"There's a strong argument," Gil McLachlan on a Priority Pick.
P-man replied to PartyTimeJohnny's topic in Melbourne Demons
I guess it's less about how deserving we are and more a case of it being so bloody shameful that we're in need of this level of assistance when you look at the numbers of first round picks we've squandered. -

Fair enough. Perhaps "deserve" does not apply, unless you enter into a discussion about a club previously acquiring picks through tanking, and then putting its hand out for more, but let's not open that one up again because I know there are some on here who still believe we didn't tank. The club's situation is entirely of its own making. Perhaps not relevant when talking about our eligibility or how "deserving" we are, but the focus should well and truly be on a poor history of player development and ensuring THAT is remedied. Personally I think the rewards of when this club finally lifts itself out of the mire will feel all the sweeter if it is able to be done, to the best of its ability, off its own bat. Financial assistance is a necessity, a PP is a nice to have. -

I find it very difficult to argue with people who say we don't deserve a PP. The number of high draft picks we've pi$$ed away in recent years is staggering. If the assistance we are receiving doesn't include a PP, I won't be complaining. -
Definitely one of the more bizarre decisions.

Every forum needs a Wayne. Keep up the solid work Wayno.

It's worth noting too that this was after what was one of the most competitive showings for the year, arguably the most competitive. Imagine what he would have been like if we'd been smacked by 80 points.

Seriously bizarre observation. No offence, but your support for Neeld has brought you to the point of delusion. It was in total contrast to a Neeld conference full of excuses and "it is what it is". There was no excuses. Nowhere to hide. Complete non acceptance of where the club was at and the level of competitiveness. It could hardly have been more different to a Neeld presser and was frankly a breath of fresh air.

Frawley definitely.

He was certainly playing like someone who wants to stay in terms of his body language, I believe he'll stay, but it's by no means a certainty yet.
-
Fair call. That's a bad drop no doubt, but the fact he was high as 76% means it is within him to improve, and improve significantly.
-
And yeah, what happened to Mitch's face?

Nice touch.

He does do that a fair but, but let's be honest, he's in good company. We have made looping kicks and generally missing targets a speciality. Collectively there is alot of improvement to be made with our disposal. He is extremely dangerous on the run in front of goal. He's proven that. I think his field kicking will improve the more he plays. At the moment I am just enjoying watching players who are willing to take the game on, and he's one of them.

Might be too late but: 6. Garland - superb 5. Sylvia - we need to be keeping this bloke if we can, he is now getting some consistency, though hopefully it's not simply due to him advertising himself to potential buyers..you'd really hope not. 4. N Jones - par 3. Watts - thank god we now have a coach who realises this guy is not a defender, what a farce that entire thing was.. 2. Spencil 1. T Mac Honourable mention: Toump

And most importantly, can convert.

Colin Garland is the best player at Melboune Football Club

It's actually been a joy to watch his development this year, a rare highlight. He is willing to back himself now against anyone. You can see he is developing genuine swagger. Definitely should be in AA discussion, at least for the full squad, maybe not the final cut. -
That will improve. I have faith that he's going to be a very, very good player.
-
It might be time to accept that maybe he's just slow. How long is he going to have this mysterious injury that no-one can or will confirm? It seriously looks like he's running on the spot compared to every other player out there. So frustrating cause he's got skills with ball in hand. He's just too slow to ever get near it.

I've had a few lads but I will say that whilst it was a loss, arguably most watchable game this year. Was sitting next to a scum Bombers fan who was sgenuinely surprised at some passages of play. We've got something to build upon. Love Sammy Blease. Love the Toump. Go you [censored] Demons.

I actually thought it was when they broke the news to him that Dunn would be playing again this week.

Having long hair pretty much guarantees being stopped at airports. 100% strike rate when I had it.
-
His interviews on the club website aren't much better. He doesn't need to be doing that stuff anyway. He's one of the few who is letting his football do the talking.

By my count, these five guys have only played together a total of three times. Things will turn around. They bloody well have to eventually.
