  1. Demetriou defends Jurrah's right to the presumption of innocence: http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/208/newsid/136186/default.aspx
  2. I really need to explain? Of course we are still down (just my poor use of tense)...the point I was making was that they are hardly jumping on bandwagons when they choose to sponsor teams that are either down or on their way down.
  3. Yes, I get the feeling that they will have a lot of trouble finding reliable witnesses, and as time passes, witness accounts will no doubt become less clear. The question has to be asked, on what basis were these additional four charges made? If they are "serious", why is it that they have only just come to light and why weren't they applied at the time of the original charges being laid... I would think any account of an incident that happened roughly three months ago leading to further charges, must surely be questionable.
  4. Dees play Blues free football
  5. Hardly... they went with us when we were down and they are going with the Pies when they are possibly on their way down.
  6. Good idea OD... may try, but i'll have to hope they don't make a connection between me and some of my tweets to them on game days :-) And if he ever follows those Many silver-tails, I'll be disowning him!
  7. Yeah, I'm trying to think of ways I can get him to meet a few of his favourite players like Jurrah, Sylvia, Green, and Jones. He says he'd be too shy, but I think it would make his day.
  8. I tend to agree... but the club must be dreading being put in that position.
  9. But I'll wager you're older than 10 :-) Still, I'll give it some consideration.... or maybe I'll do all of the drinking and he can be my designated driver.
  10. It will be interesting to see how the club reacts, if he is eventually found guilty of even the lesser charges and doesn't have to serve any time. Will the club take a guilty verdict to mean that he is no longer welcome at the club, or will they offer him counselling and put their faith in his ability to come out of this a better person. Quite the conundrum.
  11. Well, Eddie was true to his word and got one of our sponsors... so I suppose that clears the way for us to lure Cloke away ;-)
  12. But wouldn't the naming of a stand be an MFC/MCC initiative? This award is an AFL initiative and, I think, a great and well deserved honour. (I'm sure the stand named in his honour is not far away).
  13. If they can string together some wins against quality established opposition (that is, not GC or GWS), then I think their belief will start to surface quite rapidly... as they say, it is a confidence game. Edit: and I hope the first of those wins is on Saturday - for purely selfish reasons, of course :-)
  14. We probably need to add one or two good quality mids, but they need to have some genuine pace and grunt about them... Jones has now developed pretty reliable and accurate delivery by foot and has deceptive acceleration (just not sustained), but he alone cannot provide the run needed - by the way, pun intended? :-)
  15. Ah yes... I am hopeful he will stick it out... he is a Jurrah fan, so as long as he gets a game, I think that will be enough to satisfy him (well, I hope so , at least).
  16. Hey, how did you know?... get out of my head!!
  17. But hasn't Freemantle made the best offer (a deal of around $4m or $5m over 4 or 5 years) to date? I wouldn't have thought relocation would be such a big deal when you are on that sort of money.
  18. Nasher... I really don't know why you are getting seemingly upset with that comment... I was NOT having a go at you or anyone else and there was NO sarcasm involved at all. I was merely pointing out that my comment was an opinion based on my observations (so obviously there's a good chance it's flawed) and that as I was expressing it on a public forum I felt no need for conclusive proof. Apologies if you thought I was taking a shot at you.
  19. Therein lies part of the problem... just how much belief do the players really have? I'll be there on Saturday, so I hope they find a spark (even though I have said that is probably the "kiss of death", I was at the Shanghai game when they managed to pull out an unlikely victory)...who knows, the smaller ground and the return of Jurrah (hopefully) may see them turn things around, although I have told my 10 year old to be prepared for loss :-)
  20. They are not assertions... they are my thoughts/impressions formed from watching games. I don't sit there as I watch, noting down the number of dropped marks and number of held marks and number of efforts involving ground work. This is a forum and as I stated quite clearly I was not intending to belittle Clark's performance, I see no need to support my comments with any solid evidence.
  21. Clark has dropped a lot of marks and I think you will find a lot of his goals come from his ground work. Cloke on the other hand, is one of the best single grab marks going around...and his accuracy is much better than Clark from a set shot...and that is not to belittle Clark's performance, by the way.
  22. I doubt very much that anyone would be privee to what is likely to happen in the courts before it has gone before the magistrate... I'm pretty sure there would be a case for contempt charges to be laid if that were to occur.
  23. So essentially, it is the same as what hardtack was saying :-)
  24. Well, I suppose the difference is that Cloke has some currency :-)
  25. Jones is fully sick! (and I will never waver from my comment a couple of years ago that he will be our Chapman) I predict that Howe will be a superstar if he can temper his approach and not try to win mark of the year every time he goes near a pack. I also predict that Gawn will be the Sandilands for the next generation, Gysberts will be a latter day Robbie Flower and once he has belief in himself, Watts will be better than Reiwoldt and may even be almost Buddy-like.
