  1. Have banged on about this for some time and I dare to dream we would get someone like Hawk involved. Would be ironic if we moved May forward.
  2. If there is nothing in the latest rumour (and it seems to me to be fanciful) then I'd like to see our CEO or coach get on a call to those perpetuating it and tearing strips off them.
  3. I dont think our CEO would say Trac wanted to look elsewhere if the meeting went along the lines of "i feel you are pushing me out". In any event it doesn't matter, we have been crystal clear something has to turn our heads to let him go, the whole 50/50 is irrelevant, Trac's manager must know that and its why no club has been nominated, we wont agree to a nominated club only a deal that suits us. However the story came out it doesn't help Trac get a deal done.
  4. This could get interesting, it sounds like we will not bend on our requirements (lets hope that is the case). I do not see Trac finding either Adelaide or the Goldie as being places he really wants to live in and this deal will be about his post football future as well the interim. It may dawn on him he is a Melbourne boy but without viable suitors in Melbourne. Do we make a play for one of next years free agents now?
  5. It was extraordinary, his arm was hanging limp. No doubt he wanted to contribute but in the end he was a liability. they would have been better off without him on the field. I think there is no doubt the home ground advantage has played into the Cats finals appearances (and disappearances over the years). I didn't get how all the experts tipped them with such certainty.
  6. Its a farce. Agents and players do as they please and ignore contracts they agreed to. Big clubs get the best players wanting to move. Scraps for the rest. Like the positive ideas above but the AFL isnt taking it seriously.
  7. I would like to see him given the chance he didn't get last year sounds like he has put in the effort.
  8. Yes please, love Nev.
  9. Jeepers the report suggests it will cost every household in Tas (not on Govt benefits for income) $5900 and require new state taxes of $50M per annum. Brave State Government to push that through in such a small state and their supporting legislation may fail in their upper house because the Govt doesnt have the numbers there. All that before any AFL subsidies for the team itself. Albo will be getting a lot of calls for help. Does sound very Utopia. Has to be considerable doubt on the timetable now.
  10. Welcome Stephen look forward to your first premiership as coach. In the past I didn't like Buckley but that was based on the colour of his jumper rather than any rational basis. I have been surprised at how much I liked him in the media. Whatever the reason he didnt get or take the job its now irrelevant but we should be grateful he and the others considered it and engaged in the process.
  11. Nice piece by Clarry, I certainly hope we keep him as he is not a spent force.
  12. He is certainly in rarefied air. Robbie was just briiliant to watch. Barrassi likewise was a force of nature. All three exceptional and legends in very different ways. In the words of Kozzie: "why not (all three?)"
  13. Max is a legend. As for the captaincy its a joke and puts Cameron in an embarrassing position. Either its awarded for outstanding team leadership for the year or renamed as something else if the criteria are different. Dawson / Gawn have a greater claims as actual leaders. If the criteria is the player who has had the most outstanding year (but wont win a Brownlow because of the position they play in) they should be honest about that. I am all in favour of recognising the non mids in some way given the Brownlow bias).
  14. Well Roos is no dummy as we know. Bucks has to respect he process and rightly is not giving a blow by blow but did slip up a bit and almost say he is in the process. He probably wants the option of saying in the end he wasn't interested in the event we are genuinely running a process or we cant come up with his non negotiables (whatever they are). For example he will want to know as part of the process who is likely to be there and who is on the trade block.
  15. I thought Adams laboured well all day and whilst beaten showed promise, so he will be stiff to miss out. Maybe May to FF and JVR to CHF. 😉
  16. All pretty unsurprising once Buckley said he would take the call the others would have been very shy of engaging. No doubt Simpson would have a very direct line to understanding where we are heading. Caro's very ham fisted intervention also suggests it heading in one direction. You would hope the Board had a pretty good idea of its options before it acted which doesn't mean its Buckley or bust just that they had an idea of the possible field and who they would entertain as realistic options.
  17. Tmac Gawn Rivers Langford Bowey Culley
  18. Some signs of life but not in the middle other a few sparks from clarry. Two things stood out, how easy it was for them at clearances and how quickly they transitioned to spaces where they outnumbered us. Still we had a crack and the younger players were good. Collingwood will be especially nervous .
  19. He has no dog in the fight and what he says is true. Facilities and other issues are a big factor. That said it didn't hold Bucks back. Watching 360 I suspect both Horse and Simpson were cagey is because Buckley has effectively declared and they wouldn't want to be seen to be in the race and then unsuccessful.
  20. Just got the Bring a friend for free to Round 22 text ....... any ideas on who to bring?
  21. Poor Ed. An absolute no win question. It was absolutely clear Goody had a great relationship with the players. The phrase "new voice" really has little to do with that but rather fresh ideas, strategy and motivation.
  22. Not that the Board will admit this but Goody was right about stability and consequently I think that means we need a proven senior coach who can demand the respect of the players and the Board. An untried coach will not succeed until we get a stable base. Having reflected overnight I think its pretty much Horse or bust. He was smart enough to know he couldn't go around again at Sydney and had a succession plan in place. Yes he lost GF's but he got there and I may have previously noted the SCG home ground advantage is very significant until you get to finals where its a liability. He will have an immediate and positive impact on our playing group and trade targets. I think the idea floated last night of an Enright/ Hinkley double act is intriguing. Not sure its the answer. Clearly there is unfinished business for Buckley, which may be the reason he is not right for the job. I I just have no idea about Simpson other than he recent TV form, which was very different to his last years at WCE.
  23. Thank you Simon, you can probably never quite imagine your impact in delivering that flag. Having supported the Dees over six decades it was simply unbelievable and a joyous moment for me and all Dees supporters. We went from hoping to win to expecting to win, that is also a great legacy. I cannot thank you enough. You are a Red and Blue legend.
  24. Well said Goody at the end. Thank you.
  25. Whilst the title of this thread is correct I think it would be better to call it: Thank you Simon. Whatever position you take on his tenure he brought us a flag in our lifetimes, will forever be a legend of the club and should be respected and revered. So from me with deep gratitude and respect, thank you Simon for making a dream come true. I hope you leave understanding how much you mean to the demon faithful.
