NON-MFC: Opening Round 2025
That is just insane! What are the AFL thinking allowing that to happen? The grassroots/working class supporters will be denied some of the best football, simply because they may not be able to afford the cost of a streaming service! it seems to be all about the dollars and [censored] the supporter base, many of who hold memberships with their clubs but for whatever reason, aren’t able to attend the game.

Sharing My Ongoing Cancer Experience
A further update. My band will be playing a gig for a friend’s birthday in April (still open to the general public, so it should be crowded). Despite it being at the end of the week in which I have my chemo infusion, and is when I’m at my lowest ebb, I’ll be attempting to sing a handful of songs… but I’m in the process of inviting a few other vocalists and musicians to help out. So far it’s looking like Mick Daley, Andy Baylor, Jonny Gretsch, Marcus Phelan, with possibles being Terry Serio, Vogli Bonze (from the Japanese band Buddhadatta) and Lizzie Mack (from the Soul Movers)… other musicians who will almost definitely join in are Richard Burgman (Saints and Sunnyboys), Murray Cook (Wiggles and The Soul Movers), Marcus Holden on fiddle, Peter Head (from The Headband) and Bob Spencer (The Skyhooks and The Angels). A few aren’t yet locked in, but I’m hopeful most will make it, plus a few more. The older folk among us might recognise a few of those names. If you’re a Sydney based supporter or are likely to be in Sydney on Saturday 12th April, please try to come along and introduce yourself (how do I get more Demonlanders to see this post?).

PRESEASON TRAINING: Saturday 8th March 2025
I’m not sure that there’s any correlation between the two things… a lot changes in the way of club culture over a period of 20(?) years or so. I hope he gets his chance.

NON-MFC: Opening Round 2025
I think Huddo is a great commentator…he wears his love of the game on his sleeve and is like your mad keen supporter, but one who is able to communicate what he is seeing, in ways well beyond any of us. I’m not worried that his knowledge of the game might not be perfect, as that’s why they have experts on hand to provide their expert comments.

I’m pretty sure Goodwin said, just the other day, that Jefferson will be getting games this year.

Call me dumb, but I really did not understand any of that. I’m guessing it’s player numbers, in which case, not really being across most of our team’s numbers, I’m completely lost. I’ve got some serious studying to do in the next seven days!! I hope that one day the AFL might see the benefit of putting the player's name on the back of the jersey.😵💫

I’m pretty sure he was named as an emergency, but yeah, I agree he’s probably not quite there yet. I do want to see him get a run at some point, but in the meantime, I really liked what Johnson brought… he’s not a particularly elegant player with lots of tricks, but rather a meat and potatoes kind of a player who brings plenty of physicality into the contest, creating a little chaos that sees the ball spilling loose, giving our smaller forwards something to crumb. He’ll only get better and will contribute goals.

Strange…I was of the understanding that Casey have a large following in Singapore. I was told by my friend who operates a stall at the Newton Food Centre, that there’s a guy named Hung who does road maintenance around the Johor Causeway area, and who owns a transistor radio that he has permanently tuned into Casey Radio. If you ask around, you might be able to track him down and get some stats. Oh, and as an aside, my medication seems to be doing its job.

