So the only alternative to McLardy is Kennett? I can't believe people are supporting this. Jesus Christ. We really are over a barrel.
-
Well he's certainly put the cat amongst the pigeons, as evidenced by this thread. I agree with him, but not so far as to hope that we get smashed. There is next to no chance that Neeld will be here next year anyhow, so might as well ride this nightmare out and hope for some competitive efforts. You know you're gonna get this sort of thing from the Ox, but I think questioning his motives or having this displace him as a club champ is just garbage. You only have to listen to him when he speaks to know that he speaks directly from the heart. I don't believe it's got anything to do with elevating his media profile. He is just a supporter whose passed his breaking point at watching what the club is going through. He's in pretty good company I would've thought, and he sure as hell has contributed more to this club than a certain knobend in this thread who has yet again nominated himself as a club spokesperson.

lol What a horrendous thing to even contemplate, let alone support. How many times has he gone on record berating the club, calling for mergers etc, Publicly smashes Clarkson after a loss, then apologises, putting it down to just venting "like a supporter". This amongst all the other garbled nonsense that comes out of his mouth these days. Sure, let's give that guy the keys.

What do you want out of the remainder of 2013?

If we ever win a flag, there will have to be a massive Demonland bash. Attendance compulsory. -

It's gonna take a while to win that back. Certainly longer than the rest of this season. -
Correct, but it would appear the bulk of supporters can no longer justify going to watch their team get massacred every week. So unless we can acquire some sort of mind altering device, " it is what it is". There seem to be a few sarcasm detectors in need of repair. I hope we smash the filth the weekend, let's get that clear.

Let me clarify my comments then, because clearly that's not my wish. No-one will be happier than me if Neeld can turn this [censored] truck around and stick it up naysayers like myself. It's not about him, it's about the team of which he is holding the reigns. I totally understand the "finding the positives in defeat" exercise. For gods sake, I'm a Dees supporter. I'm practically an expert at it. On another forum (that shall remain nameless), I defended against opposition fans who couldn't stomach the idea of finding any satisfaction out of the loss to Richmond. To them it as still a 6 goal loss that should've been alot more if the Tigers brought their shooting boots. In part I agreed, but on the whole we were looking for a significant lift in the non-negotiables: effort, second efforts, hard running, sticking tackles. We got that. It doesn't alter the fact that those things are NON negotiables, but we got them. finally. But surely a game that is as one sided as the weekend can only be defended so far. Aside from the third quarter, we got absolutely steamrolled. The statement, "the best 95 point loss I've ever seen" is almost signature worthy. It perfectly encapsulates just how far we have sunk as a football club. So forgive me not joining in the celebration of a 100 point thumping to a team we haven't beaten since Adam was a lad. What you seemingly found enjoyable, for the most part I found unwatchable. Just another one to chalk up. I'll show your level of enthusiasm when we can give a team like that a genuine scare. Just a scare. Or if we can beat an established club. Just one win. I know, I set the bar pretty high.
-
.....the best 95 point loss you've ever seen? Are you fellas extracting the urine? Ah whatever. I look forward with baited breath to a near record low QB crowd and yet another humiliating scoreline. Maybe this one will be the best 112 point loss you've ever seen. Although you'd hope Neeld has at least a couple of tricks up his sleeve against his old mob. Here's hoping for the best 70 point loss you've ever seen.

Matt Thompson could not have a worse head for tv. I'm reluctant to click any link that means having to look at him for an extended period.
-
Of course not, but by your own admission, "more decisions may be made than usual". I think to suggest that the perception this meeting has greater significance is purely media driven is pretty far fetched. Anyhow, if by tomorrow it was revealed to be just another day at the office, I'll concede that I was just another media lapdog.
-
Okay, significant structural changes are just a weekly occurrence. They'll also be discussing what unseasonal weather we're having lately.
-
But we don't know if he's still meeting KPIs...
-
McLardy: "I can assure you our board is working very closely with CEO Peter Jackson to effect a turn-around as soon as possible and put in place a structure that will get us some sustained success. You can expect to hear the first steps in that process over the next couple of weeks." I think it's safe to say it will hardly be just any old Board meeting.
-
Uh oh... Please don't tell me he then coughed and shuffled some papers.
-
Did he scratch his left ear or his right?
-
I actually didn't realise there was that many of the current crop playing against us in 2011. I had memories of it being very much a second string Freo side. That is quite a damning reflection on how the two teams have progressed since.
-
I doubt anyone wishes for that. Of course it sucks that it has lead to this. His intentions were decent, the plan has just been poorly executed on the whole. I'm sure some of the changes he has made will carry through to any future success, but he has to be moved on and now. Anyhow, he may still be coach tomorrow. Just don't expect any miracles for the rest of the year if that happens. More thrashings. More lost ticket sales. More lost memberships. More lost time.
-
Ridiculous post by your standards. It's not the main grounds for his dismissal, but certainly it is part of the picture which adds to the frustration.
-
UH, it's hardly guessing when I can judge on what is said publicly, and that has switched from things turning around "quicker than people realise" and expectations of surpassing the number of wins from last season (now looking near on impossible), to overemphasis on the "rebuild of a rebuild", 3-5 year projections, and meeting one percenters in 100 point losses. There is no possible way that internal expectations would have been this level of competitiveness at this stage of his tenure, unless the expectation was to be reduced to the same level as Fitzroy. I differ completely from you in what message I believe will be sent tonight. Parting ways with Neeld would be a statement that we are not in any way accepting of the level to which we have been reduced, which is undeniably rock bottom, and Neeld IS accountable for that. I hate the term "line in the sand", but this is definitely ours.
-
This is part of the problem. The fact you're calling for an explanation of the plan at this stage of his tenure speaks volumes about the state of confusion over our current predicament. Neeld lays claim to consistency of messages but this simply isn't true. The goalposts have noticeably shifted to explain away the weekly thrashings we've received this year, and one can't help attribute some of that to Neeld attempting to save face. I no longer trust our senior coach. Right now, he screams of a man looking to justify the perilous position he has placed us in, both on and off field. Right now he is pissing on everyone's shoes and claiming it to be raining, and frankly, it angers me as a supporter.
-
I think it was due to him being willing to take the game on. Players like that who wear red and blue tend to stand out. For his bulky frame, he is very quick. When you add his skills and aggression, we could do alot worse than acquire another 2 or 3 Dean Kents.
-
Would you give money and go to games with new coach?
P-man replied to Norm Smith's Curse's topic in Melbourne Demons
It's no secret that I want Neeld gone, but I'm willing to back in PJ's judgement whichever way he goes. I'll continue paying up membership regardless, and i'd fly to Melbourne more often to see games once they are worth going to see. -
I enjoy your displays of passion, but my god you are reactive. Every second week you announce that the death of the MFC is imminent. Dawes plays 3 half decent games and you call for him to be made captain (wtf?) and state that he could become a club LEGEND. How are you even making that judgement without having watched a game since Round 2? Because of his well chosen words in a presser? Video snippets don't count. I know it's difficult, heartbreaking even, but you can't honestly expect anyone to take you seriously to comment on the progress of a team you're not even watching.
-
I know this is hardly new, but it is just wrong not to have Jones in the Demonland banner. He is the absolute heart and soul of this club right now. Should anyone in the banner need to be removed, he has to be next in line surely.
