  1. Don't know about that. Think of it a bit like catching up with an ex-girlfriend/wife. On the other hand, Davey will be gone in any case, and Jamar is signed. Sylvia ... has started to play with a bit more intensity, and at least he's not doing what Moloney did around this time last year, which was to have his agent start calling round to remind everyone that he was "available".
  2. FWIW, I'm currently taking an over-the-counter cough syrup that has a "contains a product that may give a positive result in an anti-doping test" warning. I just don't get this "not authorised for human use" bit, when you can buy it in any chemists. Much confusion here regarding what things are and how and when they're used. Even coffee is a banned substance in certain contexts.
  3. First post? And so pleased with it you liked it yourself.
  4. So, from Neeld we've gone to Danks ... still not much Jackson, but there you go. FWIW, the cream that has been mentioned is not a prescription item, it's widely available over-the-counter. My understanding is that it's not banned by ASADA for use externally.
  5. Fitzy has been backing it up for 3 weeks now. In for GWS to take Clark's role?
  6. Just wondering what your first post was like.
  7. Why not make your comments in any of the various Neeld threads? This is the Jackson thread.
  8. Sellar! We're getting to have half a dozen of these guys. Too good (or just very good) at VFL level, but not able to bring it to the big league. Good to see Toumpas getting his mojo working. Great for his confidence. Magner shoe-in for the Liston, even if he gets promoted mid-year. Another 3-vote game?
  9. When it comes to press conferences after the game, no, you don't take him (or any AFL coach) at his own stock. If you wanted a better insight into what the coaches etc. are really thinking (and doing), log into one of Matt Burgan's Thursday night team selection chats, where the various participants are a lot less circumspect.
  10. Sure, but easier said than done!
  11. Really? 80 odd games is NOT a very long time. Nick Maxwell: 180 games (alongside Harry O'Brien with 160+). Corey Enright 250 games. Those are senior defenders with a bit of experience, Garland hasn't even played 100 games yet.
  12. Nicho is more of a small defender, suspect he's there with Carlton's small forwards in mind.
  13. Savage, but fair. Suspect Rodan has played his last game in the seniors, for us or anyone. Perhaps equally true of Davey. Pedersen will no doubt go back to Casey and remind us why he won a VFL B&F last year, and Blease will pick up 20+ easy possessions. Shame that they can't bring it to the big league on a consistent basis, at least for the moment.
  14. Almost deserves its own thread ...
  15. The post I was responding to talked about picks, not trades. But even then, I don't see it's valid. You're right, of course we'll never know where Barry would have gone on an open market, but rookie ... stretching it I'd say! He was round 2/3 in a number of FD's even before his draft combine results, and if he ever makes it past Casey 2's, hopefully we'll get to see some of that in action! Just hard for me to see the point of the original claim, given that we took something like 8 mids - or players who work through the mids - in this draft/trade period.
  16. First 3 draft picks: Toumpas, Barry, Viney. All mids. Next 3 draft picks: Jones, Kent, Terlich. Mid, mid/forward and rebound HB. Rookies: Clisby and Stark. Mids/rebound HB. 6 out and out mids, 2 rebound HB.
  17. No, just the usual negative Demonland response to an injured player. Got nothing to say? Not a problem just Make Stuff Up. He hasn't even trained this week.
  18. Spoke to the (non FD) staff the other day apparently. High standards expected.
  19. Ooh, I love guessing games ..... Sylvester Stallone?
  20. Injured - I seem to recall reading somewhere. Dunn dominated last week at Casey, and deserves, at least, his chance. Not sure about Blease, still runs hot and cold. Though the hot is very good. Fitness?
  21. I was doing nothing more than responding to a claim that we're bottom 2 for tackling in the league. Which isn't true.
  22. Comment From John Jade, you've seen many coaches in your time, how do you find Mark Neeld as a senior coach? Cheers 6:39 Hi John, he's one of the best coaches I've worked with. He's very, very passionate and very driven and a huge support to his players. That's an absolute fundamental to coaching in my humble opinion. Jade.
  23. B: Lynden Dunn, James Frawley, Dean Terlich HB: Jack Grimes, Tom McDonald, Colin Garland C: Jack Trengove, Jack Viney, Matt Jones HF: Jeremy Howe, Colin Sylvia, Dean Kent F: Rohan Bail, Max Gawn, Shannon Byrnes FOLL: Jake Spencer, Jordie McKenzie, Nathan Jones I/C (from): Sam Blease, James Strauss, Cameron Pedersen, Daniel Nicholson, Michael Evans, Luke Tapscott, Aaron Davey IN: Lynden Dunn, James Strauss, Jake Spencer, Jack Viney, Dean Kent, Daniel Nicholson OUT: Mark Jamar (groin), Jack Watts (hamstring), David Rodan New: Dean Kent (Perth)
  24. Because he may not need 8 weeks. Neeld spoke of 4-6, and the original prognosis was 6-8 or "up to 8 weeks". If he's LTI, the best that we could hope for would be Casey week 9, then back week 10, which blows that out quite a bit.
  25. ... the second time round.
