  1. The info for OTC on Foxtel says the guest is Luke Hodge, but I'm sure I have seen a number of ads over the last couple of days saying that Nathan Jones will be on. So, it might be worth tuning in (if you have Foxtel) just in case.
  2. What about if you were in a job that meant you were in a position where you were exposed to the public and that some of the public you had to deal with on a daily basis became abusive towards you because of something your employer had done over which you had no control? What if that abuse started to affect your mental health? Would your employer leave you high and dry or would you be granted paid leave? I'm not saying that the MFC is directly responsible for Mitch's predicament, but I am saying that he has no control over the injuries and how long he will be off the field (such things ARE decided by the club), yet there are probably many "supporters" who feel he is personally responsible for his situation and they are quite possibly letting him know either via social media, his personal website or even in the street.
  3. Actually, if you are diagnosed as having mental stress that could be a result of your employment, you can be given paid leave... and I imagine in Clark's case, the fact that his injuries keep recurring as he attempts to get fit enough to return to the field, mean he is being placed under a lot of stress. And as I said in another post, I also imagine he is having to cope with a hell of a lot of abuse from people who believe he is being paid too much to just sit around, which would also be a major contributing factor.
  4. Thanks for the kind words Smithy.
  5. Yeah, and Bennell has been having a reasonable game which I'm happy to see... always liked Jamie, even if he never did cut it in the games he played with us.
  6. Those are your idea of a cheapshot?? Ding, you need to grow a much thicker skin... what I do find funny though is the fact that you accuse me of cheapshots, yet in the 6 years you have been on D'land, you have a relative handful of posts, and if the last few posts are anything to go by, you only come on to here to take potshots because you are upset over a result. Again, quite ironic is it not?
  7. Perhaps you would like to cite some of the footy related posts where I have taken cheap snipes? Ding, anger management is something that you should seriously look into (and no, that is not a snipe... it's a serious suggestion). Politics however is open slather and anything goes... I think you will find most rational footy posters go off the rails there.
  8. Well, you'd be very wrong there... but you could certainly do with a visit to the room of mirrors for a bit of self-reflection and anger management. Carry on.
  9. And you had ME pegged as someone who only cares about themselves? Oh the irony.
  10. There's a good chance a similar thread would have been started here if the shoe had been on the other foot.
  11. Perhaps what is going on in his personal life is directly affecting his ability to play? And perhaps, just perhaps, it has been his seeming inability to recover completely from his injuries that has put his personal life in a tailspin... in which case it is the club's concern and the club's business to deal with. It leaves me gobsmacked that there are some who just don't get that.
  12. Well, you would certainly know all about posting rubbish ding. If you accept the fact that people are prepared to withdraw membership after one loss with a new set-up at the club, then that's your prerogative... I however will express my opinion regardless of what you think. Maybe this loss did cost us potential memberships... but unlike some, I am happy to be a member when we are going poorly or when we are going well. Without members, the club dies... I'm guessing you will be one of the first to call for the sacking of the board and a new coach.
  13. And pray tell, how does withdrawing your membership help? You give the new administration and coaching group one game and that's it? Particularly when we still have a few of our major players to come back in. To use your own word "pathetic".
  14. Well, we certainly don't need fairweather supporters... so feel free to follow another club.
  15. wattsup just seems to be another "heartless" supporter.
  16. Think it was called a shire back then...lots of dirt roads yes, and milk and bread were delivered by horse drawn carts, but Dorset Rd was sealed.
  17. I remember the old ice works in Coolstore Road.
  18. Know a few here in Sydney, but don't recall the name in Croydon. Any idea what street they lived in...it's a pretty big suburb (we were near the golf course).
  19. Perhaps we can write that in oil on the centre square of the MCG a la Free George Davis campaign .Edit: oh, and loved Special AKA with Elvis Costello producing and providing background vocals...and the flip side, What I Like Most Bout You is Your Girlfriend.
  20. I was glued to the transistor in my parents home in Dorset Road, Croydon (I was 12).
  21. Watching "the Best Exotic Marigold Hotel" for about the 10th time. Don't know what it is about this film, but it manages to pull me in every time in watch it...the characters, the story, the scenery (in Jaipur, a place I have been and have fond memories of), just everything about it is perfect! This and the "Intouchables" (a beautiful French film) are two films I am completely in love with.
  22. Saints minus a midfield and Dees for once with a midfield means we should win purely by weight of numbers (of forward 50 entries). I'm thinking we will get this by 6 to 8 goals.
  23. Well, I would imagine that to win the first game of the season for the first time in how many years (7?) and to win at Etihad for the first time in 7 years must be worth a few memberships.
  24. Why? He seems happy wallowing in a cess pit every Thursday night.
