  1. I did but you don't seem to be able to either see or comprehend, you only denigrate, but that's your choice and right If you want to believe there is such an animal as Culture in footy then that's ok by me, I just don't believe it exists
  2. Lonely out there in your position?
  3. you started the drinking early?.....this is an article in the Herald Sun, read it, laugh at it, move on........
  4. WYL just finds to hard to reconcile that some people don't agree with him, nice to see that there are some more non-culturists out there....and it is not just a sad simpleton like me
  5. Oh comparisons, sorry Courtney Johns, Scott Gumbleton etc etc No new to footy, been watching and understanding it for about 35 years now, not swayed in my opinions by anybody In between laughing out loud, I try and read some of the posts, combative training, erm boxing?....thought we had always done that, maybe we are going with jujitsu......I have attended quite a few training sessions and they have been doing this 'combative work' since Neeld took over, just reinforcing...... it was at a function, what were they going to say....."we are just going to toss the ball around for an hour"..... besides AFL last time I looked was a contact sport, you need to be combative I assume Jack wasn't embarassed standing next to Johncock, that was the job he was given, as another poster said I want to see him to be able to stand anybody........the game is changing I actually like the posters on here who always resort to denigration when their point is not agreed to, feel free to give it your best in the reply
  6. What is this new combative training the club is implementing? We are going to transfer to the Paintball League or Cage fighting this year are we? Jack Watts was drafted as a 17 year old player, what? you wanted him to be taking contested marks against men in his first year What midgets? Jack Watts will be a very good player, he may even be a great player.......from this year on and after a full pre season, he has at least another ten years....I have faith
  7. It is something footy commentators, coaches, supporters etc like to think exists at a successful club, I understand perfectly what you are all trying to say, including WYL when he actually says something worthwhile and takes of the hairshirt, but it is a game of footy, every single AFL player wants to win.......every member of a Club wants to win.....that is the culture.....if you are good enough you will win........the most skilful, fittest, role playing well coached team with a good game plan to negate the opposition will win....that is why Sydney won....not culture......of course it is easy for posters on here to just demean anybody that doesn;t agree with them, and saves them putting forward their own arguement
  8. So what we need to do to be successful is develop a culture, nurture the players like growing a culture in a laboratory, keeping them warm and fuzzy, expose them to a bit of culture like opera or modernist painting, to keep them on the straight and narrow during their down time, of course we have to be careful to avoid culture shock....and then to top it off get them to read Immanuel Kant before they enter the field of play.....to kick a piece of leather around for a couple of hours
  9. Media covers everything...Twitter, Fango, Facebook, it was all over these media....I have a realistic outlook on life....seen enough of it to realise that the values that exist today are very different from the past Also as Free Agency is going to prove the dollar will beat any "culture" hands down ..I also know that it is just footy......22 blokes playing another 22 blokes, all 44 want to win desperately....it is just circumstances that decide which 22 does win....nothing to do with this so called culture.....
  10. Absolutely convinced by the strong argument you put forward there, had me convinced you were right and that I was wrong.....oh sorry you didn't did you....you just said I was........
  11. 'Culture' is the word that the media has decided that fits the Sydney way of playing....it seems to have become a buzz word across all environments, but then again modern life is all buzz words and no substance. You could say the Melb Storm has the same 'culture' but it hasn't, they have been driven in the last couple of years to right a wrong, revenge is a powerful force As to your reference to Sydney Rd, most of that is media driven, as are most things these days, it was about a group of people feeling collectively guilty about allowing the 'most livable city' to become a very dangerous place at night. It won't stop the many young ladies who live around my area, trotting out like they do after 10.30pm this Saturday night, and getting incredibly drunk You may be the same vintage as me who longs for the 'good old days' rather than the media driven ME age we live in now, but that's getting rather off topic
  12. Hey RGRS I was the 'simpleton' who said it was a myth, so you resort to name calling to somebody who doesn't agree with you, that's very cultured of you It is a myth, 22 fit, highly competitive, skilled, well coached players beat another 22 on a given day. Mike Pyke wanted to be an AFL player so he went the extra yard, nothing to do with culture Sydney just about held on, they deserved to win, a couple of Hawthorn players who needed to lift couldn't mainly because they were too battered to
  13. The first four words you typed spoilt the whole thing. Besides that he wants to go home, yes Clark wanted to to that as well, but Tippett I don't think so, think Q Lynch is more of a chance
  14. Ben McGlynn got injured and they replaced him with a player who was in form in the ressies, lucky.....took the chance when it arose....nothing more
  15. A lack of form is not a clear indication of a change of attitude, in fact the harder Beamer tried the worse it got, he was given new roles and was finding it hard to adapt, if Neeld thought Beamer wasn't giving 100% he wouldn't have picked him in the games he did........ simple as that.....I suppose you have never had an off day at work then?
