  1. Perhaps they mean "no stone will be left unturned" in their pursuit of players that have experience and meet both the attitude and economic requirements... bypassing the likes of Cloke, Goddard and Tippet doesn't necessarily mean they are reneging on that statement.
  2. Possibly because we did so many things wrong?
  3. I'm in Shenzhen, China listening through the AFL app on my iPad (it's the SEN coverage I believe).
  4. Docklands is as much a part of Melbourne (the place) as is the MCG. Can't really see the issue with regards to identity and demographics, and cannot see any issues regarding accessibility. Storm in a teacup territory.
  5. The only demons my 13 year old is interested appear in the online games he plays with his mates on Steam! My 10 year old is a Dees supporter (and member), but it's been difficult for him having gone to see the Swans game as his first experience and having seen two of his favourites in Jurrah and Green depart the club. The win over GWS in Canberra helped keep him interested, so he remains a Dees fan so far. I am not in the least bit surprised when kids start following teams like Geelong and Hawthorn, as its natural to follow a winning team...that's what initially drew me to the Dees in the 50's.
  6. I was a bit surprised this was not already appearing here as a topic of discussion, but John Elliot has mooted that the MFC will shift its training base to Docklands (http://www.smh.com.au/afl/afl-news/demons-for-docklands-elliott-20120920-269jf.html). Assuming there is some substance to the report, and considering our poor record there, I think it might not be such a bad move. (I just realised why this topic is not already being discussed...I'm sitting in New York City reading Real Footy online, and may have seen it before everyone else has woken up)
  7. Ah, the old rose coloured rear view mirror ;-) I was under the impression that it was ND who began the whole softening process that Bails admirably took on and perfected, leaving Neeld with the basket case that is the MFC today.
  8. Talking to yourself is never a great look. And a word of advice...if as you say, you are expressing your views, it is probably a good idea not to make the thread title appear to be a statement of fact, but rather make it a question such as "Are the Dees chasing a swag of...etc etc".
  9. The reason Jones has progressed from zero to hero is Jones himself... nothing to do with time, but everything to do with application, desire and a will to do the hard things. His has set the benchmark and if the others follow his example, then they will end up top players.
  10. The biggest surprise for me was the closeness of the margin between Jones and Grimes...I would have thought here would be daylight between Jones and the runner up.
  11. Obviously you fall into the latter group :-)
  12. We simply read the words that he wrote... i.e., a definitive statement, not a "what if" comment. We are reading what is written in the post... you are reading what you want, into it.
  13. Couch won the Troy Broadbridge Memorial Trophy... not sure what it's for.
  14. First announcement is that WebJet have signed on for another year... great news!
  15. Just started and MelbourneFC are tweeting regular updates.
  16. There is the "issue" stuie (and to an extent myself) had with the post. Maybe the words were just poorly chosen (?), but it was a pretty definitive statement with regards to what Jack said to him "will start down back next year and will then be moved back into the forward line later in the season."
  17. Yes, but generally our guesses turn out to be just as accurate ;-)
  18. That seems a bit odd to me I'm sorry... how on earth would he know this was going to happen? I very much doubt the football department will have much of an idea yet about where they will be playing Watts mid-way through next season; particularly when they don't yet know who they will be picking up through free agency, trades and drafts. I did however say in another thread that I thought Watts would probably do another season in the back line and then move forward the following year (but I would think that's a pretty easy call to make).
  19. I'd be more inclined to go for somewhere like LA or SF if we had to travel great distances... large expat community and more inclined to be receptive to the obvious hype that would be selling the product.
  20. Yes, and form a relay for those of us living interstate or in country Victoria.
  21. I thought I had stumbled upon a pro-Neeld topic.
  22. Well all know why you believe Tex is "talking from the heart"... it almost like you are more than spiritually connected.
