Where does it state that Gawn is putting off contract talks till the end of the year? Or is it just a rumour? I reckon Gawn will be a gun ruck man in a few years.

To many mixed messages coming from Neeld, seems he is in survival mode. Give him to the end of the year to show he is capable of doing something with this team.

Doggies have minimal key position players that look to be any good coming through but have a strong midfield. Dees have lots of Key position but no midfield. One club we may be able to overtake in the coming years as midfielders are easier to find than key position players, although we have managed to mess this up over previous years. More development into current mids such as Trengove, Viney, Toumpas, Evans, M. Jones and a couple of good additions say like Prestia and the wheel may turn quicker than we think.

Give him a go down back, with Watts going up forward, Gawn playing well up forward, hogan coming in next yr, try him at CHB. Can't be any worse than Sellar and the only other backup after Sellar is Davis. Worth a go....

Jack watts spoke in Hassatt room on Sunday hoping to play this week. Jetta spoke as well, he has been told that he has to earn his spot back through Casey as he was suspended.

Listened to him in the Hassatt room at half time today, very impressive. As has already been stated he said we need more experienced people from great clubs such as Geelong & Hawthorn, people that know how to make things happen. I feel Josh Mahoney the current Football manager may be out of a job by seasons end and someone more experienced will step in. Also said previous CEO had to much control over the footy department. He is going to restructure the admin side of the club to save money which will help balance sheet going forward. Also said first aim is to clear up all distractions and off field dramas that have haunted the club for last 2 years. Russell Howcroft was also there and refused to answer questions when asked about the appointment of Neeld and what will happen going forward with Neeld as he is part of the board that are responsible for hiring him. Howcroft mentioned that he understands that his position on the board may be no longer as there may be re elections come years end. Overall he seemed a little bit uncomfortable and has no answers or valuable input on our current state. I left feeling good after listening to Jackson, smart man , straight shooter who will take no prisoners and is on a mission to get things right.

The obvious need is quality mids that can gut run all day. Another KP Back (backup for Frawley / McDonald) don't think Davis will make it. Small forwards (Someone such as Saad, Betts, Garlett, Rioli) Bynes will do until someone else steps up or develops. Key position forwards look ok, could be the spot for Watts along side : Clark, Dawes, Howe, Hogan. Main focus mids, mids mids.....

Rodan, Blease, watts are all liabilities, no defensive pressure or second efforts what so ever. Melbourne have a terrible work rate with too many lazy footballers. Until this changes we will stay at the bottom of the ladder.

I would think work rate / defensive pressure would be the reason. Seems to be his biggest weakness.
