it's quality not quantity. Neeld needs to bring players in who are grateful for the chance to play league footy. ie., Couch. changes for next week shouldn't stop at just cutting some players...it should mean playing players in other positions. ie., Mitch Clark in the ruck and push some stronger runners and better skilled players into the backline.

Neeld has got the team balance wrong. We went to tall against the lions. Our team doesn't have the skills yet to utlise all the talls. We need more gut runners.

At least we lost first round...Now people can adjust there expectations accordingly. Mark Neeld cannot work miracles. But by round 6 we should have some idea of what Neeld has done in his time at the club. Grant Thomas is no better than Aker with his comments. Can't believe he is on tv. What a joke.

Maybe not guns,,,aka Chris Judd but there always seems to be players available ever year...For example Mitch Clark, Luke Ball, David Hale, etc... Melbourne has a huge hole in mid to high range tallented players..like David Hale.

In the coming draft we have 3 first round picks...I assume one will be for Jack Viney and I hope we trade the other two for ready made guns!

i wish his dad or a close family memeber would come out and appeal to the media not to publish any stories on Ben Cousins. It's a very sad situation to be honest. All this media attention is not justified. He doesn't play AFL anymore. The guy is suffering from Drug addictions and Mental Health issues. Let him get on with his treatment in peace.

i once heard Todd Viney talk about game plans....he said that teams like geelong play the way they want...regardless of who they play. He said there tactics are well known but they are just so good that they don't care how the opposition play.

not entirely true...some of Geelongs senior players are champions/match winners etc. Our senior players are just other players that wouldn't get a match for the cats...only Jamar, Mitch Clark and Frawley would get a game for the cats..imo

Dean Bailey was the biggest mistake. All he did was tank to finish last...got rid of the older guys, didn't play them, give them or give them a chance...he wasn't able to educate the younger players. His legacy was the flogging we received down in geelong...and exactly why he lost his job.

It's very easy to compare Slyvia and Travis Johnstone. I should shop Slyvia around at the end of this year.

Can we trade the activated picks? I say we trade for another ready made player. We have lost our recruiting manager. It's a no brainer really...lets use the picks to secure players who can make an impact.

i think you are forgetting about these players...they all come from other clubs. Josh Gibson, David Hale, Shaun Burgoyne,Cameorn Bruce, Brent Querra, Jack Gunston, Kyle CheneyBurgoyne Before people start rubbishing some of the players...please remember that the hawks had no issue getting them to come over.. Gibson, Burgoyne, Bruce and Guston all publicly requested to be traded to the hawks. Something that hasn't happend at the demons for a very long time!

The hawks keep adding senior players to their list each year. People should be talking about Mitch Clark. in my opinion he has already made a big impact with the dees. He's in the leadership group and kicking goals. Melbourne has struggled to attract ready made footballers. Mitch Clark cost us our first round draft pick and a heap of cash. Money well spent...must be repeated during the next trade period. I'm not saying we need to go after Travis Cloke...We could go after Tippett from the Crows.

What a joke...1 out of 6 players listed as 'Free agents' is in our leadership group. I blame dean bailey for this.
