PJ - 2010 wasn't our worst year, 2009 was by a long, long way. $cully, Trengove, Gysberts and Tapscott all taken with picks <20. This core group should be still playing together, and would be now in to their 4th season at the club. We have 2 left, and are both a long way from where they should be given the time they have been in the system. In every respect, season 2009 has hurt this club so much, and we are still paying for it today (ie tanking fine).

This is coming from the president of the Dean Kent Fan Club. FFS, Kent has played 4 games in the VFL, and was "6th" best in one of them. I love Kent as much as the next bloke, but let's give the bloke a game when he earns it. NB - I know you didn't include Kent in your second team.
-
Just so you know, I was joking too about Dawes writing for The Age. I figured that as he strongly dislike nearly all of their football writers, that I it was relevant to jokingly question why he would lower himself to write for the same paper.
-
I'll take it further than that and ask WTF is he writing in The Age for?

The difference between a pick #4 & pick #48
The Chazz replied to ashdemons22's topic in Melbourne Demons
Toumpas played very well in the game at the Gold Coast. I was there and was quite impressed with both he and Matt Jones, and said on here that based on that performance, they both should play Round 1. Kent has had 1 game at Casey where he was in the best (and it was 6th best too, not BOG). He clearly has things that he needs to work on, and when he starts doing that consistently, he will get a call up. We couldn't play all the debutants in Round 1, so some had to miss out, and I'm happy that it wasn't Matt Jones. -
Anyone know what our average age/games played was in 2011? Just asking...

Welcome back Benny.

Yes, that's the way, promoted someone because they took 4 bounces and kicked a goal. 1 piece of brilliance and average for the remainder, just what the senior team needs. I rely on the player review on the MFC website and I look at the VFL website for stats and best players/goal scorers, both of which seem to give a pretty accurate assessment of a player. That said, Kent isn't quite pushing for senior selection at this stagte. Compare it to Tappy when he got dropped.

Biff, I think that's the scariest/amazing part for me. She was eased down in most of her races, and I'm buggered if I recall her "button" ever being pressed. The TJ Smith 2 years back was probably the only time I can remember that Nolen had to ask her to go (apart from Ascot, which were probably different circumstances due to injury), and wow, did she go. I still think that's her best win out of the 25. I remeber when Ben Melham rode her one day at Flemington, can't remember why - I think Nolen may have been suspended. BC kicked clear (as she did), but Melham still rode her out. She didn't like it, swished her tail a few times. She knew she was in no danger and didn't appreciate Melham whipping her. An amazing racehorse, an honour to be able to go through the rest of my life having experienced it. And will be a great topic of conversation over a beer when trying to work out if she was the greatest ever.

The issue was that the AFL asked if were linked with Dank in any way, not just any specialist, and we said that weren't (in a nutshell).
-
So far, Dean Kent has played to "real" VFL games, his first was nothing special, and his 2nd he found himself rated as the 6th best player for Casey. I would like to see Kent get a run in the seniors when he is consistently in the top 2 or 3 for BOG. Perform like this over a month and you get rewarded.

Mine are justified.

Paul, sorry if this sounds rude, but read the bloody articles. The issue is what we told the AFL, and they are ropable. There is no issue with what we injected. Going by Vlad's comments on 3AW, if we have mislead them in any way, and let's face it, if they get confirmation that the SMS' were real, then Vlad has just said that there is a rule that we have breached.
-
You are unjustifingly attacking another poster. You should be banned. Edit - I'm talking about deeZee, not me.
-
Listening to Vlad on 3AW at the moment, that's his big thing, and if he finds out that we have, we're screwed.

Based on that, Bail HAS to be sub. Disclaimer; I only saw 2 1/2 qtrs from Bail on Saturday. Yes, he got a head knock, yes, he didn't play for 20 minutes, or so, but I watched him very closely when he came back on when "fit", his inability to run hard (fitness), and his lack of football knowledge is a real concern for me. Fitness can be improved, being footy "dumb" is something I hope he can change when the former is achieved.
-
I'm sick of your crap pal. DeeZee asked a question that he/she obviously had heard a rumour about but didn't know if their was anything to it. They didn't make the statement as fact, so enough of the smart arse comments.

One concern for me, and I don't think it has been brought up, is the fact that in one of the alledged text messages, Dank mentions that we can use a certain treatment as a tax write-off and will earn the Club big bucks. I can't see the ATO sticking their head in the sand like that good chap, Satyriconhome.
-
I wonder if Chris Connolly made a joke about us needing to take drugs to improve?
-
You're a strange rooster that's for sure. I think the biggest issue that most of us, and the media have, is the fact that we denied any association with Dank, other than rejecting him for a job. It's not about what was injected (or what cream was rubbed in), that's a player welfare concern some supporters have, it's the fact that one of those text messages even asks for a player to call Dank, yet our claims earlier this year say the exact opposite.
-
Did she not break the Flemington record earlier this year in the race named after herself?
-
Not at all. It's a proud day for racing - the fact that those associated in the industry, and the general Australian public, had the honour of being able to see a truly remarkable story. This chapter has closed, but the Black Caviar story will last our life time.

But if someone decided to start a new thread on "supporter culture", you would whinge that this topic has been done to death, and that supporters need to get over it or stop supporting the club. If I had an Ignore List, you'd be the mayor. For the very few posters that I could add to it, I hold out hope tha tone day, they may just say something that is worthy of me reading. I'm sure that day will come...
