I'm not so sure NicNat can go through a whole season without people picking up on his inconsistency.
If he's not winning games off his own boot every few games I think the hype will wane.
If he is then I think he'll deserve the Rising Star award.
CC has trotted this line out a few times at different events.
It's a bit of an in-joke about him and his family hunting geese and then eating too many of them.
I know a lot of people in Sydney who have sh&% eating grins on their faces right now, revelling in schadenfreude.
I have a feeling that soon they will realise the rot has spread through the whole league and their own teams will be under the microscope.
Stay tuned.
You didn't.
But I wouldn't bring him onto the list because I would consider playing him.
We have kids that will soon be better than him and he is on the downward slide.
I don't think in the long run he would help the club, so what's the point?
Certainly.
In terms of list composition we'd find we had too many ruckmen (already an issue) and still no one to play KPF.
Capable ruckmen are much harder to find that a player like Watts.
I agree, Trengove is a much better footballer.
The only reason I said NicNat is that he is a walking talking advantage for your side.
He gets the ball forward and to advantage and you can always find other players to make up for his lack of class and make use of that advantage.
In any case, Watts will also be one of those players that are exceptionally rare.
Definitely.
Roo was a bloody tall wingman, then one preseason he got on the weights and came back looking like the hulk.
I remember that being a headline "HULK".
In his 2nd season... and you are overstating how many brownlow votes he'll get.
I think his skills are far from elite and will stay that way.
If I had a draft pick and it was between those 2...
I'd choose NicNat.
His athleticism is incredibly rare and I'd back our other skilful players around him to mop up and make up for his lack of class and nous.
But this is purely a hypothetical.
I'm happy with our team as it is.
One other question I'm interested in though - would people trade Trengove straight up for Naitanui?
It's irrelevant whether I think it ended up with us getting one and not the other.
NAITANUI or TRENGOVE?
Just interested in people's opinions...
I don't think you'll see any change in strategy.
We'll stick to developing our own and bringing in suitable talent if it's on offer.
Taking the different tact, I think, leads a club to what we experienced in 2006/2007 onwards.
