  1. I agree. I've mentioned it before, but Buckley's defensive efforts etc. weren't great in his initial games this year. However, it was something that was worked on at Sandy, and he seems to be working harder since he's returned to the Dees team.
  2. CJ has better disposal than Buckley. It's no good if you turn it over.
  3. I think Grimes is a real chance to play senior footy this year. Grimes could play another 1-2 games in the Sandy 2's, another 3-4 games in the Sandy 1's, and still play for the Dees. Maric's a chance, too. Although Petterd has debuted, he's been mentioned in this thread, so I'll put my 2 cents in - barring injury, he'll definitely get a gig in the senior side before the year's out. PS. Dappa Dan, I think Martin's played a couple now.
  4. While Ox may think Warnock is coming to the Dees, I heard on MMM that Warnock would be at Richmond. It was while a Freo game was being covered from over in the West - not sure who the commentator was, but might have decent mail, being over there.
  5. Interest -> ratings -> money. What interest would there be in giving 'wog' to some kid who only got 7 touches in his tenth game? Yawn. Far more interesting to give it to Fev when he has a dirty day, creating a talking point etc.
  6. At least he wasn't with you :D
  7. You've nailed it with the last bit. You can 'run and take the game on' for 15-odd steps before you need to bounce it. Many players bounce the ball almost as a habit - I think Pickett enjoyed bouncing the ball every five steps at times.
  8. I was also on level 1. Talking of the Richmond game, I thought there were far less people there that day. The area around me was quite full versus WB, and level 3 on the opposite side of the ground looked like it had a decent number of people. However, I think the reported crowd figures were similar.
  9. It's always like that - they don't drill the kids with the 'worst' votes.
  10. I'm not surprised - he often follows up the ruck work by laying tackles etc. It's the stuff he does (or doesn't do) when the ball's in motion that's the worry. He's improved around the ground, but it's baby steps. Whenever he takes a mark he wants to give it off by hand, regardless of whether he needs to wait an eternity for someone to present a handball receive option. It looks like he lacks footy nous - doesn't want to make a decision. However, perhaps it's partly a confidence issue (that might be linked to shonky skills). I think Jamar's caught the handball compulsion from Miller, who's now recovered and can take a mark, turn around, and wheel on to his right with ease. Barring the Sylvia and Bate rose-coloured glasses part, I agree
  11. The 'G might be a huge stadium that hosts many events, but when you attend games it's still like you're at the footy. Recently someone described TD as a big television studio, which I felt was apt.
  12. It might be worth trying, but he's had very limited opportunities and isn't exactly a spring chicken. We've previously chosen Nathan Brown as a crumbing forward, which suggests Whelan is - or at least, was - way down the list when it comes to a forward role.
  13. We were vastly outnumbered by WB fans, from what I saw.
  14. I read that Frawley played much of his junior footy as a winger, but then had a growth spurt and played KP. However, I'm not sure Frawley's skills are good enough to play primarily as a rebounding defender/winger. I don't mind what his kick looks like, but when we're chipping it around the back half of the ground he has an unfortunate knack of failing to hit targets. PS. It's not like the other guys you mentioned have nailed down a spot in the backline, IMHO. They might do so in future, but it's early days...
  15. His biggest problem was his lack of accountability / workrate. It was something that they worked on at Sandy (according to Lovell's coaches reports), and since he's been back in the Dees side he's been much better. He has pace and a willingness to take risks, which is something we need - it was the reason Ward played as long as he did. Lets hope Buckley's disposal is better than Ward's, though
  16. Fwiw, this has been reported on the forum previously. I believe someone mentioned that he has a golf shop up there or something.
  17. I'd include rucks with mids, too.
  18. We need to continue rookie-ing rucks. I wouldn't be keen on using (m?)any high draft picks on young rucks. He's referring to Jamar, and White's a decent kick.
  19. You don't tell them not to go hard etc You can 'tank' while still asking for 100% effort.
  20. Since Carroll's contracted, that's more than likely. On Demonology, it was reported that he kicked something like 1.6 yesterday, playing forward.
  21. If a Dees fan told me they'd cried after the win versus Carlton, I'd have assumed that they were upset we missed out on draft picks. My thoughts exactly.
  22. I agree - earlier in the thread I said we probably wouldn't get what we think he's worth, given his output and injuries. I was simply replying to a post that intimated a second round pick wouldn't be fair for us
  23. I'd take a second round pick for Sylvia.
