  1. ... i don't think we're irrelevant, and they don't think we're irrelevant
  2. I agree with some things you are saying, but generally i find on the couch to be ok. Just because a club is going through a bad patch on and off the field doesn't mean that their immune to criticism, just ask st.kilda after that whole... naked photo business. Unfortunately, the media will continue to kick us until we get up, regardless of weather it's on the couch or on other footy shows. I'm actually surprised that people think we get singled out OTC, there are plenty of journalists and commentators who dig the boots in a hell of a lot more i.e Walls, Shaw, Dunstall etc. OTC can be critical, but it would be fairly boring otherwise i think. I for one don't want sympathy, i don't want free rides and i do want people to be held accountable, which is starting to happen. But we're still in a transition stage, and as long as you're down the bottom of the ladder, externally things will look like they're not working even when they are. Just take solace in the fact that it's just their opinion, and opinions are like.... what's that saying again?
  3. I say this quite often when i read your posts RR, and i don't think ive ever meant it as much as i do right now Good god!
  4. Just so i can get all the facts right, you are saying - Some people at Melbourne don't like Schwab, i.e vet players, board members. - Those people have complained about schwab to Healy Sheahan about the way money is going to be spent on players. - Together, Healy and Sheahan get Mclean on "on the couch" to ask him about why he left Melbourne to ignite a discussion about the tanking debate, and who was to blame for the decisions. - All this is done to unseat Schwab and prevent the spending of money on players who the conspirators don't think we need.
  5. ok so even if they are doing all this to bring Melbourne down insurgent style... do you think that this is because they just don't Melbourne and Schwab? As a general sceptic of football conspiracies, I have a hard time believing why they would even bother. I mean, i watch OTC most weeks, and sometimes they can go over the line, but generally their criticism is warranted.
  6. So am I to believe that some people in here think that they asked Brock McLean why he left in Melbourne as a round about way of trying to get rid of Schwab as ceo over the tanking issue?.... That's pretty thin.
  7. 1. Well it would be a shite side better than having to see through all the crap that is usually droned out by AD and AFL officials 2. if he's a dial a quote, why are you so outraged? This whole "Paul gardner you dog," stuff is so over the top, nothing is going to happen 3. Coke, pepsi. Similar but different. Pot, kettle, black.
  8. Get down off your high horse, and stop trying to talk about the "real world" your on a football forum. Gardiner probably would've been called by SEN to comment, Mclean would've been asked to comment. They gave different yet similar answers. My point is, Gardiner at least for me, hasn't been seen or heard of since he walked away. It will not be forgotten? who cares? he's an ex president weighing in. I'll tell you what was forgotten, Paul Gardiner. Oh and when she does ask, i don't have to lie. That's my "real world"
  9. Come off it, honestly. This whole best game in the world business is so single minded, and you may say "well that's just my opinion" but so many people count it as fact. It's like Americans saying that the MLB finals are the "World Series" and then the USA team get pumped by Columbia or something. I'm really frustrated by this whole mentality of they've done a good job. To make money? yes, but at the expense of the integrity of the game. There are countless issues within the AFL that are so corrupt and contrived it has really affected the pubic perception of the game, or well at least for me and people i talk to about it. The whole game is controlled by the media and a small group of loud fans with a knee jerk reaction to one off relatively small events. Just because Mark robinson writes an article saying he doesn't like sling tackles doesn't mean you change the rules. I love this whole, "well they are making money hand over fist and clubs are now secure" argument. They're financially secure because they robbing you.
  10. haha, what has he done since then? i mean really guys, this is just the same as Mcclean, he was asked a question and he answered. Although it could hurt MFC in the long run, i for one find it strangely refreshing that people are talking openly
  11. Well, i've been avoiding it but... i'll miss you big fella... i love those dee's, and i love the mfc, and nothing symbolizes the MFC quite like J Stynes does. Can' Wait to sing the grand ol flag
  12. Wasn't there a topic recently about how we overuse the word elite in the football community? I think this is one of those times. Realistically if we have 1 great, if we have 2 we should be over the moon.
  13. Thanks JCB, A question I have is what makes you think that viney is ready to play this year specifically. I usually hear he is ready to play mostly on his physique alone, is there any specifics? Cheers
  14. For these symptoms I diagnose 1 geography lesson
  15. ... You know you can just drink absynthe yeah? Cut out the middle man
  16. Honestly, it's like we're in the comment section of an Andrew Bolt collum
  17. Soooo.... footy season should be good yeah?
  18. I understand, and i think we agree. It is surprising when you look back and think, nobody has mentioned him for the job, then you look at his playing ability and think... wait why hasn't he been mention for it. I like it
  19. Bartram yes, but i find Garland a little under-appreciated in public and on this site. He never seems to get the same accolades for playing well even though he generally has the same amount of affect on a game as say a Frawley would. I think Garland in the leadership group is one of the more refreshing elements to come out of this announcement
  20. Yep, and here's the podcast, Don Mclardy talking about Lyon, Sugar Healy and a little about Stynes too Tuck in guys http://www.sen.com.au/audioplayer/Audio/Melbourne-Vice-President-Don-McLardy/3735
