  1. Why don't we all start Round 2 game day threads? At the end of the day we can total up the number of replies in each and declare the winner the most popular poster on Demonland (for the week).
  2. Also, I think it's probably not a bad idea to keep someone like Brayshaw "hungry" for games; I can't help but think of past new recruits who have played great first games and then, for whatever reasons, faded out.
  3. Despite being a big fan, I would probably have Lamumba in there ahead of Dunn... and I would not be in the least bit surprised if Nathan Jones makes AA this year (providing he has a another season like last year).
  4. That's no mean feat considering the quality of the Freo v Port game and the frighteningly good performances of the Hawks and the Crows.
  5. I love these threads... what are the odds he'll be a demon by the end of page 4? (and by the the end of the year he will be despised/demonised for changing his mind and not leaving Carlton for us)
  6. I love it! Sure you wouldn't belt this version at out the end of the game after a win, but I think it's a superb interpretation of the song.
  7. Rob... I'm down in Melbourne on Friday 8th May and heading along to see The Sports reunion performance on the Saturday night in St Kilda (which unfortunately clashes with the game against the Swans). Will head back on the Sunday, but am free to catch up on either Friday night or Saturday during the day. I'm staying in Sth Yarra. Glad you liked the song by the way.
  8. My favourite line (pardon the pun): "You feel that losing Karmichael Hunt was a real problem as he would have been definitely able to give the Suns a lift."
  9. Thinking about this I would not be surprised to see Frost go to defence. He has the size and speed to match it with Cameron, plus he will have the added benefit of being familiar with Cameron's game. Could Dawes possibly come in at the expense of a defender?
  10. The biggest advantage of Dawes coming in is that it will result in Watts taking the third defender instead of second, making him more dangerous than he was on the weekend (that based on the assumption that he has actually turned the corner with regards to his attitude). I don't know who he will come in at the expense of, but I would be surprised if it is vandenBurg (Brayshaw maybe?).
  11. The AFL will keep sending us there until we get it right.
  12. I really don't think GWS are going to be the pushover some seem to think they will be. We have to find a way to counter the likes of Cameron, Ward, Shaw, Mumford etc as well as compete against a crowd that will definitely NOT be urging us on. I sincerely hope that the players don't go into the game with the same attitude as some of our supporters and think that simply turning up assures a certain victory. (just to be clear...my comments are based on general comments following Saturday's game... not necessarily aimed at just posters in this thread).
  13. I'm not sure that would qualify as one of Demonland's greatest moments
  14. I would have thought that is like asking if your odds of reaching the summit of Mt Everest have improved because you just completed a successful ascent of Mt Dandenong.
  15. Yeah, terrific idea. Let's compromise our whole defensive set up, just to discipline an integral part of it for a moment's madness. I didn't notice it, but if it was as bad as you say, then I'm sure Roos will handle the situaion in the way he sees most fit and more importantly, in a way that will not disadvantage the whole team.
  16. Watts. He must be under so much pressure everytime he takes to the field and finally it looks like it may be starting to click for him. He went in much harder than I have seen in the past, his kicking was assured, he forced himself to get involved in contests and he came out on top with a bag of 3 goals. Really happy for the kid.
  17. We were rapt with the results DC. Camped most of the Casey game just near the sausage truck and enjoyed watching the game while chowing down... they really need a scoreboard though as at one point I was sure we were 3 goals down when we were actually 1 goal up! To then go over the footbridge to the Gee and see the way that game unfolded... heaven on a stick! In the Bradman (gate 5 entrance) just down toward the forward pocket so we had a close up view of the goals in the final quarter... I don't think I can ever recall seeing my son quite so animated... and I'm sure he'd be saying the same thing about me. Sat with a fellow D'land poster, the delightful Rob Mac and also popped in to say a quick hello to Pete (TDI) at the Memembership tent. All in all, a great day and a totally worthwhile trip to Melbourne...and what made it even better was the knowledge that it was pissing down with rain in Sydney while we were bathed in sunshine.
  18. He actually looked pretty good OD ... he had to be amongst the best I would have thought.
  19. Just out of interest, what's the longest quarter on record? Their last quarter just passed 37 minutes and is still going!Edit: finished, just shy of 39 minutes.
  20. Two moments that stood out for me from all of the obvious great moments...Salem's mark of a skied ball in the back pocket late in the 3rd quarter, against a much larger opponent...then and I can't recall who his opponent was, but Hogan's mark on the wing where his opponent obviously had the idea of pushing him out of the contest, but in actual fact, pushed him straight into the path of the ball...brilliant! Also loved the fact that we won every quarter (I think).
  21. No, that's Watts floating, having had the weight lifted from his shoulders.
  22. Please don't belittle Flanagan's writing by dismissing it as a "match day article". He is the most articulate sports writer I have had the pleasure to read.
  23. As far as I'm concerned, we haven't had a player of Nathan's standing (both skills and morals), since Robbie Flower. So appropriate that he leads the Dees out on a day that celebrates RF and I couldn't think of anything better than a win to honour the both of them.
  24. Ok, a quick one before I head off to the Casey v Collingwood prelude to the main game... Chet Baker's brilliant version of Elvis Costello's "Almost Blue"...
