  1. Exactly right. I restated my view only because you explicitly asked me what my view was, despite me having said it multiple times already. You don't need to tell me what you think again because I don't have a problem comphrending you have a different view, an alternate reality where the supporters of other teams maintain as much interest when the weather's shocking or their team is struggling than they do when their team is flying and there's a great fixture to attend, all because they're so much more passionate than Melbourne's fans. (Just don't let the facts get in the way of your story).
  2. Yes, I think Melbourne supporters are just as passionate as supporters of other sporting teams, including other AFL Clubs. I thought I'd already made my views pretty clear.
  3. If you think I'm the only one who rejects your assertion that Melbourne supporters are less passionate than those of other teams then you're kidding yourself.
  4. Correct; as I've said multiple times now, I don't think we have a problem with our supporters being 'soft'*. I'm quite happy without you in it *Not anymore than most (all?) sporting organisations, anyway.
  5. Supporters buy memberships. Anyway, you suggested we have less passionate supporters than other Clubs, and asserted that attendance dropping off when we struggle was evidence of this. I called you out on the fallacy that this doesn't happen to most (all?) other sporting organisations and maintain your assertion about Melbourne's supporters is wrong.
  6. You're now arguing a different point to the one I responded to. I never suggested that we don't have a smaller supporter base than [some] other teams; this is something we can agree is fact. What I disagreed with was the assertion that we don't have as passionate supporters as other teams do, and that somehow attendances dropping off when the team is struggling is proof of that.
  7. Nothing wrong with the banjo as it was in the 'old' version.
  8. Being a realist about the nature of fan support isn't burying my head in the sand. However, it is a refusal to buy into the fallacy that because attendance figures drop off when the team is struggling it means anything else other than the fact Melbourne's supporters are like the fans of most (all?) other sporting organisations. By the way, in contrary to your negative thesis about Melbourne supporters I'd point to the consecutive years of record-breaking membership figures. PS. It has nothing to do with '47 years'; Essendon won a flag in 2000 and had fans dropping like flies recently because they were struggling.
  9. Big deal. What other sporting organisations don't face the same lack of memberships/attendances when they're struggling? Most, if not all, have a positive correlation between success and supporter interest and we're the same.
  10. Hah. It was bleedingly obvious we were on the decline after 2006.
  11. The more picks you have the more chance you actually pick up the couple of excellent players...
  12. The Albino Warrior and Oucher say hi Judd's Grandmother told me that Warnock is excited at the prospect of being reunited with Bailey.
  13. Same. Not shattered, but I don't like it as much. It's still far better than the suggestion we make a new song. Yuck.
  14. How about having the drive to turn up to preseason training in top condition, the confidence to bounce back after a torrid quarter, or the ability to withstand the pressure of a shot for goal after the siren to win a game? PS. No one's saying footy ability isn't the primary indicator so a reply along those lines doesn't take anything away from the argument that interviews are worth doing.
