You can only laugh at some of Watts' efforts. The throwing out the arm to look like something resembling an attempt at a tackle has become a trademark.

Looked a bit like a Melbourne supporter in that shot.

Contested possessions 88-88 Clearances 28-25

In previous years I would've agreed but this has alot more to do with skill than effort. The number of poor to deplorable kicks we have in the side is alarming, and this ugly lockdown style of play just seems to be delaying the inevitable when they have players who can spread, link and execute 10 times better than us as soon as the ball comes free. Most teams are just fitter, stronger and more skillful. Also, Frawley shouldn't be playing again this year. Disgraceful.
-
They would. Currently, we are the worst side in the league.

I'm thinking the youngsters like Viney and JKH are the only ones who will be playing finals at this club. The list is just in too awful a condition.
-
They're scoring for fun.

2 points. There's a dark humour in this.

lol What a completely rubbish team. Still. STILL.
-
Agree. They give credence to Saty's nonsense. Not warranted.

Another shocking Grimes kick. Sigh.

Fantastic chase Howe.

This game needs more stoppages.

Animal as the tagger?

Fair enough, I'm not in a position to watch Casey to make a judgement on his form. The backline isn't a huge concern for mine. Frawley will be a loss, but even If he leaves, someone like Pedo could slot back in with Hogan to come into the side. Garland too will obviously need to return to something resembling his 2013 form. I would also a suggest that the LAST thing we need is another defender who can't kick. I don't want to lay the boot into the guy, but I didn't see anything that said he could be an AFL player. I'll leave it to those much wiser to make such a call, but it would be a big one.
-
But, he did. How much value you place on him being lost is up to you, but he looked lost. I don't think he's good enough. Is that phrasing more to your liking?
-
Probably a bit too left field TD, but nothing wrong with outside the box. It's the proposals everyone scoffs at that can sometimes be the best. He did seem utterly lost at AFL level though.
-
I wouldn't think it is nearly as absolute as that. He needs to be given some leeway for readjustment to the pace at the elite level. It is crunch time for Tappy, but you would think he has the remaining games to prove his worth, not just one. He's earned his spot, so that's the first step. I'm pumped to see him run out there this weekend. He could triumph, he could fail, but there's only one way to find out if he has a future at this club and that is to let him play.

Players to target at the end of the year
P-man replied to JackVineyForPresident's topic in Melbourne Demons
You know statements like this can be shown up, right? http://demonland.com/forums/index.php?/topic/34462-welcome-to-the-melbourne-football-club-daniel-cross/?hl=%2Bdaniel+%2Bcross Please point to the posts where you were "howled down". Browsing the first few pages I'm struggling to find one post which wasn't in support of acquiring Cross. It was pretty much unanimous. Sewell's body however is starting to give up on him. He'll finish at the Hawks. -
Carn Tappy.

Rapt for Dom. Roosy is going to make a player of this kid, bookmark it.
-
Well, there it is then. He's gone.

Players to target at the end of the year

I'd be very interested in Greenwood if he was still on the outer at North and we could get him on the cheap. Unfortunately he had to go ahead and have a stellar season and cement himself in their best 22. -
Not what I was saying, rjay. Of course his game has to mature and develop, but my point was that a confidence to want to take the game on is something JKH seems to have in spades. He backs himself. You can see it. That is what I hope is not compromised too much simply in the name of slowing the play down. I wasn't questioning Miller's review.

Based on those reports, Riley seems a much greater chance than Blease. Found this interesting: Jay Kennedy-Harris: Jay played wing and high half-forward. He had a really solid game last week and I thought Jay backed it up this week, by playing his role well. He had five tackles, missed two and had zero fumbles, so that was a highlight of Jay’s game. I thought he was really clean around traffic. Jay often gained an advantage for us, which was really great to see on the day. He had a tendency to want to always play on after taking a mark or gaining a free kick, which is something we will address this week, as there are times he needs to be more composed and allow the play to unfold first. He kicked a really nice goal in the last quarter, just through repeat efforts and pressure in the forward line. We thought he played his role for the second week in a row. As someone who watches a team move the ball at a snail's pace every week, to almost inevitably hand it back to the opposition anyway, I love the fact his instinct is to move the ball on quickly. There's obviously a balance needed, but I hope he keeps his natural game.
