  1. how is it flawed? If we play like we did last saturday, in the next 7 weeks; we will beat: North, Richmond, Eagles at Home probably: Lions at Home, the Crows at home, Port at Darwin(!) no chance: Dogs 4-6 wins after 9 rounds, maybe in the 8, IF IF IF IF IF they keep it up
  2. that's almost as funny as when Thomo said it 31 hours ago
  3. I don't understand you people, why don't you just go to the pub? That's what i did for non-vic games before I had fox, wasn't an issue at all At home would be better, but sometimes it's good at the pub because there is a bit of a crew there of fellow supporters, can be a really good atmosphere
  4. That's what I said earlier in the thread too Tony Shaw (clown that he is) said last night that performance should be the benchmark of our minimum effort from now on. I am sure Dean and the others are trying their best to drum that into the players. What I'm saying is that IF they are able to pull that off and continue coming out and playing like that every week we will beat a whole heap of sides... top4 isn't on the cards but top8 is "If we don't back it up this week, then it counts for nothing. The effort last week was good, but it doesn't count for anything if we don't back it up this week." "If we can have our second-tier players stepping up and playing like they did each week, we're going to win more games than we lose." Brent Moloney during the week Now that we have proven something it is time for people to get a little fired up and stop acting like we are the losers of the comp still, we are not
  5. terrible show, they talk about footy for about 5 minutes and the rest of the time is supposed 'humour' straight out of primary school. Last week we were treated to Jonathan Brown doing Karaoke.
  6. at what remedial institution did you learn logic
  7. Hang on a minute, if you accept the likes of Sculgove and McKenzie are best 22 then why doesn't Watts get the same treatment.. maybe he will never dominate at Casey, some blokes are at their best in the big leagues with quality all around them, Jurrah for one I didn't think was all that special when I saw him in the VFL several times, but when he got a senior berth he never looked back. The same could be said for Grimes. I think Watts if 100% fit will be slotting into the 22 even if he doesn't do much at Casey to earn it. His education will come from playing AFL. MacDonald Warnock Rivers Bruce Frawley Davey Morton Moloney Grimes Green Bate Garland Jurrah Petterd Watts Jamar Sylvia Scully Trengove McKenzie Jones McDonald Wonaeamirri Bennell Miller Strauss Bell PJ Spencer McNamara Meesen Martin Newton Dunn Bartram Bail Cheney Jetta Maric Blease Gysberts Tapscott Gawn Fitzpatrick Healey Hughes Now tell me who, in that long list of outs would you rather see in the 22 ahead of a fit Watts? I know I have named only one ruck so maybe that's it, but not necessarily
  8. I would like to see both Bate and Jones go to Casey to dominate for a week or two... get some momentum and confidence back up
  9. can you believe it Jackson Trengove in the guts strauss is stiff! Garland straight in... seems a bit odd looks to me like Jones and Bate might be getting a spell bennell named on-field to confirm he will not be dropped for THAT incident
  10. Rhys Palmer won it when Freo were very shizen
  11. maybe you will notice nobody had predicted anything, merely asked a question and instead of rational responses all they've got is lame 'jokes' if we play every match of the remaining season like we did last saturday (unlikely I know) how many wins would you pencil in, bearing in mind the selected 22 should get stronger as blokes come back from injury? We would probably have beaten ten sides at least last Saturday, all the interstate ones for a start, well maybe not Freo(!) plus Richmond and North my preferred line of thinking is that now we have shown what we can do - over 4 quarters against good opposition - I want to see that out there every week instead of accepting they might turn up and fall to bits on any given day.
  12. bottom line is we needed a forward badly and there was also the go-home factor. Everyone knew we would/should take the safer bet over the ruckman with huge question marks over his game. Whether it owrks out or not you can't fault the decision at the time, same goes for sculgove and Morton, there were no surprises on draft night for these very high picks
  13. I agree with the thrust of what you are saying but I don't think he can be excused for that passage. He was under no pressure, there is no excuse for a handball like that, it robbed Bate of the half a second he needed and then in turn his handball was too high, I think it was actually Strauss the recipient, he was also robbed of the time/space as he had to jump to 'mark' this handball and because they closed in on him he panicked, looked sideways and spilt the 'mark'. Bruce's handball should have been a bullet Bate whose in turn would have been bulleted to Strauss, who should have had a clear second or two to send us into attack. So his handball was just a tiny bit off, but in domino effect style it cost us badly.. this is the game we are trying to play, several quick handballs until a player is in space but he ruined it with that daisy-cutter handball and it not only cost us a forward entry but a goal the other way. It is one thing for the kids to make these skill errors but you don't expect it from your 2nd most experienced player
  14. unless you disagree with either of those statements I don't understand your gripe with this thread
  15. meh if you don't consider that a MORAL victory you are in la la land for one thing we were blatently robbed and another we missing a heap of players. We are about 3 years behind the pies who are flag contenders fact is if we KNEW they were going to play like that every week you could jot us down for about 13 wins or even more everyone is just assuming we will drop in and out of form, which is probably likely but necessarily a fact!
  16. correct, he would be one of the first few picked every week, he would have to play about 5 nightmares in a row to get dropped and even then they'd be hesitant because a)he is likely to do whatever job they need him to do including shutting down a dangerous player b)he is one of the precious few with a mature, experienced head out there and they just need him there for the kids.. especially if things go pear-shaped will be very interesting to see if JB gets dropped. Either way I can understand the call, I think they will leave him in though. Sylvia please be fit and come in for a BOG 2010 debut
  17. yeah what a lame effort from us.. losing by a point with 7 out injured
  18. I'm sure those of you disrespectfully mocking the idea also expected us to lose by 80 points last week. Didn't work out that way though did it
  19. if we knew we could play like that every week, and we also had our host of injured players back on the park.. it might be possible. However in reality we will probably be up-and-down all year and come away with about 8 wins for mine
  20. sorry I thought this was football discussion site for the discussion of football related issues
  21. this game used to be tough if Moloney did that you'd all be worshipping him
  22. what we haven't forgotten is the performances of the respective sides last weekend, bit more relevant wouldn't you say
  23. well since people take what they see on footy classified and make a thread out of it, i'll just take what I saw on footy classified, Lyon's comments, and respond: you are not telling the club anything they don't already know when you say it is a disgrace etc they are working on the problem. End of story.
  24. unfortunately one of those defensive 50 clearances was a handball to Leon Davis which cost us the game
  25. Watts up your butt? there, haven't heard that one before have ya
