Mental toughness is finding a way to win when the other side is playing well and dominating key parts of the game. Also protecting a lead and not squandering 3-5 goal leads from mid third quarters and later. And not taking the foot off the pedal after taking an early handy lead. Plus finding a path to claw back a 3 to 4 goal deficit to win. Metal toughness means we can’t win them all but we play like we can. Mental toughness does not describe us. Having mental toughness would have given us at least 3 extra wins so far this season.

The Swans were all like little islands spread over the sea seemingly all alone. They just ping ponged the ball to each other and not a demon in sight to molest them. Smart teams know how to pick us apart piece by piece. The prognosis is not good.

Match Preview and Team Selection - Round 21
John Crow Batty replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
We never had a sniff in all those games. Completely smashed. 50 points our highest score. Hopefully things turn on Sunday. -
Three tough games coming up to prove our credentials. We just have to do it. Listening to SEN this AM and media in general there is still too much talk assuming we have made it already from pundits as well as fans. If we don’t make it we will have for consolation the unenviable record of being the highest scoring team in the league for 2018 and still miss out on finals. I believe it will be a unique record. Being 170 pts ahead of Richmond and over 250 pts ahead of the next best it is unlikely our points tally will be overtaken. All we will be left is that huge backhand compliment.

Andrew Brayshaw forgives Gaff https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/brayshaw-forgives-remorseful-gaff-for-sickening-punch-20180809-p4zwm0.html

Thanks for the correction.

Not surprising really. The West Australian is another one of Rupert Murdoch’s newspapers of anything for a buck fake news.
-
Good to see Angus weigh in and say for the tribunal to just deal it with and then move on. Gaff will be suspended for remainder of the season IMO. Sounds like there will be no grudges from the Brayshaw’s and hopefully he comes to us next season. WC’s defence of Gaff is just slobery sucking up in an attempt to keep him.

Petracca fined $1000 for umpire contact. Anyone see the incident?

6 to 8 years for manslaughter.

Last chance for Kennedy-Harris?
John Crow Batty replied to spirit of norm smith's topic in Melbourne Demons
Our structures look better since he has been in. If he is helping in that regard he stays. -
I got king hit once on the footy field in my short career. Suffered a broken nose and a cracked wrist when I fell. The culprit later apologised and we got on fine after that. Everyone’s different but who knows how this will pan out.

The current top five teams have all lost one game out of their last five. Very hot at the pointy end of the ladder.
-
He is such a robotic dead straight kick without the need for many nuances and allowances in his action that I believe the strong swirly winds got him yesterday. Like a bug infecting computer software.
-
Just give him his 10 weeks and move on.

Gaff would have to make his peace with the Brayshaw family and to secure Angus’s forgiveness and blessing for Gaff to come here. Years ago Tony Lockett playing for the Saints decked and injured badly Peter Caven from the Swans. Next season Lockett went to the Swans and Caven was not happy, asked for a trade and went to the Crows. The diffence is Gaff is not known for thuggery as Lockett was.

On big footy there are over 6 pages from the WC forum on this. Most think he will get 3 to 4 weeks whilst a minority thinks he will get 5 or more. The majority are dreaming that he might be back for late finals. I believe 6 will be the minimum as what Bugg got but the injury damage is far worse so could be 8.
-
Then the AFL should double his penalty to send a message to supporters and players that laud this kind of behaviour.
-
Fans are hungry. They haven’t tasted much blood in the past decade.
-
Are you serious? The guy is in hospital.
-
Brayshaw off to hospital in an ambulance. Hope he is OK.
-
Dawson Simpson ankle. Green and Taylor Hamstring. Deledio calf. Possibly all out for a week or two and hopefully more.
-
Buggy got six weeks and made an example of to stop this kind of thuggery. Obviously not enough if it still happens. 8 weeks for Gaff and any less it will be a joke.

No [censored] killer instinct.

Lairising going on.
