Great observation. It was like your eyes were deceiving you watching this kid half the size of his opponent wrap them up in a bear hug and not allow them to move.Oozes class and smarts. He looks to me like an upgraded version of Cotchin. Cotchin 2.0, with all the bugs removed.

Great stuff. I really think this fella has something special.

Wowee. Overdramatise much? Not sure why you would pick him out for mistakes. Tyson, Viney, Watts etc all made their fare share yesterday. But they still provided solid contributions as did Crossy. He's better than just a tagger, You're singling out the player who had the second most contested possessions on the day. When the coach and players drill on and on about standards, who do you think is setting them out there? The standard fairy? It's the bloke who fights for the ball like his life depends on it and plays like it means something to wear the jumper. He'll be squeezed out of the side when someone has well and truly earned his spot. That moment hasn't arrived yet. The "hack" has played a massive role in the revitalistion of your football club. A little respect wouldn't go astray.

Vince is a straight swap for Toump. How to squeeze Dawes in is the (nice) problem. Possibly JKH, but I'm not overly comfortable with it.

One of the worst posts I've seen. Hang your head.

I think this is a fair call. I haven't seen him play a better game.

You and me both champ. I'll be there in full voice next week when we go 2-0. What a great all round performance. Not just the win, but the way they played. Still buzzing. Phone has gone off. The amber fluid will flow tonight.

DEMONLAND PLAYER OF THE YEAR - ROUND 1, 2015
P-man replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
I ask again this year that the sample be broadened to at least five or six. Three is too small as the middle tier players sometimes don't get the recognition they deserve in the final rankings, because their votes are missed. I took a sample of ten in the unofficial one last year and the top five were the same, but it is the ranking of players beyond the Joneses and Tysons that I think many are interested in. Thanks. A response to this suggestion would be appreciated. I'm yet to receive one. -
Cause we've spoken at length about where Grimes needs to improve and reasons as to why it's gone wrong. It's all covering old ground. It may well play no part at all. I'm just looking at the timeline of when the quality of his on-field contributions went south. I would ask, what's the actual harm in going back to his old number? If it's irrelevant then no harm no foul, right? I dare say he was enjoying his footy a lot more while he was wearing it. That's the last I'll say on it cause it's a just a minor thought.
-
I was counting down until someone would say this. A little longer than expected. No-one is blaming his form purely on him wearing the number 31. But let's look at when he started to nosedive. It was when he took on both the captaincy and the esteemed number. You can't say with any certainty what goes through his mind. He's spoken about what it means to him and the responsibility that comes with wearing it. Are you really in a place to be speaking with authority on the workings of the mind of Jack Grimes? Every little percent counts in this game.

Salivating? Over Liam Jones? You are kidding, surely. He's a decent mark but his set shots are the stuff of nightmares, and when he fades out of games, which is often, he becomes Mr Invisible. I think we got a decent glimpse of where Carlton will be this year. They will be able to turn it on for a quarter, maybe two, but their unaccountable midfield and now even worse forward line will continue to be the death of them. Their list really is in no man's land at the moment.
-
I still can't quite believe we've picked up a small forward of his calibre for basically nothing.

This has been a snoozer for sure. Two teams that will be offering up 8 points for grabs.

A: Yes

Richmond look like balls.

No Grimes. Wow. That's big. Good looking team on paper. Massive chance.

Might have to pick it up to read the context. It's disappointing to hear such a pretentious line come from such a brilliant mind. Humour, like most pursuits, is not one size fits all. To cast a certain section as "without a sense of humour" because they don't conform to an ideal of what is funny is inane. Some brands of humour don't require much thought. Dave Hughes certainly falls into that category. That doesn't make him a lesser comedian because some people deem him unfunny. I find Adam Hills to be extremely plain in a comedic sense, but I'm not going to question his following simply because I personally don't find him funny. That's just being pompous. There isn't a comedian on the planet that is universally declared to be funny. Like every profession in the public eye, the greater your profile, the more people there are to knock you down.

Oh what the hell, I'll bite. When/where did Cleese say this?
-
The rhetoric coming out of Essendon and its supoorters has gone beyond the point of ridiculous. It conjures up post-war images of crying and hugging in the street the way they are carrying on.

I laughed. His sprays are generally pretty good. Good to see the Hulk with a big grin. A rare sight.

Would be a very big get. Here's hoping it has some substance.