WERRIDEE's Top 200 Bands
Ok, I decided I’ll have a go at this one. There is no real method to my madness, and my list was built on the assumption that the names that easily sprung into my mind, were the bands that had the biggest affect on me. They are in no particular order, other than the fact that listing one band of individual would trigger memories of other bands, hence the reason that all of the Australian bands of grouped together (again, no specific order within those names). Anyway, I give you… my top 200 bands (including some individuals): Ryuichi Sakamoto The Clash The Jam The Style Council General Public The (British) Beat The Dictators The Nails The Stranglers The Members The Damned Doll By Doll Psychedelic Furs Gang of Four Elvis Costello (the Attractions, the Imposters, the Coward Brothers etc) Joe Jackson Brinsley Schwarz Graham Parker & the Rumour Dr Feelgood The Sensational Alex Harvey Band The Cream Humble Pie The Small Faces/The Faces The Jeff Beck Band Roxy Music ELP The Nice Mahavishnu Orchestra (John McLaughlin) The Steve Miller Band The Allman Brothers Band The Velvet Underground James Brown Lou Reed Pop Will Eat Itself XTC King Crimson Curved Air Be Bop Deluxe Van Der Graf Generator Tangerine Dream Kraftwerk The Residents Snakefinger Frank Zappa & the Mothers of invention Captain Beefheart & the Magic Band The Sex Pistols The Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band Viv Stanshall Led Zeppelin Chicago (first couple of albums) Blood Sweat and Tears Pacific Gas & Electric The Kinks The Beatles The Rolling Stones The Yardbirds Fairport Convention Steeleye Span The Pogues The Strawbs John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers Blue Oyster Cult The Throb The Reels The Easybeats The Loved Ones Lobby Loyde & the Coloured Balls The Purple Hearts (featured our former bass guitarist Bob Dames) The Wild Cherries Mike Furber & the Bowery Boys Company Caine Spectrum Ariel The Stars Carson County Boogie Band Broderick Smith Big Combo The Dingoes Wendy Saddington & Chain (also with Copperwine) Chain Billy Thorpe & the Aztecs Daddy Cool Mighty Kong Sons of the Vegetal Mothers Billy-T Paul Madigan & the Humans The Ferrets The Lime Spiders (featured our guitarist Ged Corben) The Cruel Sea (Ged Corben was a founder member when they were essentially an instrumental band) Hunters & Collectors The Birthday Party Boys Next Door Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds Sekret Sekret The Sports Harem Scarum Jo Jo Zep & the Falcons Drowning Not Waving (Dees supporter, David Bridie) My Friend the Birthday Cake (Dees supporter, David Bridie) The Huxton Creepers (Dees supporter, Archie Law) Mackenzie Theory (Dees supporter, Rob Mackenzie) Radio Birdman Regurgitator Crowded House Kevin Borrich Express Kahvas Jute Tamam Shud Tully The Bee Gees (pre Saturday Night Fever) The Seekers Captain Matchbox Whoopee Band Skyhooks Matt Finish Midnight Oil The Angels The Screaming Jets The Backsliders Coloured Stone Gondwanaland The Living End Warumpi Band Paul Kelly & <insert band of choice> Kutcha Edwards Archie Roach & Ruby Hunter Gurramul & Mandawuay Yunupingu Mixed Relations Yothu Yindi The Hitmen Mental As Anything Dog Trumpet The Aliens La De Das Ayer’s Rock Healing Force AC/DC (Bon Scott era only) Flowers/Icehouse GangaJang The Allniters (featured our early guitarist Mickey Mahoney) Kush The Numbers Freshwater (featuring Alison McCallum of ‘It’s Time’ fame) Sun (featuring Renee Geyer) SPK Severed Heads Buffalo Alberto Y Los Trio Paranoias Prodigy Pink Floyd MC5 The Ramones Television Iggy & the Stooges David Bowie Traffic The Spencer Davis Group The Texas Tornadoes Los Lobos Lemmy (Hawkwind & Motörhead) Ministry Van Morrison Quicksilver Messenger Service The Byrds Jefferson Airplane Big Brother & the Holding Company (Janis Joplin) They Might Be Giants Wheezer The Blue Hearts Buddhadatta The 5, 6, 7, 8’s Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra Japan Little Feat Manfred Mann Earth Band The Crazy World of Arthur Brown Yello Yellow Magic Orchestra (aka YMO) Jimi Hendrix (Experience & Band of Gypsies) Fleetwood Mac (Peter Green era only) Argent Neil Young Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young Joni Mitchell Procol Harum Robin Trower Genesis (Peter Gabriel era) Kate Bush Commander Cody & His Lost Planet Airmen Asleep At the Wheel The Rock ‘n Roll Trio Weather Report The Screaming Blue Messiahs Rockpile Dave Edmunds Nick Lowe Wreckless Eric Thunderclap Newman Talking Heads ZZ Top Hank Williams Bob Dylan The Band
