  1. ...I think we should trade pick 14 for Cameron Wood. He will be a critical part of our next premiership tilt because Lauren Jackson- I mean, Josh Fraser can't carry the ruck for us... Wow! What happened??! I blacked out for a second there...
  2. I think you're right - he is picking and choosing his spots much better instead of trying to take on the whole world. He broke a few tackles in the Richmond game, but they were ones you could tell he could break. He wasn't trying to do it against the odds. Whether that was pure coincidence of that match or a conscious effort remains to be seen.
  3. What are you on about this time?
  4. My father has been telling me for years how adept we were at this - about time the skill came in handy! But I do tend to agree. No game in recent memory has shaped our fortunes as much as that one, bar the Kreuzer Cup in 2007. Losing that game would've had an even more profound effect. Imagine squeezing NicNat onto this list at the expense of Strauss.....
  5. Most important game since 2006? Wasn't that the NAB Cup match against Freo??
  6. I think Jones is a good matchup for Rich. Dunn on Travis works for me. Bruce on Black. Garland running with Brenna. Chip on Brown. Warnock on Fev. I think worrying over these matchups is counter-productive though - if we're any chance of winning we need the ball to be in our hands and be dictating terms. In short, I'm hoping for an honourable loss.
  7. Sheeds job right now is as a spruiker. He's meant to say sensational stuff and get his name and GWS in the headlines and minds of all in NSW and the country. Every now & then he'll go too far and say something way too ridiculous but so far he's filling his job description. Those misses are becoming more commonplace though.
  8. I think, even if he does come in soon, he will have earned his spot. They simply won't give him a game until he is ready and i think the two will go hand-in-hand.
  9. Exactly. They have been embarrassed each week, only this week a little bit more. But E25 has a point that they will come out with a bit of fire before fading... This is a very important game for us development-wise. Maintaining the right attitude is paramount.
  10. I think he performed his role satisfactorily.
  11. Agreed. A defining moment was when he saw he had Maric on his tail and instead of panicking he put on the afterburners and hit up Green, leading to Junior's goal. He'll be ok, this kid. Belief is the biggest thing.
  12. Miller's form at this level is worrying.
  13. Let us know if you have any trouble getting in. I may have a spare ticket for the MCC. Won't know until a few days beforehand though, I'm afraid.
  14. Not at all. I don't think any of the players would be foolish enough to read this forum and I doubt it is a consideration for him. Inside he knows he let himself and the club down in those moments and what matters is that he hardens up and doesn't let it happen again.
  15. 1) So you want to say it without saying it? Leave doubt in the kid's mind as to where he stands? A lack of communication leads to nothing good. 2) Alternatively you can tell him he has been dropped for a soft effort so that he dwells on it for weeks until he gets back into the side to redeem himself? This is not how you build confidence and BELIEF. 3) Or failing that, you can drop him and specifically tell him that it is NOT because of him hearing footsteps. Then the kid is still down, questions and doubts himself and whether the football dept is being honest with him. 4) The answer is to maintain faith in him that he will redeem himself and give him the soonest chance possible to show that. If it becomes a worrying trend, then maybe you take a different tact. No good can come from the other options. Such a simple concept, but so hard for some to understand...
  16. Agree on most counts (not sure of who holds the tally). Some would be a disruptive presence. Give it to a kid old enough to understand the privilege it is. Most distant member is also a good one.
  17. It occurred to me that Bruce is actually following the coaches' directions exactly, but his teammates aren't and that is why his possessions go awry. BRuce has been criticized for going sideways, but following the match Bailey has stated that after half-time we consciously made an effort to be less "corridor-centric" and go wider. Bruce did this to a tee, but in doing so, disrupted what the rest of his teammates were trying to do on a few occasions.
