  1. There is a nicknames post somewhere… I started it a year(?) or so ago, but maintenance was difficult, as there is only a very narrow window in which edits can be made; so updates were not straightforward…that, plus I’m a lazy SOB by nature.
  2. You’ve just reminded me of that old joke about a woman and her child who were standing at a third floor window, calling for help as fire engulfed the building around them. It looked hopeless as help seemed like it would not arrive any time soon, when all of a sudden, Ron Barrassi appears out of nowhere, shouting: “Fear not, I’m Ron Barrassi the greatest VFL player of all time!! Just throw your child from the window and I will catch him/her.” So, after considering his suggestion and unable to think of any viable options, she decided to throw the child in Ron’s direction. Well…Ron runs and launches himself with one knee in the back of a tall bystander, takes an absolute screamer, plays on, bounces twice and shooooooooooooots for goal!! Yes, an oldie but a Goldie!
  3. And the Irish would say, Faith and Gomorrah!, as they disembarked at Epstein Island.
  4. I hope he didn’t get that nickname because of his like for a certain film.
  5. I used to have a copy of the movie of Breakfast of Champions starring Bruce Willis, but it went missing. It’s pretty awful…Happy Birthday Wanda June and Slaughterhouse Five translated much better to film.
  6. Oh, wow! I’m a big Vonnegut fan, but I’m not familiar with those short stories (off to Gleebooks I go). There’s a super special collection of most of his novels in, from memory, one large volume, but it’s priced way beyond anything I can justify spending, unfortunately.
  7. Now that’s Frood for thought (or should that be Fraught?).
  8. Yes, I’ve heard something similar.
  9. Oh yes you can!! A bit of waterboarding never hurt anyone!! (well, not too many)… (ok, quite a lot really, but let’s not get picky)
  10. Decades ago I had a book titled ‘The Mind of a Mnemonist’; a true story and a fantastic read. The subject of the book in one of his methods, would place objects on an imaginary street, and when asked to repeat the objects in their correct order (could be 5 minutes after being read the list, or could be 5 days; it didn’t matter), he would bring up the imaginary street in his mind’s eye and proceed to walk down the footpath (in his mind), calling out each object as he passed it. Fascinating stuff! So…that’s what Demonlanders could do…have an imaginary street with each player standing next to the letterbox with their number on it. Should work like a charm!!
  11. I’m a fan of messing with peoples’ heads… nicknames should be cryptic!
  12. Following those ‘obscure’ nicknames, I was thinking that Onley could have the nickname of either Roy or Orb, after Roy Orbison (Only the Lonely).
  13. Maybe a dumb question, but what are those things some players (36, 32, 19 and another whose number I can’t see) are carrying?
  14. Definitely! The same happened to my brother and he ended up in ICU for a couple of weeks.
  15. That El Jeffo label always reminds me of the film ‘Chef’ in which the food truck is named El Jefe (head chef). Great movie by the way.
  16. No problem at all (I thought my wink emoji would have conveyed my attempt at humour - those people at Apple will be hearing from me soon!)
  17. Love it! Max in the blue tee?
  18. My comments were not intended as criticism of Kossie or anyone else… my musical tastes are actually very eclectic, although I’m not a fan of over produced anthemic stuff. Performing in a band myself (as I’m sure others in this forum also do), I do understand the entertainment value of music, but I have to disagree with the “one of the greatest female voices” comment… yes, she has an amazing range, but there is more to singing than just a great voice…Nina Simone, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Bjork, Grace Slick, Janice Joplin etc etc None of them have what would be considered technically great voices, but they were/are all great singers; but that’s just my opinion, and like with anything, it just comes down to personal taste. (but I do love discussing stuff like this😉) As well as entertainment, music is also an art form, and I suppose when it comes to listening to music, as opposed to making it, that is the the side of it that interests me the most.
  19. Off topic, but the owner of your profile name was, when I was a child, my surgeon at the Mercy Hospital when I had what they then referred to as ‘gravel’, in my kidney (kidney stones, I assume).
  20. Where did you see her? So good! My favourite musician is another Japanese composer, Ryuichi Sakamoto…I got to see him twice over the years; I don’t think I’ve ever felt so sad over the passing of a ‘celebrity’ as I did the day he passed away.
  21. Just a moment while I fetch my handy dandy (blue’s clues anyone?) guillotine. Actually, you do make a good argument, but I’d still love an energising little number like Sedated (a little Ramones never goes astray), or Jesus Built My Hot Rod by Ministry (cool? no, weird? yes).
  22. The thing I hated (and still hate) the most about this particular quiz, is that I now have that god awful ‘Movie Star’ song playing on an endless loop in my head…oh the humanity!!
  23. Just don’t go getting lippy 🤣Hardy ha ha!😂
  24. And one of them was former Demon Lily Mithen’s grandfather
  25. WTF?? It’s a long climb back from where Kossie just fell in my estimation. 😉
