  1. The new Melbourne should look forward to the challenges on the road. We are good enough.
  2. The back page of the Age has a good photograph of Oliver embracing Fritsche. One of our sponsors Beyond Bank is getting great exposure. Sponsors will be lining up next year.
  3. Good to see that Bradtke is making steady progress.
  4. No special comments needed, though Richie is sensible. Most of the time 7 is muted.
  5. Trade at the end of the year while he has good ‘potential’.
  6. Good comments SWYL. It’s illustrative that you use the word ‘boot’. Boots, in my opinion would give more protection especially to the ankle. AFL players wear sprinting footwear. My guess is that their pace is not improved markedly.
  7. Gary O’Donnell, who went on to captain Essendon, played 50 reserve games before playing seniors in a strong side. Bedford has plenty of time to develop his game. I think he can make it at AFL level.
  8. The AFL elitists are concealed behind safety glass and well out of earshot from the annoying plebs and the noise pollution used to silence them.
  9. Years ago (2012) I went to the season opening game against Brisbane. The noise levels were unbearable and exactly as you describe Red. I never returned to the MCG. They lost me altogether. We are governed by barbarians.
  10. Preuss is coming into his prime, just turned 25. And can play. He’s an asset for us. We might see more of him:
  11. They should give Tom McDonald a run on the wing. He’d be better than both Langdon and Tomlinson. He might run into form maybe even kick a goal.
  12. Oscar is going to surprise many on this list who lost faith in him. He will be a powerful player when he fully develops. He’s not in his prime yet. I hope to hell that we can hold onto him.
  13. They never ask this question.about management. Chop chop.
  14. It would suit the AFL and their telecast if Melbourne was to bid on Green (and I hope they do.) Jackson is no certainty at pick 3.
  15. Noah Anderson would be a very handy pick in that case.
  16. Jackson is raw but sure has mobility and talent. The great Jimmy Stynes started from scratch.
  17. Green is the goods, easy # 3.
  18. You haven’t heard any mention of Stephens from the Club? Good. I hope Jason Taylor is playing a strategic game, keeping his cards close to his chest.
  19. Stephens will hit the ground running. I’d take him at 3.
  20. It’s well worthwhile listening to the whole interview with Jason Taylor. He won’t be giving anything away so you have to read between the lines. It was interesting that when Kemp was mentioned, it appeared to me that he was unconvinced about him..
  21. Melbourne would benefit most from the speed and polish of Dylan Stephens and secondly from Weightman who has the attributes of a Brent Harvey. Importantly, Stephens is senior football hardened and would shine from Round 1.
  22. Lockhart would be valuable near goal, for sure. I wonder if he could eventually replace Neville Jetta.
  23. The new coach Radford now has two wins under his belt. This is a great start. Whoever engineered the coaching changes mid season has done well.
  24. Good practice for September
  25. Oscar will be a big man and big men need time to mature. He will hits his straps in a year or two and will be a seriously formidable player. Patience my friends.
