  1. When I saw the topic of this thread I thought Watts, but Martin does have some claims on this too. Jamar's injury really has been the making of Martin. I agree that it's down to these two.
  2. Thanks for posting, Rudeboy. Good to hear that there's no serious shoulder injury.
  3. It's just an issue of whether that leaves us too exposed, defensively. I know old55 is a fan of Tapscott in the backline and I can see the merit, but I'm keen to see what he could do as a half-forward/mid.
  4. Haha, not at all. I honestly can't even remember reading a prior post from OMR. I just took the same view as Thomo: From the reaction I get that my post might have been a bit harsh, but that wasn't the intention. Absolutely; it was great. The crowd reaction when he went for a few runs seemed to indicate I wasn't alone.
  5. He has some good qualities. He's hard, has good evasive skills and seems surprisingly good at stoppages. However, there are a few problems that are significant. I've previously said he was slow. I'm now not sure if he is necessarily slow, or whether it's just his terrible tank that makes him slow; after every play involvement he looks like he's just ran 5kms. If it does just come down to being too stuffed to run, at least that's something he might be able to improve. His disposal is also a bit shoddy; particularly by foot.
  6. I reckon the crowd was always going to be a bit subdued, given the opposition. First, you don't have that history/rivalry (and there are virtually no opposition supporters). Second, we should defeat GC. I knew going into the game that if we thumped them I'd be only somewhat happy (we beat them by 15 goals earlier in the season), if we narrowly won I'd be frustrated, and if we lost I'd be really annoyed.
  7. I'm not sure why you quoted my post in particular because I never weighed into this debate about him playing next week, or even alluded to it. However, since you did quote my post, I'll chime in on the issue. I completely disagree with the idea that it would be in the best interests of the Club or player to demote McDonald because of some desire to seem him play at Casey for finals, cohesion with some other blokes there, etc.
  8. I've seen a few other threads about Blease and reckon you could have used them to revisit the topic; I thought it was grandstanding. Your assertion that you were an Oracle prompted it; I wondered whether you perhaps really were an Oracle, so I clicked on your list of posts and looked at the first page of results. Sadly you're not - I was going to ask for the tatts numbers - but it's all tongue-in-cheek so I hope you took it that way. As I said in that very post, I'm no oracle; I gave the McLean example as one I got very wrong. I've commented on this in other threads. In a word, promising. If there were two words, I'd add 'very'.
  9. Gold Coast played into the hands of the huddle, because they generally failed to send out some outriders. It made it too easy. If this is a viable tactic long-term I'll be surprised.
  10. Given his third game will, at the earliest, be about seven months away, there's plenty bit of time. I reckon he's quite big already. Garland isn't exactly a gorilla keeper.
  11. Steady on! If you're going to set yourself up as the Oracle you've got to embrace your other calls too. Let's take a trip down memory lane with Oracle Man Rivers: How about we start with Chris Johnson? OMR '100% agrees' that we have a player with Chris Johnson. http://demonland.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=815&view=findpost&p=9241 OMR disagrees that his comment was too enthusiastic; CJ is going to 'own the wing at the 'G for a decade' http://demonland.com/forums/index.php?/topic/815-chris-johnson-comes-of-age/page__view__findpost__p__9249 How about PJ? Paul Johnson 'could be anything' //did that include being a delist before 25? - Rogue http://demonland.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=818&view=findpost&p=9269 Let's move to Johnstone: TJ 'developed genuine leadership' back in 2006, apparently http://demonland.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=1547&view=findpost&p=18134 Okay, let's take Neitz: 'Not convinced' Neitz should be playing FF in 2006 //Neitz went on to kick 68 goals - Rogue http://demonland.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=921&view=findpost&p=10474 How about some players still on our list? Bartram 'will be important over the next decade' http://demonland.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=1045&view=findpost&p=12319 Bate is a 'star in the making' that 'should remain in the team for the next decade plus' http://demonland.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=1319&view=findpost&p=15125 Dunn to be an 'important cog' by the end of 2008. CAC 'got it right' when he picked up Dunn. http://demonland.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=715&view=findpost&p=8289 The suggestion that Dunn should be dropped was 'garbage' because 'that day wont come for at least a decade'. Why? 'The kid is special'. http://demonland.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=1552&view=findpost&p=18282 Calling Dunn soft is bordering on stupidity http://demonland.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=1930&view=findpost&p=23170 My favourite: Carroll is a 'star' http://demonland.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=1933&view=findpost&p=23180 That said, your hit rate is probably as good as Nostradamus. NB. I've made incorrect calls - I was all sorts of wrong on McLean - but I also don't start up threads boasting that I'm the oracle
  12. None of them are competing with Tom McDonald. Anyway, since I also want to be a genius: Grimes - HBF/mid Bartram - VFL Nicholson - VFL Blease - HBF/mid Tapscott - HFF/mid Strauss* - VFL JMac - VFL Bennell - small defender Warnock - VFL *Plausible that he could make it, but he's not competing with McDonald anyway
  13. I reckon the main knock on Bail is his disposal. More likely to push Bartram out and take a run-with role.
  14. Hah. Adelaide Oval is the new bermuda triangle.
  15. Same sort of argument was used when Watts was the sub versus Gold Coast. It didn't seem to do him any harm.
  16. I disagree. Frawley and Garland can play on mediums/smalls so I don't see that as an impediment.
  17. He looks a good prospect. If we've found a key defender our backline will be very good.
