  1. I may be forgiven for believing Tom M is a very good wordsmith: Harrison do you miss the farm? Sure do. (the lure is strong in this one) Clarry the rehab was messy wasnt it? Sure was I didnt handle it well and then i had to have a knee op very frustrating and my teammates were concerned ( Oliver frustrated at melbourne, his teammates are concerned).
  2. I see a report Chris Burgess from GC has requested a trade to Adelaide....
  3. FWIW, I think both Gawn and May replacements (break the glass options) should be younger players who they can steward into the team. I think the reverse is true for a KPF. Is lynch too much like JVR (a worry if his is still in a boot)? We need a BBB (TMac) replacement big leading forward that frees up the rest of the forward line as threats. Its a shame JJ is likely to leave, he will do well at Sydney.
  4. Fair summary by maldon, its a flawed award. Diacos is a very good player but more of a catches the eye player than outstanding like Bont. I'd really like to see the backs recognised in a proper way, there have been many who have literally saved games but get no votes. Pleased for Viney who had a great year as well.
  5. Congratulations to Ooze, loved him as a player, as a coach for us.
  6. Ok, let me get this clear: Grundy is tall and mobile. Not the best mark but could create a contest and bring the ball down. He certainly could take over the part time ruck duties from JVR. He is a reasonable kick for goal. He would create real pressure up forward and would draw one of the two best defenders. He is AFL match fit. The choices would be: Grundy v Brown Grundy v Schack Grundy v TMac (if fit) Grundy v Smith Ah but the media say he is not a forward! Petty wasn't a forward until a week or so ago. Worth a try... IMHO.
  7. Just my two cents: Tomo had the fumbles and poor disposals but we need a third tall defender, apart from the execution he was good and he needs to be given a confidence boost. Smith, well let me contradict what I just said, he needs a full game after being on the pine for a few weeks. Tomo the sub? Woey I am torn, has showed promise, is it a good opportunity to build on that? Max talking up Brody in the press but we have to leave the forwards alone to build on the last match. Glad I am not on the match committee, Clarkson back, a difficult venue, the chance to go top two, does resting players now help us... If it wasn't North it would be no changes from last week.
  8. Good points and Harmes available to tag.
  9. With Sparrow out means JJ in the side and Harmes comes back as sub. If Petty out I would like to see TMac (or BBB) in to get an idea how that works with JVR.
  10. 6 Hibberd I know we are blinded by possessions but he had a great game 5 Viney 4 Trac 3 oliver 2 Riv 1 Petty was on track for a complete breakout and to prove me wrong.
  11. Thanks for the considered responses on Petty. Happy to be proved wrong at the moment I think we are below where we should be at both ends of the ground. If we get it right we will be very hard to beat.
  12. I am open to trusting the coaches but can anyone tell me what Goody sees in Petty down forward? He can mark and link but he is yet to actually perform the main role of a forward to kick some goals! I am convinced our backline will be better if he is down there, I really hope I am wrong.
  13. May have been answered elsewhere but where can you read the AFL rules?
  14. Wonderful news, loved his comments. A joy to watch.
  15. This will not be an easy game. Watched some of their game against the Richmond yesterday and they clearly looked the better team. We should go in with our best team and take it seriously.
  16. Good news. Just has kept trying and improving.
  17. He has a lot to play for and I hope he has been listening to Goody. Whilst you dont see it on TV what he does off the ball and after the drop will be important.
  18. Saw this good article on Hibbo today. You can see the sentiments he expressed in the article in his actions every time he takes the field. Really hope he sees out this year in style. The stars a Tassie team could target; decision time for Demon; in-demand forward focuses on recovery
  19. I trust in Taylor. Hope we bear in mind that with a Tassie team in say 3 years. we need to top up our young talent now to get through the compromised tassie draft years.
  20. I am not a fan of rotation unless its one only. If someone is injured they go out but otherwise we have a run of games where we might be able to run ourselves into some (sorely lacking) form. we really need to cement our structure and game. We have been poor up forward and that needs to be solved. I dont like Petty forward but Goody seems set on it. I think May would benefit from having Petty back and unless injured should play himself into form. North are not to be taken lightly.
  21. 6. Grundy 5. Oliver 4. Viney 3. TMac 2. Trac 1. Rivers
  22. Agree with that, I think my point is that Moore seems able to get back and anticipate whilst the others are struggling to do so but I accept its an exaggeration on my part. I think my point is their gameplan is not built on defence first. Clearly there is way to disrupt how they like to play.
  23. I am no expert but will venture a couple of observations. The Wobbles were caught out on the counter with no players able to get back quickly. Their defence is not very good with really only one quality back, Moore. The Bears seemed to take the corridor away either by matching numbers or blocking the area. Compared to other games they seemed o be forced around the boundaries more than other games. And yes Daicos should have ben reported for staging and did shirk a couple of times. I hope Harmes is available when we play them or at least Viney that will sort him out. He needs clean space, clarry on the other hand works in the middle often with several hanging off him.
