He struggled early but was incredible as the season went on. Windsor had a good year too. The point Ralph is making is it’s ok to abandon the Houston move and know we’ll be a strong chance to get a good player at 5, or by the time it is used likely 6. I don’t believe they would’ve just floated Oliver out there without considering it might actually happen. Not saying it was entirely their plan or the best way to do it but I’m not sure there was a good way if they’ve decided it was time to do it.

Teague train was forwards coach with Adelaide in 2017 when they were absolutely rolling. A few things go their way in the grand final and he’s seen as a genius part of a great forward line. Things weren’t sustainable at Carlton, they couldn’t defend but the list wasn’t much chop either. He went in to Richmond to work with Dimma who bailed on him. 3 of those people have jobs and the other is getting paid a fortune by the eagles not to coach. Teague is exactly who we should hire if we’re looking to play uptempo attacking footy. Chaplin and Bassett can get the defensive game plan right.

Let’s be honest, Clarry’s mind, body, club and team mates were all happy with how he was going for the first 7 years of his career. Eventually that hit a tipping point. Clubs really hadn’t. If we were spending vast resources on NGA they’d be employees, training sessions, sponsorships, frequent social content. There’s nothing to say it’s more than a training session a week and the occasional special squad game. They’re a nice idea to foster talent from different backgrounds but in terms of gaining draft assistance it’s a rort, it always was.
