  1. haha I doubt you'd extend that courtesy to TIG either...
  2. We'll get compensation too. And... even though it was ridiculed when it was floated a few weeks ago, the idea that clubs would inflate B&F performances to get better compensation has now been raised in the Hun (don't have the link right now).
  3. How to create a decent rivalry... STEP 1: find a relevant opponent. STEP 2: find a way to insult them and/or incite anger with misrepresentations of the truth. STEP 3: do your best to be competitive against them and then go back to STEP 2 and repeat.
  4. Not familiar with what you're referring to, but it stands that it is a weak unsophisticated idea. If the club went ahead with that I'd donate $50K. Nothing necessarily wrong with that, it just needs work and refinement.
  5. Like the majority of themed rounds there isn't much substance to it.
  6. No offence, but cards? A deck of MFC-themed playing cards will sell more memberships..? Edit: I'm not sure if I'm missing something, but are the matches against Queensland teams just convenient because they are loosely associated with the word "Queen" and that is what this membership is based around? I don't necessarily have much better to offer myself, but I think the club needs better ideas than this.
  7. We should have been, but I think the obstacle is Richmond and North. From memory they have manufactured some false hype match that revolves around the working-class or something. It's something they want to promote and the AFL have complied. I think we would play Geelong in some sort of heritage round anyway.
  8. Potentially high praise, depending on who it was from.
  9. Scott is trying to incite a rivalry between the 2 clubs and he has admitted as much. He can see we will be a successful team in the future and is trying to hitch his club to our star to gain some relevance. It might sound arrogant, but that's how I see it. They have quite a few good young players, but I still don't see them doing much more than being middle of the road for the next 5 years.
  10. I think it also reflects how happy the club is with our defense as opposed to our attack. Our back 6 has looked airtight the last 4 matches. Our attack has managed to kick a lot more goals than I envisaged, but Sylvia was a very handy addition. I admit Rivers could play up forward, but it'd be a foreign position for him and I'm not sure how successful I think he'd be in that role.
  11. Not sure about the feasibility of it though... I don't know how it'd all work, but it depends on how much the club had to pay. Personally I'd never use the option of a game at Etihad. I have no desire to go to that stadium. Not sure how many others there are like me, but I'd hate for the club to fork over money to reserve a seat for me that I'll never use.
  12. I think that's key. I don't want to stick the boot into Dunn, but his best isn't up to the quality of what those 2 have produced on average.
  13. It'd be great if we could think of a decent carrot though...
  14. I'm pretty sure they are from years when premiership cups weren't awarded but they have since been made up. Schwab earlier mentioned them "arriving" but were still in the boxes, so I can only assume the twitter army were hassling him for a photo. Don't quote me on all that though.
  15. haha I did, and only because I figured we'd draw a mention this week. I still walked away disgusted at myself for doing so. Amazing they still found a way to stick the boot into the club though! Next time I see that clown Robinson about I'll give him a serve.
  16. The training ground is already known as Gosch's Paddock. Not sure of the exact move in date, but I'm sure the club will let us know as it gets closer. I do recall either reading or hearing about an opening party for all the tenants. Can't remember when. I'll do a bit of digging.
  17. That article is in the Herald Sun, but yes... well.. almost. They seem to infer that he is a target but that he won't go. Pretty much exactly what Quartermain said on One Week At A Time. I'm not worried. Chippa is a very valuable player and I'm sure the club will do what they need to to keep him. The fact he is winning games with his mates right now must help. The thought of going back in time 2 or 3 years must be hard, which is essentially what you'd be doing at GC17 imho.
  18. E25, sorry mate, I think you're all lost at sea on this one...
  19. Absolutely love Beama's work at the moment. I've had the (mis)fortune of wrestling with Beama when we were both drunk one night. He is a very strong man. Put me to shame. When he tackles someone I can guarantee it hurts for a week. edit: In the offseason, I might add.
  20. They breed them tough down in Terang.
  21. I find it hard to believe people think we erred when playing Watts in the QB match and that it was a publicity stunt. I think those people would be the same fools who called for Bailey's head earlier this year and thought we'd finish 2010 with a priority pick after the hawthorn match. There's no accounting for intelligence.
  22. no... It'll probably mean he is our only fit ruckman.
  23. is this really a thread? edit: it's a bad post that belongs in a long list of Jack Watts threads.
