7. Thanks wiseguy..
  8. I change my mind when he makes the tough calls wiseguy. Like making some tough calls with your buddy ANB and Jones to name a couple and challenging the playing group. Now that’s what I call doing the hard work.
  9. Uncontracted and 0-3 = work butt off.
  10. I just hope May hasn’t brought GC standards and attitudes with him to the club.
  11. Plonk him in the goal square and tell him not to move unless called to chop out for Gawn. No interchange breaks for him.
  12. Compared to the rest of the competition we appear to have gone backwards at a horrendous rate. Last seasons wobbly sides like GC, Freo, Lions, Saints and even Carlton look like they can now mop the floor with us. Port and Dons already have.
  13. We clearly miss Lewis in organising the defence. Vince was pretty good also. Jones would not be much use. Never seen him organise anything. He just plays his own game.
  14. Been saying this for a long time. The best leadership Jones can show now is to drop himself. It seems the first question asked at selection is to where can we hide him on the field. Viney is now almost a carbon copy of Trengove in his final seasons with us. Clearly he plays hobbled and currently of limited value. Both huge liabilities across the middle with lack of pace and diminished skills. I question whether we can be any worse without their so called leadership on the field. Only one way to tell. If the old won’t go away then the new won’t come.
  15. Time to make the toughest decision and drop Jones. His time is up.
  16. Can’t win when it’s too hot, too cold and wet. Been like this since the WC debacle. Gee some of our players must have thought they win the flag when they beat the Hawks. We’ve nosed dived like a 737 MAX.
  17. Gawn can easily be worked off the ball rucking around the ground. Hawkins last week shoved him out of a ruck duel in their forwardline and kicked a goal. Also did exactly the same last season against him. Physical brutes can defeat him. Clubs have worked this out.
  18. Pity he cut his flowing dreadlocks. He could have been the new NikNat.
  19. Let’s hope it doesn’t turn out to be a Wagnerian Tragedy opera.
  20. Good to get these “line in the sand” games out of the the way early.
  21. Since we have come off a finals campaign for the first time in over a decade, apologists have to find some new ludicrous excuse to gild bad losses from the well worn ones when we were perennially bad.
  22. Sadly your prediction is only half right.
  23. Two Wagners does not make a win.
  24. Most sides are now playing two ruckman except for us. What gives?
  25. Kicking a torpedo is like callow youth trying too hard to score with the opposite sex. Nearly always a big embarrassing fail. Torps work better when a kicker is under no real pressure and does not try to kick the ball over the moon. Let it come natural. Same for drop kicks. In the modern pressure cooker game not a high percentage tactic unfortunately. When I was young I could kick a 60 metre drop kick casually with little effort during practice. During a game the man on the mark would more likely swallow the ball if I tried it.
