PRESEASON TRAINING: Friday 6th December 2024
More importantly, has he been warned of the incoming picket next week?

The Roy George Thread
I'm not getting too far ahead of myself with regards to having him on the list. The 'paperwork' referred to may just be insurance paperwork to allow him to participate in training.

Forward line fix?

You're telling me that drafting is not an exact science? I am SHOCKED. Edit: Can you IMAGINE the shemozzle we'd have had if we brought D Martin into the environment the club was at that time?

Draft Behind The Scenes - First 15 Hours as a Draftee
This would be an amazing idea - obviously with the proviso that the draftees still at our club are OK with any frank discussion of them included in the content!

Welcome to Demonland: Aidan Johnson
I am definitely a nuffie for a good old-fashioned country footballer. Those tackles in some of these highlight videos are things of beauty. Can take a mark with the ball kicked on his head, so may actually function in the MFC forwardline. All aboard the 'Peaches' Johnson train

2024 Phantom Drafts
Long-term, it means they don't weaken their draft hand for next year, but rather enhance it. Kako is essentially a first round pick this year, however if he wasn't bid on before pick 9, they'd only have 31 and 54, therefore taking their first pick next year into deficit. This way, they still get three first-round picks, albeit a slightly lesser one this year, plus a couple of picks in the 40's this year, as opposed to 2 picks in the 70's. It makes some sense, but next year you can trade out 2 years in the future. If MFC keep trading out future firsts, there's literally no downside for us. So while looking at it like this it seems a 'win-win', I'd much prefer to be in our position. Edit: Don't get me wrong, @DubDee, I'll also be laughing at Essendon

The Power of Social Media in the AFL
And how many posters on this board have KPIs in their job relating to social media engagement? Blind Freddy can see that MFC are lagging behind in these areas. As SWYL has said, and Ethan has added above, these are important metrics, both with sponsorship, and converting these views to support/membership. The more money we get through this sort of thing, the less we have to go cap in hand to the AFL. And saying extra spending on footy is all well and good, but there is a soft cap on these areas. Not so much in back-office roles. If they're not bringing in money, they're the most easily removed positions. Bring in a couple of social-media focused roles, even if they're fixed-term to start with. I hear there may be some budding ones either in or around the squad....... (too soon?)

2024 Phantom Drafts
But clubs also know that Twomey is putting out content consistently in the days before the draft. All part of the many moving pieces in play that make the draft the intriguing event we all obsess over. Maybe those rumours were floated so that Richmond would 'beat us' to Bo Allan so that we could pick up a more preferred option. It's all smoke and mirrors until the picks are read out

Decline in the number of Indigenous players in the AFL
It's honestly a lovely tapestry of all 5, however I think this is the biggest point. The AFL are terrible at the grassroots growth of the game, and taking it out of the hands of the lower levels is a HUGE mistake.

Assuming we keep 5 & 9, who are you picking?
And as you already know, rpfc, it's not a reach if you think he's the best player for the club/list when the pick comes. Just because the 'expert media' see it as a reach, doesn't mean it is. Although we all know optics is important, actual outcomes are even more so.

Assuming we keep 5 & 9, who are you picking?
I'd prefer Tufnel at 79

PRESEASON TRAINING: Wednesday 13th November 2024
Thanks ww. If these quibbles were enough to get even to you, then we KNOW they have to be there.
