  1. The property market never really collapses...it just requires investors to wait it out; something you are patently not capable of doing.
  2. Bandicoot has no answers...he is merely a product of the "I want it and I want it now" generation. Fortunately his [censored] and wind amount to nothing in the scheme of things.
  3. I was called up in 1972...on my birthday no less! I was deferred because I was studying at Swinburne and then Gough got voted in later that year and National Service got voted out; can't say I was disappointed.
  4. I'm trying to figure out when I passed into the alternate universe where Sarah Palin is "hot"... I'm afraid that Clutch Cargo jaw just doesn't do it for me :-)
  5. Olympics got off to a great start in the womens' soccer... introducing the North Korean team on the big screen, showing them alongside the South Korean flag. Wonder if the Borat anthem will get played again at some point in the competition.
  6. Nit picking?? Whatever. My last link was to the blood rule literature... not trying to justify anything, just putting it there as that is the stance taken by the sporting bodies which was developed for the Australian National Council on AIDS, Hepatitis C and Related Diseases, by the Australian Institute for Primary Care.
  7. Perhaps it was something to do with your statement: "After working throughout the Africa's for 6 years and going out with a chick who worked for the Gates foundation doing HIV/AIDS research I have a fair idea how disease is spread via blood transmission and it's not by wiping it on someones shorts." ... to me that seemed to be saying that this meant you were talking with some sort of authority on the subject. I merely question how that was so and offered my opinion as to why wiping blood on someone's shorts could actually lead to the transmission of blood borne infection to other players. As you say, "all good".
  8. Take your mind back to the episode about the Germans and the infamous line "Whatever you do, don't mention the war!" You can imagine what would come out of the mouth of a severely concussed (as a result of a mishap with said moose head) Basil Fawlty.
  9. Perhaps Basil's head injury actually resulted from a falling moose head?
  10. Speak for yourself RF... I found it quite informative and I'm sure others might as well.
  11. What work were you doing in Africa? Was it directly related to the HIV/AIDS issue? If not, then that means absolutely nothing. I went out with an art teacher for years, does that qualify me as an art teacher? The fact is, blood on any item of clothing in a body contact sport such as AFL, ARL, Basketball etc, can come into contact with open wounds on other players...or are you only seeing this as being an issue relating to the player whose shorts had the blood applied to them? Whether we like it or not, the blood rule exists and will continue to exist and the players must respect that fact. Oh and yes, I know that wiki page I referenced was a pretty poor effort, but perhaps the official information booklet aimed at sport participants in Australia "Blood rules OK" will explain it better... http://sma.org.au/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/Blood_rulesOK-booklet.pdf
  12. Don't know which govt allowed the sale of alchohol to aboriginals (doesn't really matter), but that was really probably just a formality, as they were getting access to it anyway. There is a pretty good introduction to alchohol and its affect on indigenous communities here at the Creative Spirits website... http://www.creativespirits.info/aboriginalculture/health/aboriginal-alcohol-consumption.html
  13. I can't believe that you are even asking the question, but as you are, I suggest you do some reading: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blood_rule
  14. Mathouse started his coaching career at Footscray with the following record: 7th (1984), 3rd (1985), 8th (1986), 7th (1987), 8th (1988) and 13th (1989)... so his finals record was relatively poor. Yes, Roos had a much more successful start to his coaching career, but it could easily be argued that he had a much more talented and experienced list to work with. I was hoping at the time that we would get Sheedy, but they chose not to go down that path, and I have seen little at GWS to suggest that Sheedy is having any major impact there... I am more inclined to believe that he is less coach and more spruiker at that club. As for Malthouse and Roos, neither was making themselves available for a coaching position at the time and Neeld was believed by many to be one of the best on offer... that may or may not be the case; but he needs time to prove this.
  15. I think you'll find that Jackie's "do your own legwork" is code for, "I have a vague memory of something along those lines, but perhaps you could find out for me and post on my behalf". Well, it seems to have blown up his his/her face, doesn't it :-)
  16. Is that the same coaching staff and administration you are calling for the sacking of in another thread?
  17. I'm pretty certain that our natopian friend wanted Malthouse of Roos in the coaches box... however, I sincerely doubt that even under their tutilage our fortunes would be any better than they presently are. The thing that I have trouble comprehending with these kinds of posters is that they seem to believe that only established coaches can bring success... is this telling us that the Malthouses and Roos of the world were never first time coaches; that they have always tasted nothing but success?
  18. Natopian culture is characterized by a general sense of aloofness, immaturity, and irreverence... possibly impatience as well?
  19. You take the cake Distopia... first you blame Neeld for the likely sacking of Schwab and McLardy, and in the very next sentence you call for the sacking of Schwab and McLardy... you bring to mind a form of kicking that disappeared from the game decades ago... perhaps you should go the same way as the drop kick?
  20. You'll get used to Bluey...despite the fact that he seems to like the sound of his own keyboard, he does occasionally say something worthwhile...just not this time.
  21. Don't his bail conditions state that he is not allowed out of Melbourne? Know he went to Sydney, but, and I may be wrong, I think the club had to apply for permission, so if he's ,not playing, that may not be possible.
  22. Davis and Cook are yet to debut at AFL level, Morton has been getting a lot of chances lately and doesn't have the versatility of Jetta, which is probably something working in Jetta's favor at he moment, and as I mentioned before, Gysberts has apparently been having stamina issues and is probably in a much more secure position as far as his future at the club is concerned. I think it is a bit of a concern that you are calling out the club for promoting a player too soon purely because of his aboriginality, as if this is going to give us some edge in support. This is not the indigenous round and Jetta is from WA so the thought that this was some sort of marketing ploy, never entered my head... I prefer to believe he is considered fit enough to play, particularly if he is coming on as the sub.
  23. It's not an isolated situation at all, except in the minds of those such as yourself who see it as a "marketing" decision...pray tell just what it is that we are marketing in playing a guy from West Australia in Darwin? Or does your mind work in such a way that you see our club assuming that any indigenous player will be a major draw card in Darwin? Rather than joining dots, you seem to have put one and one together and come up with three.