  16. I am glad Beamer doesn't read this board, what justification do you have for your comment above, I had a good chat to him at the B&F it is killing him to leave, but he wants to leave on his own terms
  17. After the kerfuffle, it beggars belief that some posters after reading the 'puff' and every other bit of media still don't get some things. Frawley was carrying a quad injury all season....I know I asked him at the B&F, to get himself through the season was great in itself, and as the review says..... he needs a rest Gysberts....everytime he was ready to go he hit another injury....he didn't do anything wrong, it's just he didn't have enough of a consistent run to have an impact Jame Bennell...have had a few chats with him, the review was spot on, he was given things to work on as he was lacking in those areas, he went away and worked on them, just got himself back in the side after working hard at Casey and got the knee injury
  18. It is like any media these days mainly for information and entertainment, there is nothing in depth, the great journalists have gone to that great news room in the sky, a lot today is 'puff', I read it for a bit of a break from work, I have my own opinion of the players like everybody else and it is certainly not swayed by pieces like the review......geez have to go back and edit each piece these days...must be age
  19. Yes of course the majority of Demonland readers will be able to see through, every single one of them works at the Club every day, if you think it is a puff piece why bother reading it...nobody orders you to ...some of us like to read them, and take them as they were intended, as Dandeeman says, it is polite, I am sure Cale Morton knows exactly where he stands with the Coaches and it is only between him and the coaching staff that matters.....I have asked every player whether they read Demonland and every single one has told me they have been told NOT to read it.....so if you want to bash him feel free
  20. I know what he was, that was my point, when first hired it was regarded as a 'good thing'...but also when he became recruiting manager it again was regarded as a good thing......I just love the coveting that goes on on this board....MFC are hopeless at this, that, the other, why can't we be like Geelong/Pies/Swans......as another poster said in another thread...why some continually stick with a basket case of a club that is so obviously the MFC at the moment, is beyond him (and me)........is there anything that everybody on this board is happy with that the Club has done?...doesn't seem to be....should rename this board Demoncarping or Envyland .can't wait for the bagging in a couple of years time if Taylor decides to join us and one of his high picks 'fails'
  21. What I find interesting is that when Barry Prendergast was hired by MFC it was regarded as a coup by the Club as 'he was highly regarded" .....how times change
  22. WYL what no comeback on the Sth Melbourne reference, they were the "BLOODS" first weren't they? can't have that can we..........facts getting in the way of a myth Send an email to the Club and suggest a standalone VFL side, and then kick in a few bob towards the 1/2 mil it costs
  23. Stuie, you will not get rational argument from them, you are wasting your breath, I have been told to go and look at the Swans "Blood" Culture, an urban myth that is perpetuated by the media........now let me think Sth Melbourne had to relocate to Sydney because the club went bust.....didn't have much of culture so the supporters didn't stand up and fight for their club and it had to move......wow but then that's not in the last five years when a club has been successful.......strange we never hear about the Geelong culture........winners are grinners and can perpetuate any rubbish, buzz word etc they can
  24. WYL...give it a rest....this was a thread to thank Brett Lovett for his efforts which most have done, except you see it as yet another opportunity to bag everything about MFC AGAIN........we know....there is a smalll group on this board who just want to be negative constantly.........
  25. Anyone think Greeny will put his hand up?, he will have enough support from MFC
