  1. seriously, the way they have ruined the rules, what Viney should have done is exactly what he did with one minor alteration, dont actually take control of the ball, but let it bounce of your palms instead.. run bend down and scoop just as he did, but 'accidentally' don't take possession and get tackled - there was such a fraction of a second between when he touches the ball to when the opposition gets him that there is no way he would appreciate that clean possession hasn't been taken and he would lay the tackle and TWEET 'holding the man'. I know that type of rule-fiddling is deplorable but that is what they have reduced us to. They no longer protect the man with the ball so don't be the man with the ball and you have a better chance i bet that's what were gonna start seeing now, players taking a couple of short steps and/or deliberately fumbling to make sure they are second to the contest and/or not in possession because that's the advanatageous position to be in now
  2. vince should be 4th though on that list, he has been comfortably better than Viney
  3. disagree, he is side-by-side at best, a long way off the ball, he would probably have just ended up being clearly 3rd to the contest if he had tried a block.. yes he was 3rd anyway but he made the decision to keep it a dead heat for all 3 players, in which we would outnumber 2-1, which was the right call. Unfortunately it was a spectacular tackle, otherwise it would have worked out for us as Grimes would have ran off with the ball that spilt from the tackle.. and it should have been ball up anyway
  4. you're talking carp - i just looked at it and there was nothing Grimes could have done there, you must be high, Grimes was the third one to the contest and he himself was the one that copped a slight block, it was physically impossible for him to block for JV I suggest you look at it again. . Of course the free kick was an EFFING JOKE JV seriously had possession for about half a second no exaggeration, of course it was then kicked forward for another goal we were robbed of.
  5. oh and you hadn't seen this thread at that stage? man if some [censored] is down at HQ saying this to folks on the phone he needs to be slapped back in line
  6. it really does seem like there is this mystery/luck element to the contest now - we are supposed to be watching two teams compete, not two teams competing with this third element being so significant on the outcome no other sport has anywhere near this amount of conjecture we were the better team and we should have all been celebrating a watershed victory on Sunday afternoon and we were blatantly robbed of it those type of victories are very important to a club like us who is so perpetually down on its luck the injustice is overwhelming it's frustrating
  7. yep tommy mac, howe and jones I believe set it up right from the last line, genuine quality team footy.. then bang straight out of the middle again
  8. that is such an annoying post the person you have responded to has pointed out some good REASONS WHY Rawlings MIGHT be the successor you just dismiss with out even an attempt at explanation - tell us what you know personally about JR's coaching abilities please
  9. I was hoping this would be an appeal for a rule that any poster who mentions Watts vs NikNat Tyson vs Kelly or Toumpas vs Wines should not only be banned, but shot.
  10. Let's say that at the end of 2016 we've just bowed out of an elimination or semi final (I honestly believe this is a good chance BTW) after coming from the depths that we've come from, how could anybody possibly just walk away without trying to finish the job.. it's unfathomable really

  12. I know what you are talking about and yes he threw it but he had zero prior opportunity - there was an identical one that Dawes DIDN'T get away with, he got tackled within one second of taking possession, he would have had a better chance of getting a 'ball up' call from the umpire if he just absorbed the tackle and went to ground, but he did what we have all been taught you are supposed to do which was attempt to dispose of it but he didn't get his boot to it. Yes - it was illegal disposal but it's the type of thing 5 or 10 years ago a player would not have attempted to dispose in that situation because he would know there is no danger of being called for holding it because there was no prior. So infuriating. if I was out there in that situation I would deliberately fumble gathering the ball and take a free kick for getting tackled without the ball, it's the only thing you can do now in a situation where you beat your opponent to the ball by one second
  13. of all the rubbish that pollutes the modern game, the instant free kick for being tackled with no prior opportunity just might the number one most infuriating. We copped at least 6 or 7 of these on Sunday
  14. you have the respectful disagreement of every person on this site that has a pair of eyes. FMD.
  15. oh come on, they are a game away from top of the ladder and had the HG advantage
  16. 21 years old with 29 games experience, very nice to think how good he will be in about 5 years!
