  1. Shows how serious the footy dept are about Jordie McKenzie being in their future plans, when they upgrade his number to the early teens in spite of him still being on the rookie list. Wonder how many times that has happened.
  2. Yeah, I would. It's only cocaine. Alcohol is just as destructive, but it happens to be legal. Morally I have no problem with it. Intelligence-wise he should be roundly condemned.
  3. I hear ya. Much more widespread than some would like to believe.
  4. M. Lobbe for Port is a ruck/fwd. I think he'll get a bit of game time this year and Cloke is a rookie at the moment anyway. Cheap too.
  5. I hope you're right there - CC didn't mention Jurrah once!
  6. I think you're right - players these days are less defined by the area they occupy on the field; moreso by the role that they play for the team.
  7. I thought I remembered hearing Grimes was going to be used in a midfield tagging role this year..? I think this would be most prudent for his development, even if its not full-time.
  8. Martin will be good, but I wonder about him psychologically. Its not based on anything factual, just a feeling I get. I'd have gone for Scully and Trengove every single time. Post won't be ready yet, I don't think. Maybe 2011.
  9. The yoyo test that the club obviously does is a better representation of match fitness and ability to get to contests, due to its process of: Run 20m, Run 20m again, Rest ~5m (jog/walk), Repeat. In terms of Judd still being elite if he had an ordinary beep or yoyo test... I dispute that. If he had the ability to sprint over a short distance time and again in a match (which he does), then why wouldn't he be able to do it in a test the tries to mimic a match? If he could not sustain that effort in a yoyo or beep test, then he won't be able to do it on the field, and if Judd was only good for a couple of sprints per game, he wouldn't be the player he is.
  10. Mind you, Andrew Mackie is 192cm and 87kg; Joel Corey is 191cm and 89kg. 5kg could be enough, but I think Morton could stand to add 10kg and not lose any of his effectiveness.
  11. Morton is listed at 83kg. He could easily add another 10kg at his height and not lose any of his mobility, conditional on it being done gradually over time. Barry Hall is 194cm (2cm taller) but weighs 104kg. He might not run the same distances, but I'd still rate him as having excellent mobility.
  12. My Richmond supporter mate says Martin has been beating Deledio consistently in one-on-one drills at training. A good sign.
  13. Wona had slimmed down significantly and was a lot leaner when he first had the hamstring injury. If anything, he is less lean now than he was when he first did it. Try again.
  14. Fair enough. I'd expect him to be smart enough to purposely remain ignorant of the expectations of the public.
  15. Why feel for him? He's not ready and people are saying only that. Timely reality check for the supporters, if anything. He'll come good in time, but it will take just that. Relax... & I love the trademark acid tongue, rpfc. I'll just have to remember not to say anything stupid in future...
  16. At the end of the season Jetta actually impressed me more than Bennell, which was a shock. Nearly every single time he takes a mark he wheels around, spots a target and hits it before the opposition defenders can react. A massively underrated ability.
  17. I'm happy to hear this - I still don't think he looks ready for AFL and I think the mind aspect is more salient than the physical. I think a game or 2 here and there might help his feel for the AFL game, but not playing week in week out. It's like Scott West said 2 weeks ago when talking about the young draftees: If the players aren't ready to perform a role for the team, then playing is not helping their development. I don't think Watts is near this stage yet.
  18. they'd still need a better pick, although come that time I'd be surprised if they don't.
  19. Once again, you just assume the club has done nothing. Paraphrasing one of your other posts - you are not a doctor. So leave it to the experts. We don't have an abnormally large injury list, so just accept that injuries will happen and move on.
  20. You're either a gullible and excitable young chap, or you don't pay enough attention to what you write in your own posts. Retroactively twisting your words, to make it sound like you knew what you were on about, just won't cut it. Try again.
  21. Jay's getting a bit old now... I'd rather get Jack along.
  22. Show me ONE team that has ever gone through a preseason without an injury. Unrealistic expectations.
  23. Do you mean 'Muphry's Law'..? That would be closer. Either way, they're both wrong! But I understand what you mean.
  24. ??? Spencer lost 11kg due to illness and looks frail to me. The photo of Tapscott & Gawn is my favourite - Tapscott looks like a 3rd year player and Gawn looks like an awkward 16 year old ball kid. Such a contrast.
  25. Not at all, I said you think you are correct. You are not. I'll happily have the club pick fit players. Injuries occur, it is a fact of football at any level. I don't see any reason for concern yet, but Im also sure the club undergoes a thorough review of every injury and try to pinpoint the cause and subsequent prevention. Jeez, those Geelong fans must be livid - Egan was an AA CHB and their medical dept is so inept that he had to hang up the boots... see how stupid that sounds? Cox and Kerr missed most of last season with injury - aren't WCE the richest club in terms of resources..? Their fans must be livid! Unbelievable...
