  1. f we had kicked better in the first quarter we could have easily gone into the first break in front. IMO 75% of the reason we got beaten yesterday was JUDD. He got Carlton out of trouble so often it was hard to believe. Agree 100%. Judd is a fantastic footballer. Had he been playing for us, we would have seen a very close game. Kicking poorly for goal in 1st q didn't help our cause and the last two quick Carlton goals( within the space of 50 seconds) spoiled an otherwise excellent Ist Q effort from our boys.
  2. Make a comeback soon! Your assessments add a bit of sanity to this forum.
  3. Getting sore eyes looking for Joeboy's 3 word summing up of our team. It is usually spot on IMO. Hope you haven't forsaken us Joeboy.
  4. Every club has good, fair supporters just as every club has its mongrel supporters. Melbourne is no exception.
  5. Sorry, you are quite right. I was thinking of the number one draft pick overall. Will Cook get a game this year?
  6. So many skeptics on this forum writing off Jack Watts as a 'dud' not so long ago. Come on admit that you were very wrong and that Jack is a fantastic player demonstrating guts, skill and attitude. Well done Wattsy.
  7. And just who is that Robbie?
  8. 6. J. Trengove 5. J. Watts 4. .J Macdonald 3. J.Howe ( Is going to be a beauty this guy) 2. J. Gysberts 1. S. Martin
  9. Spoken like a true fair weather supporter. Don't like it don't PRETEND to be a supporter.
  10. Thank heavens for Jack Watts!
  11. 'Tubby' Taylor was very good at coin tosses.
  12. We WILL be very tough and competitive this week even though the task of winning MAY be beyond us. I just hope that people won't get on Todd's back even if we have a substantial loss.Conversely, if we did pull off an unexpected win we shouldn't hail Viney as the coach supreme. It takes more than one game to evaluate the skills of a new coach.
  13. I am disappointed Sylvia is out. I felt this game v Carlton would have produced one of Col's rare but inspiring gamebusting performances. I am not a great fan of Col due to his inconsistency, BUT just had this gut feeling that he would turn it on come Saturday. Of course he still could play pending the final fitness of Scully or Davey. We will just have to wait and see. Good to see a couple of hard nuts back in the side. Dees to win with a goal after the siren!! That's my heart talking, sadly my head says no.
  14. I know he's been out for a while Paul but his name is Davey not Davie. Being picky I guess but people complain often on the spelling of Moloney.
  15. BB I certainly appreciate what you are saying. I guess since I personally witnessed those premierships in '55,'56,'57,'59 and '60 I feel a huge sense of pride in remembering just how mighty we were.( BTW, providence prevented me from attending the '58 GF. Wasn't I lucky here!) I will always remember Ron Barassi's unbelievable skills and grunt, Laurie Mithen's dazzling skills, my namesake, Bob McKenzie with his pace and beautiful torpedo goals whether on the run or set shots. I could go on but I won't. Whilst we have been starved for too long it would be worse if we had no heritage to boast about like the Saints or the Bulldogs. One premiership each a long way back. I personally, can hold my own with my peers who support other clubs. Since I was born; Carlton 11 premierships, Hawthorn 11, Melbourne 10( not far behind the pace eh? ) Essendon 10, Geelong 6, Richmond 5 and Collingwood just 4!!!!! Hope it stays that way. I just thought looking at past achievements might revive the spirits of many long suffering Demon supporters.
  16. Is Leigh Matthews a possibility?
  17. I'll pay that 'Benno'.Not sure if we were the only team to appear in 7 successive grand finals though.Do you know that for a fact? The answer I was chasing was that we are the ONLY team to win 5 premierships over a period of 6 years. 5 out of 6 aint too bad. 1955,56,57,59,60. !958 we were odds on and lost to the filth. I doubt that any team will ever match that record.
  18. Looks like most of you are stumped on this one. One final clue , we SHOULD have made a record that will never be broken. Thinking caps on please.
  19. Be patient 'Flemo56'. I'm sure the answer will come out very shortly.
  20. Correct, but not the answer I am seeking.
  21. You are correct in what you say BUT my achievement by the MFC is EVEN BETTER in my opinion. Yes, Carlton, Collingwood and Brisbane have achieved premiership hat tricks but not two.
  22. Amidst all the present doom and gloom, a question with an answer to make us proud of the mighty Demons. Since its inception what glory has the Melbourne Football Club achieved that NO OTHER club has achieved? I bet the more senior posters will get this in a flash.
  23. Melbourne sacked the great Norm Smith when we had won our first 8 games. That's really brutal.
  24. Todd was a great footballer and inspirer but what coaching experience has he had? That's my main concern.
