  1. I hate the current emblem. All corporate. no soul. I've said before that to me it looks like about seven different design concepts jammed into one, and represents an era of the club I want to forget. I really like the one in the OP, especially the silhouette as a throwback to the 80s demon. Great job stu, would get my vote.
  2. Todd Viney doesn't work in an insolation booth. I think it's a bit much to not give Neeld due credit for recruiting decisions. As senior coach he would've played an important role, particularly in convincing the likes of Dawes and Clark to sign.
  3. I notice certain absences in your list - Gillies, Pedersen, Sellar.. Overall I'd say he gets a tick on recruiting. You can argue about the obvious choices in Toumpas, Viney, even Hogan..but if the likes of Jones, Dawes and Terlich are in the team when it is anything resembling a success, we will tip our hat to Neeld.
  4. At the very least, the rest of the year will be intriguing to watch. Not expecting to suddenly see a different team, but knowing of the changes to come, and with what i still believe is a talented core group of players, there is a sense of hope that feels pretty good to be honest.
  5. To be fair, arrogance is a fairly common trait amongst successful AFL coaches. They just tend to have ability to go with it.
  6. Obviously agree with someone who can motivate, but I think the Neeld experiment has shown that a hard arse who walks in with guns blazing might sound nice in theory, but isn't always the most practical option. I support Eade as an option by the way.
  7. LOL..how old is he? 30 going on 12?
  8. Deeply unfortunate, but the right move in my view.
  9. This was your post: Only two posters had listed their entire ins and outs from the leadership group, and only one, the OP, had omitted Trengove. Your post had no basis, particularly as i think those who would want Trengove out of the leadership group altogether would be in the minority. I also not sure what rewarding loyalty has to do with Trengove's case. Has he really been here long enough for that to be a factor? You could make a case for Frawley based on loyalty perhaps.
  10. Firstly, protects the kids? What does this even mean? What is he "protecting" them from? The big bad opposition? It's a contact sport. Secondly, he has played FIVE games. He's done admirably, probably about par for what we gave up for him. But there is very little doubt that his comments in the media have raised his profile enormously with supporters. His words have resonated with supporters, and rightly so. He makes the right noises. But you can't tell me it doesn't have alot to do with why his name is suddenly being raised on here as captain material. Yes he was part a premiership team. So was Shannon Byrnes. If your'e going to strip Grimes of the captaincy and hand it to someone who has just literally walked in the door, I think it would want to be a bigger player than Chris Dawes. It screams knee jerk to me. I'm not questioning his leadership qualities. Early signs are that he has alot to bring to thetable in that regard. But frankly he hasn't been in the team long enough to make a sound judgement on him as a captain. The way people are carrying on you'd swear it was Jonathon Brown we were discussing here. Finally, coming from someone who has stated he would spit in the face of Cameron Schwab if he saw him, and who thinks a new coach will be some kind of magic wand that will suddenly turn us into world beaters, I don't think your judgement on terrible posts carries much weight.
  11. What on earth? What is this "they" business? From what I can tell, Ben is the only one calling him "Nerd". A reasoned case for his dismissal? There is a 140 PAGE THREAD on the subject, and there are plenty of reasoned arguments contained within. Strange post.
  12. Agreed. He's been here five minutes. Saying he's the obvious choice for captain because of a few well spoken press conferences is pretty cringeworthy and reeks of desperation. Grimes is a worthy captain of this club,
  13. No Frawley?
  14. I see only two posters who have listed the leadership group in full, and only one has Trengove out of it (the OP), so not sure where you're coming from there.
  15. Trengove is debatable but Grimes should remain captain.

  17. Good post, I think your point re Freeman is a valid one, but you could also view it as him appreciating the size of the task, and therefore giving it the consideration it deserves.
  18. Can we just agree that there have been that many stuff ups in practically ever facet of running a football club, it makes it difficult to isolate which ones are the chief contributors.
  19. ....seriously? Still? You're loyal to the cause mate, I'll give you that much.
  20. Gysberts, Petterd and Morton can hardly get a a look in at their respective clubs, or none at all, so I think it's a bit much to be overly critical for moving them on. Gys has been mostly underwhelming for Werribee (unless they are beating up on a half strength Queanbeyan in the Foxtel Cup), whilst the Tiges seem to have their best 22 sorted, and Petterd is comfortably outside of it. Moloney and Rivers have proven to be major losses, and both have publicly criticised Neeld since leaving. He simply needed to appreciate their importance to a team with so few senior quality players, and do what was required to keep them on board, certainly for this season. He failed to do so, and it will be a significant factor that costs him his job.
  21. Comments re King are spot on. They recently replayed his comments regarding Neeld last year. He couldn't have looked more smug if he tried. His comments were still premature. The fact they now appear to be correct doesn't alter the fact that at the time, there was not enough evidence to make such a call. Every time he is introduced as one of "the sharpest minds in footy" I vomit just a little bit. He's lucky Maclure is there on 360 to make him look like slightly less of a toolbag.
  22. I'd prefer Eade over Matthews. Lethal has been out of the game a while now, and his commentary leads me to believe there have been a few more screws loosened in that time. And there is of course THAT comment about the Clark selection. Frankly I'd be very surprised if he had any interest at all in the position. Rocket's finger has never left the pulse, and his record, whilst without the ultimate success, speaks for itself. I think he'd be up for it and would be a great get, althogh Roos and Choco are still ahead of him on my wish list, whilst Clarkson is a pipe dream.
  23. A fortnight? So potentially right after we play the Dogs and the Saints, two games in which we have a remote chance of being competitive. Are they really going to give him the sack if we put in decent showings against those sides? Of all the times to do it, that would be an odd choice. That said, if we get smashed by those sides, that puts the issue beyond any doubt, surely. Nothing against you personally, but I'm pretty sick of these "Sack Watch" predictions coming from all corners. They've clearly all been wrong thus far. Even as someone who wants to see him go, this whole thing has taken on a morbid quality which I don't like.
  24. Yeah I understand that, by "yesterday" I meant recently. By most accounts Connolly is quite adept in his defined role. I'm not saying there is any merit to it, but that would strike me as a pretty bold decision.
  25. Whilst I trust Caro as far as I could throw her, the claim about Connolly is a strange one. If I'm understanding it correctly, he would be paid out an a contract that was basically signed yesterday?
