  1. Yes. Also at lower/junior levels, which then discourages gay players from persevering, regardless of their ability.
  2. Any studies to back that up? This from a quick search, maybe you have other research: "The annual incidence of registry-identified miscarriage has declined significantly between 1998 and 2016." https://academic.oup.com/humrep/article/34/11/2120/5611272
  3. We don't hold any cards here. Given that Preuss is a fringe player who wants to leave for better opportunities, in the current AFL environment his contract is as good as worthless. About the only things we have going for us is that neither us nor the Giants want to be seen as [censored] to deal with, because sooner or later that's going to come back to bite you (see Essendon).
  4. He also wants to leave. 3rd round.
  5. That's a low bar. I'm sure that those small country teams that lose every match by 10 goals or more are "trying to win matches". What spelt the downfall of Fitzroy wasn't that they were uncompetitive, but that they went into administration.
  6. If we assume that what you mean by "success" is on-field success, we clearly are not. If that were the case, then clubs with the biggest "investment" (= most members) would consistently have on-field success, and vice versa. You only have to look at the teams in the 8 this year to see that that's demonstrably untrue.
  7. I don't believe that "winning football matches" or any performance-related objective appears anywhere in the club's statutes or constitution.
  8. We're not shareholders and we're not investing, we're buying memberships (a product).
  9. "Bennell’s partner Amy Crellin, who is pregnant, and his young daughter Carter, had already returned to Perth." https://www.perthnow.com.au/sport/afl/former-coach-ross-lyon-pledges-for-harley-bennell-support-amid-return-to-wa-ng-b881682358z
  10. Goodwin was never going anywhere.
  11. Not sure we want/need both Voss and Richardson? Starts to get a bit top heavy I would have thought.
  12. Because players aren't used cars. If he wants to go then the question of keeping him doesn't arise, contract or not.
  13. Isn't this what Richardson's job was supposed to entail on a permanent/running basis, overseeing the coaching/coaches?
  14. Tom Morris "Melbourne confirms Jack Viney will be a Demon until at least the end of 2025. Geelong have known for a couple of weeks he would stay. Goodwin relationship a huge factor."
  15. Happy for him to have done "well" at a bottom-4 team like the Hawks. Even happier that the club did the right thing and moved him on. The issue here that most are overlooking was his inability to take instructions or criticism, or even consistently do what he was supposed to, highlighted by the on-field verbal stoush with Steven May.
  16. As much as anything, evidence that Hawthorn have no real backline depth, leaving Frost to play every game. No regrets.
  17. I'm in France. Unlike the States in Oz, the Regions here have zero statutory or legislative power. They couldn't enforce border controls even if they wanted - though there are no regional borders anyway, except for a "Welcome to" sign alongside the autoroute. The Regions basically run the education system locally, build roads and public transport infrastructure, contribute to culture and tourism, but that's about it. Apart from that, they're largely symbolic: if you want to get on politically in France you run for mayor, you don't go into the Region.
  18. Somewhat disingenuous. Not all countries have the same systems of internal governance, nor for that matter the same geographies or travel infrastructure.
  19. Shame that Jack's career should basically be ended by injury.
  20. Impressive from Caleb Daniel. Dogs have a decent list, better than ours I'd venture (more depth).
  21. Which is why he kept getting games. We had a bunch of kids up forward, and in the absence of the likes of Jones or Lewis or even Tom Mac, there had to be someone with a bit of experience. The fact that he got the stand-in captain job also says something about how the club - and players - see him. Also, and in spite of everything, he was still 3rd on our goal kicking. (OK, he played every game, but still ...) Doesn't excuse poor performances, but the comment here for me is not so much how poor Melksham was, but our lack of depth in maturity and experience.
