Have a vote for the last remaining four spots, and include seven - four on the 'int' and three on the emergency list. edit: didn't make sense...

I haven't voted

In a recent article I read that he wants to play midfield. However, I see him as a HBF for now.

Interesting one. I agree that Mooney isn't a superstar, but I also don't hear people rate him as one, so I'd find it hard to label him 'most overrated'. Who's your 'most overrated' from Essendon? For the Dees, I'd say Bruce.

I'm not sure how you can gather that from my comment

Obviously - it's like reading the 'news' from a company's PR rep. With that in mind, the news regarding Meesen is still positive, given that Lovell stated it's his best game in a month - regardless of how good his game was this week, that's a relative statement. Likewise, Yze's 17 1%, and 12 tackles, is also good to see. Again, not surprising, particularly against Street. However, the fact that he's shown some improvement is a positive. Regardless, I think it's very likely Yze's performance will nab him a spot on the extended interchange. We don't have too many players knocking down the door. Petterd has plenty of time, and Grimes is still a chance. Grimes could play another couple of games at Sandy 2's, a few at Sandy 1's, and still play for Melbourne. He's done his pre-season, and there's no need to hold him back if his form and fitness end up worthy of a spot.

It makes it tough to select a forward and back six, given the rotations in footy these days. PS. I didn't see this coming Maybe I should start a preferred midfield 6 thread. <_<

Coaches review of MFC-listed players at Sandy Based on that, Yze'll be on the extended interchange. Given Petterd is only playing 80%, I can't see him getting up for this week. Good to see Messen played a decent game.

Yep.

"Gee, I wish I had thought of that! "

If he's going to be around next year - and he's contracted, so I imagine he will be - it'd be handy if he could play both ends, a la Holland. If we get another few injuries, perhaps he's a chance of playing up there. Atm I can't see a future for him, though. I'd be very surprised if he continued for another couple of years. It'll be interesting to see if he goes around again next year, but I'm leaning towards no.

I imagine it's simply an accurate reflection of the market. Even our poorly attended matches get more than double that ground's capacity.

It doesn't take a large amount of dosh to send players into the schools, donate MFC stuff to the raffle at the local school fetes, and run clinics etc, on a regular basis. These are the things that are going to connect with kids, and it's a matter of making the effort, rather than splashing the cash.

He was there last week, and I imagine he played alright at Sandy again, given that he had seven shots on goal. Feel free to offer alternatives.

I agree. Given the usual method DB's used this year, I'd be very surprised to see Daniel Bell dropped this week. I'm leaning towards just the one change (Davey for Green), and Petterd may need to wait a week. Petterd number 1 emergency, Carroll and someone else on the extended bench until Friday. PS. Assuming McDonald isn't fit.

Not your finest work, bb.

Surely we'll go into next season in worse shape than more than half of the other teams... We're likely to lose even more experience, with our best 22 including even more young and inexperienced players. While that may be great for the future, it's going to make for an inconsistent team. I voted 30%.

I think it was about two weeks ago, when the Essendon v Freo match was on. Doesn't mean much anyway - as you say, there's plenty of water to go under the bridge. However, I just thought I'd put it out there.

- QB v Collingwood - Two home games in Canberra - All other home games at the 'G - Spread of days/times
-
He might have, but that's still not most. I recall the same, and of those that had soft-tissue injuries, most had form in that regard. I think one that didn't was Green, who sustained a hamstring injury after being forced to stay on the field in a match where we didn't have enough fit men to provide rotations.

Ash30 doesn't think Reimers will become a gun. However, Ash30 obviously hopes that that Reimers proves Ash30 wrong. I don't see the double standard. I'm not sure if you meant something else.

Salient Demons-related points and some opinions/commentary: - 13th on overall tally, 29,619 total members (5.5% up on 2007's 28,077 members) Closest teams are WB (~1500 behind), while we're not far off St. Kilda, and ~1200 off Richmond. - 7th best membership increase (as % of past year, ( and number of members) Given last year was a record, and our terrible form 2007-08, that's pretty good. - Ninth on adult tally (21,925 members) Might suggest that our money from membership takings is likely to be better than you'd expect from our 13th ranking overall, although we do sell $40 MCC/MFC memberships. However, the flip-side to a high % of adult members... - 13th junior tally (5,541), 16th concession* tally (2,153) This is a worry, as others have mentioned. However, our number of junior members as a % of our overall membership tally is comparable to several other Victorian teams (ie. Magpies, Cats, Saints), and comparable to or better than all interstate Clubs (although that's probably a moot point; they're not going anywhere). I wonder if juniors are a more 'fickle' membership category, as 'why you little' suggests. As for other teams: I'm surprised by the massive increase in Bombers membership! It doesn't seem that the loss of Sheedy has hurt things. I'm sure Essendon's pre-season form was a factor. The Kangaroos have had a massive increase in members overall, but still have less adult members than us. I'm really interested to see how things pan out with North membership numbers over the next 2-3 years. Perhaps they've engaged with a huge legion of Roos-supporting juniors/students, but perhaps it's because junior memberships are cheaper to pick up as a form of donation. * Full-time student, Aged, Single Parent or Disability Pension Card, Veteran Affairs Card, TPI We do have the MFC/MCC associate membership at $40, remember. I wouldn't be surprised if that netted us a couple of thousand adults.
