It’s well worthwhile listening to the whole interview with Jason Taylor. He won’t be giving anything away so you have to read between the lines. It was interesting that when Kemp was mentioned, it appeared to me that he was unconvinced about him..

Poll: Who do you want with our first two picks?
Deefender replied to furious d's topic in Melbourne Demons
Melbourne would benefit most from the speed and polish of Dylan Stephens and secondly from Weightman who has the attributes of a Brent Harvey. Importantly, Stephens is senior football hardened and would shine from Round 1. -
Lockhart would be valuable near goal, for sure. I wonder if he could eventually replace Neville Jetta.

Casey Demons v Box Hill Hawks - Round 13
Deefender replied to KC from Casey's topic in Melbourne Demons
The new coach Radford now has two wins under his belt. This is a great start. Whoever engineered the coaching changes mid season has done well. -
Good practice for September

Oscar will be a big man and big men need time to mature. He will hits his straps in a year or two and will be a seriously formidable player. Patience my friends.
-
Joe. Bull Smith - good to hear. Lockart - tiger with class.
-
Well put. During the game I thought he needs to watch the raw power of Gary Ablett senior. Take the game by the throat. Kick goals.
-
Big Max goes from strength to strength. He has authority and leadership. He would make an excellent captain.
-
The backline would not want to be judged by the same standards as applied to Oscar McDonald.

The indigenous guernsey is a winning design.

Goal kicking - is it the yips or something deeper
Deefender replied to Pates's topic in Melbourne Demons
Too many players kick the ball with no purpose. They don’t run through; it’s often just a few steps and lollipop lobbed in the general direction. Amateurish and pathetic. -
We should give Bull Smith a run at centre half forward.

Omac and Frost: Premiership Kryptonite
Deefender replied to At the break of Gawn's topic in Melbourne Demons
I have complete faith in Oscar McDonald. Big men take longer to reach their potential. He’s only just turned 23. Repeat, 23. Fair go. In a couple of years he will be indispensable. Mark my words. -
Thanks for this amusing anecdote Saty. Toby is lucky to be learning from a master. From his first game, it was obvious that if you got tackled by Nev, you stayed tackled .. and it may well hurt.

tiers. ‘As weagles showed this year, two ruckmen are better than one if used intelligently. Highlights of Preuss show a big, strong, mobile, marking ruckman who can score goals. Imagine Maxie patrolling the backline and Preuss frightening the opposition in the forward line. If this can be pulled off it could be the master stroke of the decade.’ Reminds me of those glory days when Strawbs O’Dwyer and the great Jimmy Stynes owned the MCG.

The Wizard. Sometimes he stood on the shoulders of giants.
-
Call their bluff. If you don’t have single digit picks, then we’ll take Cerra and Brayshaw ... and maybe we’ll throw in a second round bone.
-
You can build a team around a young man like Jesse Hogan. Cerra and Brayshaw might be excellent players but you won’t build a team around them. Freo has to pay up big.
-
I remember Sean White playing full back. Hell, he was very good and just the sort of man to nullify the best like Gary Ablett Snr.

1964 memories- calling our older supporters
Deefender replied to Cassiew's topic in Melbourne Demons
In 1964 all radio was from a power point. There were no transistor radios. I listened to the grand final as a twelve year old on the family radiogram. I was there for ‘87 and at Waverley too. The Dees have unfinished business. Momentum and belief are powerful forces when combined. Step aside. We’re on our way. -
Too right. The MCG - our ground.
-
They were missing a couple of players. Add Jack Viney to the mix this time.

Last chance for Kennedy-Harris?
Deefender replied to spirit of norm smith's topic in Melbourne Demons
The Dees have good depth in their team now. Consider: When Essendon was a power Gary O’Donnell played 50 reserves games before he made his debut. And then he went on to captain them. JFK has plenty of time. Melbourne is a good side and a hard side to break into. -
He’ll be fine Sam. Tom McDonald hit his straps around age 24. Expect the same from Oscar and Sam.
