  1. Not if we want to move forward as a club.
  2. That's what Scott is doing- trying to save his job. The difference between he and Goodwin is that Geelong has a core group of quality players that can still drag their team over the line. Not to mention a significant home ground advantage where they generally draw weaker teams that they easily beat up on. And given the state of play, Geelong will continue to make the finals for the next 2-3 years, but the locals are sick of "just making finals", the want a flag because they know that in the next year or two, that core group of players that have constantly won games for them are going to be gone. If you take a look at their playing list, the pool is very shallow at the 24-and-under end. I rate that young Clark kid, I'll reserve my judgement about Miers until the end of next year, but other than that, they don't have much else coming through. And due to his refusal to move on the likes of Ablett and Taylor, as well as bringing in quick fixes like Rohan and Jenkins, it's pushing players like Buzza out.
  3. Don't read too much in to that Trav - Chris Scott would see the Buzza vs Jenkins debate very one-sided. He (Scott) is like a teenage druggy looking for his next quick fix. He knows he needs a premiership in 2020, otherwise the locals will start during the place down to get rid of him. And because of this, Buzza wouldn't get a look in because Scott knows what Jenkins can offer and is willing to play safe than take a risk with a big, developing kid.
  4. No thanks. Other than the fact that deal, points wise (which I don't really GAF about TBH), is heavily in our favour, I'd prefer us to take the 8th best kid in the draft instead of the 14th and 17th. Not only that, I'd hate Wells to get his grubby little hands on a pick that high, which will only make them stronger. Try again.
  5. I've only gone backwards from my younger days...
  6. Propose something Oli, because how I see the draft order/what clubs have, nothing looks appealing to me at all. And please don't give me anything to do with next year's first round. It's so highly compromised that we are either playing with teams that need their top selections for academy/father-son picks, or are going to finish higher up the ladder meaning their first round pick will blow out significantly. We must go in to this year with Pick 3 and 8. Convince me otherwise.
  7. Now that the dust has settled somewhat on the trade period (especially the ability mouse players in potential movements), I'm firmly in the camp of no f-ing way should we split Pick 3. There is nothing that GWS could realistically offer us that would make me want to give them a Top 3 player as well as Green. And if this Green bloke is so good, then I'd be happy for him to be playing for us than them. Then we still get to add some cream on top at 8. We are crying out for more top end talent. We've got more of a chance of getting that at Pick 3, than having two cracks at it in the Pick 8-15 range.
  8. I'm happy to put my hand up. 2 year deal, minimum wage (I'm happy to take a hit on what I'm on now). A couple of years of free tracksuits, dieticians, personal trainers, and any free goodies that some of the stars are happy to throw my way. I won't even request a trade at the end of next season or the one after. Also happy to put up with 2 years of fan criticism on Demonland. Just call me the modern day Lucas Cook.
  9. This is where I will forever scratch my head at this time of the year. This isn't having a direct go at you, Buck, but there seems to be this theory that 2 picks at the later end of the Top 15 are better than pick 3. I'd be taking pick 3 every day of the week over something like 11 & 15. Not only that, the theory is that trading away Pick 3 to someone like GWS, so that they can use that pick to get someone, AS WELL AS this Green kid. So in effect, we are actually making them stronger while diluting our own picks. It makes absolutely no sense to me, but then I'm not the one on the big dollars sitting in the Football Department.
  10. If he's not up to it "Yet", then we are fast running out of time for him to get there. Yes, he's still young enough, but he really needs to cement his spot this year.
  11. I have no opinion on the actual trade, but I always find it amazing how some things play out. When we lost Frawley, we went after Frost as his replacement. Fast forward a few years and now Frost and Frawley will be playing along side each other but not at Melbourne!
  12. There's a sense of excitement in your posts about what Smith could bring to the team in 2020. "X Factor", "Defensive Forward Threat", terms like this would imply that you think he is capable of playing a role in our senior team. What I'm implying is that if we are relying on players like Joel Smith to play a role, and make those contributions that you allude to, then we're not in a great position going in to '20. Even at 100% fit, Smith should be a long way down the pecking order is we are even entertaining the idea of a rise back up the ladder. Quite simply, he's just not that good.
  13. Pretty easy to make sense of - you think he has AFL qualities, and I don't. Not sure why the confusion. I feel the same way about Smith as I do both Wagners. If they play regular senior footy in 2020, we're clearly bottom 4 material again. Binman, you really need to raise your standards.
  14. Seriously, has our list got that bad that we are looking forward to Joel Smith returning from injury? If so, 2020 is going to be another long year.
  15. While a trade (between Geelong and West Coast/Freo) will most likely happen, there are other ways for it not to;; 1. If Kelly wants to go to West Coast, but West Coast can't meet the demands of Geelong, then Kelly could sit out for 12 months and get to them as a delisted free agent I believe (similar to what Cam McCarthy, although McCarthy was contracted to GWS the year he sat out). 2. If Geelong aren't happy with what West Coast offer, and Freo make them an offer that they are happy with, Kelly could refuse and just nominate for the draft. West Coast will need to trade up the draft order, so as long as they have a pick before Freo, then they can use that pick on him. (Not saying this will happen, but they could offer Gaff and Pick 13 to us for Pick 2, then they use Pick 2 on Kelly). In this scenario, Geelong lost Kelly for nothing, and the Eagles lost a first round pick and a (very good) player. As I said, the likely scenario will be a complicated trade between Geelong and West Coast, but if Geelong be silly about it, there's options to shaft them.
  16. I'd love Kelly to demand West Coast, so that Geelong don't get the best deal! He's uncontracted, so he has some bargaining power, and it might mean West Coast trade up their selections to get him in the preseason draft, rather than giving Geelong the earth to get him.
  17. I would imagine the hope will be that all the supporters that have whinged about the Darwin game will actually go to the home game that has returned to Victoria (presumably at Marvel). Would be interesting to know what crowd numbers we would need for the returned game (most likely vs Freo/West Coast/Port) to make it more profitable than selling one game to Darwin.
  18. The best parts about this news; 1. North must've upped their offer considerably, and when you add that to Goldstein also staying, means their bucket is a bit lighter 2. Geelong miss out on someone they were expecting to just walk in to their club. Arrogant knobs.
  19. History will show that the toughest road trip for most MFC supporters/members is crossing the Yarra and heading down to Docklands.
  20. Ding, why have you included a Tom Stewart gif in here?
  21. Don't forget to look at the state of our own backyard before worrying too much about the state of next door's roses...
  22. Ethan, I think him playing last week was more about the processes that ASADA have in place. From what I understand (which is limited), I think when it was flagged by the collection officer, ASADA are then required to fast-track the case. We're only talking a couple of weeks. Given how long the Essendon saga went on for, for ASADA to notify the AFL 23 days after the event, I think is quite good (remembering that ASADA covers more than just Willie weeing in a bottle). This article explains is somewhat... https://www.news.com.au/sport/sports-life/five-key-questions-surrounding-riolis-botched-drugtest-ruse/news-story/ad6a73e47010275d6b1ac449d25def1a
  23. I'm sure if you re-read what I actually have written, you will realise how many errors you have just posted. Have a good day, Adem.
  24. Are you suggesting that the AFL tipped-off ASADA about needing to do the collection on a Tuesday? Think you are misunderstanding what I wrote - what other people are questioning is how it (the tampering) could've happened given it was in front of a collector.
  25. Read through the 6 pages of this thread and see how many have added the "bring him home" as part of their reasoning for wanting him.
