The Pick 1 Thread
Why would they believe that? North throwing away pick 2 on player bound to ask for a trade back West asap, it doesn't make any sense.

Nick Watson
I watched Watson in a game (cant recall which one) and he was very impressive but my concern is how will he prosper in the AFL environment where everything is bigger, stronger and faster? The latter being a concern as the space he makes may disappear up a level. Is his size going to be an issue amongst more mature bodies? I genuinely don't know the answer but hold a concern. Open to any views.

Pick 7 and Haynes?

The 2023 Draft and Trade Targets Thread
I think there is a bit of an obsession with picks, its been noted elsewhere what is important is the talent you can bring in. With cap space issues you want the best talent you can find and having 3 or even 6 second round picks are not much use if you don't rate them but have to pay them. Someone noted that Nth offered 4 corollas for a Ferrari which captured the point well.

The 2023 Draft and Trade Targets Thread
Our recruiters who have been excellent at picking talent in the range dont see it this year but do see it in the top range.

Are we into someone else at Adelaide? They are just trying to talk this up and its very strange to do so after Lambs comments... (ok ignore the above have just caught up on the rumours thread about Fogarty. Explains the bleating from Adelaide. )

Farewell Brodie Grundy
Very poor negotiation on the part of Sydney. An offer like that send all the wrong messages to the market. We are perfectly entitled to say to Grundy's management, we try to help players out and do quick and fair deals (see JJ and Harmes) and we have tried a fair deal for Brody but we are not going to be treated with contempt, Brody can take it up with the Swans.

Farewell James Harmes
Thanks James, an epic contribution to the club captured in one glorious grand final kick. Good luck and we look forward to seeing you back cheering on the Dees in due course. A heart that beats true.

Long way from the farm to Casey.

Farewell James Harmes
Sad to see him go but understand the desire to do so when his chances to play with us have dried up. Absolute gem of a person and team first player.

I may be forgiven for believing Tom M is a very good wordsmith: Harrison do you miss the farm? Sure do. (the lure is strong in this one) Clarry the rehab was messy wasnt it? Sure was I didnt handle it well and then i had to have a knee op very frustrating and my teammates were concerned ( Oliver frustrated at melbourne, his teammates are concerned).

Trade Rumours 2023
FWIW, I think both Gawn and May replacements (break the glass options) should be younger players who they can steward into the team. I think the reverse is true for a KPF. Is lynch too much like JVR (a worry if his is still in a boot)? We need a BBB (TMac) replacement big leading forward that frees up the rest of the forward line as threats. Its a shame JJ is likely to leave, he will do well at Sydney.

Christian Petracca a chance to win the 2023 Brownlow Medal?
Fair summary by maldon, its a flawed award. Diacos is a very good player but more of a catches the eye player than outstanding like Bont. I'd really like to see the backs recognised in a proper way, there have been many who have literally saved games but get no votes. Pleased for Viney who had a great year as well.

Congratulations to Ooze, loved him as a player, as a coach for us.

PREGAME: Rd 22 vs Carlton
Ok, let me get this clear: Grundy is tall and mobile. Not the best mark but could create a contest and bring the ball down. He certainly could take over the part time ruck duties from JVR. He is a reasonable kick for goal. He would create real pressure up forward and would draw one of the two best defenders. He is AFL match fit. The choices would be: Grundy v Brown Grundy v Schack Grundy v TMac (if fit) Grundy v Smith Ah but the media say he is not a forward! Petty wasn't a forward until a week or so ago. Worth a try... IMHO.

PREGAME: Rd 21 vs North Melbourne
Just my two cents: Tomo had the fumbles and poor disposals but we need a third tall defender, apart from the execution he was good and he needs to be given a confidence boost. Smith, well let me contradict what I just said, he needs a full game after being on the pine for a few weeks. Tomo the sub? Woey I am torn, has showed promise, is it a good opportunity to build on that? Max talking up Brody in the press but we have to leave the forwards alone to build on the last match. Glad I am not on the match committee, Clarkson back, a difficult venue, the chance to go top two, does resting players now help us... If it wasn't North it would be no changes from last week.
