If we keep holding it up and kicking to a contest we are going to continue to get brutalised. They are far superior and frankly hungrier in winning contested ball so its just going to keep coming back the other way. If we can just get some possession chains going I'll be happy. Davey MUST get into this game. 4 disposals in a half of footy. Turn it up Aaron, you're a senior player. Start playing like one.

Hallelujah.

Some of our tackles still look like hugs.

I think I've overestimated Kent's ability.

Oh god..the commentary. King: "I just love the way Geelong blah blah blah.." Dwayne: "Premiership defender David King there." McGuire: "<insert incredibly condescending comment about 'the Melbourne team'>" Dwayne:"<insert equally condescending and crap joke about how bad Melbourne are>" Dunstall: "At least they are matching the Cats in inside 50s.." Dwayne: "Coleman medallist and premiership player Jason Dunstall.." Make it stop. Please make it stop.

Desperation is there, hopefully it stays this way for four quarters.
-
Lol at that "oy oy oy" chant they do every time someone kicks a goal. Nice one Byrnesy!
-
Like today isn't going to be tough enough, we have Dwayne Russell and David King to inflict a bit more pain.

I did quite like how the English press dubbed him Agar the 'Orrible.

If this is true then the mancrush is well and truly on.

Funny you say that. When we were 9/117, and my mates were texting me with their frustration over our total capitulation, I told them this was what it was like being a Melbourne supporter for the past couple of years, only you have to endure it every single weekend. I think they finally understood.

Master stroke from Boof to bring in another batsman, then stick him at 11 and tell everyone he's a left arm spinner. Not every day a 19 year old carves out a piece of history for himself. Absolutely brilliant stuff. Agar might have a few records to his name now but what he's also achieved is remind me why I love cricket.
-
Somewhat fitting that he plays his 150th against a bloke on the other team also playing his 150th - J Selwood. Similar in that they are both heart and soul players for their respective clubs, yet are poles apart in terms of success on the field. Hopefully Jonesy gets to see the success he has earned in his service to the club, and the path to that success has begun in earnest.

lol...no mercy shown. Like the effort you put into this idea Tony, but that's just about all I like about it. Sorry champ.

He's said he'll do what's right for him. Hopefully he still feels at season's end that what's right for him is staying at the club. I hope he stays and I suspect he will, but I'll hold off the celebrations until he actually signs. I think it's fair to say he's pulled the digit out this season. People were asking for some consistency of effort and performance. He's providing that.

He'd make a poor Elvis impersonator?
-
His body language tonight was noticably different. Might be reading too much into it, but I actually think there's a decent chance now.

Byrnes leads T-Mac?? I demand a recount. I would echo C&B's request that we get the tally for each round, rather than just the progress votes.
-
I gave him a vote today as I could see him working hard as he has done all this season. 21 touches and another 5 tackles to maintain his 4.6 average, placing him in the league's top 50. I hope he stays.

6. Fitzpatrick 5. Garland 4. Terlich 3. M Jones 2. Dawes 1. Sylvia N Jones just outside.

Definitely the worst one I can recall against us. And I don't accept they were just "errors". A Swans player would have ample opportunity, get tackled, drop the ball, play on called. Happened numerous times.
-
Some thoghts: I try to avoid the cliche of being overly critical of umpiring, but it was a total disgrace today and cost us momentum. Fitzy fantastic again. I can see him attracting some interest from other clubs. Kieran Jack is an absolute star and we had no answers to what he was doing, especially out of the middle. Toumpas a bit disappointing and Nicho undid most of his good work last week. Terlich very good but has a bit of the Nath Jones of old - trying to do too much in congestion and getting caught. Dawes immense in the second half. Final margin might have flattered us a little bit but still another step forward and alot to like. No doubt now that we are a better side under Craig.

-995 points. I am a maths machine.

Pass. His best is still alright but his worst now is awful. We have Garlo. We don't need him. That said, the suggested straight swap for Pedersen I'd be open to..haha.
-
Wouldn't we all, but I think the Swans will be very keen on re-signing him. Is now their 12th best player on AFL rankings, which in that team is impressive. I actually rate Dwyer quite highly, should've been picked up by an AFL club a long time ago. Has a few strings to his bow as a mid-forward who can win his own ball and also provide a bit of run and carry. I like Matt Jones and applaud his efforts this year, but Dwyer would be an upgrade.
