  1. https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/let-s-stop-the-excuses-goodwin-rejects-talk-dees-list-compromised-20190404-p51arl.html "As a coach and a club there are no more excuses for us as a club," Goodwin said before Friday night's crunch match against Essendon. "Start judging us on our performances and not on our pre-season. We’re ready to go. We’re fit, we’ve got a good 22 that’s going to go out there and play, so let’s judge us on our performances and let’s stop the excuses." The old “no excuses” excuse. Well the season is already two rounds gone and we weren’t ready to go.
  2. Jones is starting to look like the elephant in the room. Problem is we have to demolish half the room to move him out.
  3. Essendon playing like [censored]. What could go wrong?
  4. Yes Hogan was impressive but like so may times when he was absent for us the team played far better. Freo were mightily impressive in round 1 sans Hogan. Arguably their best performance in many seasons. But they were the same old stodgy self in round 2 with Hogan. One of life’s great mysteries.
  5. I have been noticing a pattern to some of our recent diabolical losses. Not all but some conform to a pattern where we start very fast and dominant. We then appear to a hint of lairarising and fall to pieces. Happened last season against Hawks and Saints and late previous season against GWS. This season against Tigers in JLT and also Port.
  6. He must be short sighted. Back to topic his long bombs are quite penetraring and work well in fast transition with 1 to 1 targets ahead but like the rest of the team he bombs to a crowded forward line with few leads on offer.
  7. Just encouraging us to keep on going to the bathtub.
  8. Again the AFL depends on us to prop up the rest of the league. Don’t worry, this all part of the master plan and we will eventually win a game.
  9. The huge news is that they are 2-0 and we are 0-2.
  10. That Martin fellow would make an ideal back up for Gawn.
  11. We have plenty to look up to.
  12. Good to see Cunnington given a 50 metre penalty for a gut punch in a marking contest. Lions might be the team to replace us in the 8.
  13. We played some diabolical shockers last season at various stages. Now all I can hope for is that we got them out of the way early this season.
  14. Petracca - Impacted bowel syndrome.
  15. Better tank early than later. What a brilliant strategy.
  16. I would play him in the backline. If it doesn’t work out then trade for a set of steak knives.
  17. Pauline Hanson complains about being stitched up by the media. We have been drowned by media bathwater.
  18. According to BOM, weather should ease a little this evening in Geelong. Lighter milder winds and hopefully no rain.
  19. Eddie should keep the pub and urinal talk to where it belongs.
  20. Almost impossible to win over there in cold, wet southerly buster weather. An ageing creaky Jones and a hobbled Viney are a real worry. Hard to see any turnaround from them and to who will step up with real leadership. Hope I am wrong.
  21. Not surprised by the article. It was a shameful start to the season. We have been a lite n’ easy meal for a long time. Only occasionally have we been indigestible.
  22. I got the email too but left it too late to get a ticket. Had to settle for general admission. We are moving to Perth permanently in a few weeks. Been living close walking distance to MCG most of my life. Will miss it.
  23. Tigers suffering from maggot infestation.
  24. Once upon a time when a team was losing or being monstered some of the more antsy players would start a fight to attempt to stop opposition momentum. We tend to cower and wimp out. What happened in round one was unacceptably similar to when we played the Swans in round 15, 2017. Gawn was physically targeted severely that day also and we lost bad. We were riding high before that game after a string of great wins. It was very disappointing to see this happen again as well as the last quarter capitulation. Jones and Viney let the side down bad. Since beating Hawthorn in the First Semi we have been woeful. All this bathwater talk has some merit IMO. The only positive I see is now we have the opportunity to weed out this pathetic mindset early unlike late as in the past two seasons.
