  1. Yes but why? To deflect attention from the players and coaches. Extremely weak to attack your supporters who are there through thick and thin (even if they do whinge) and have no voice in the media to defend themselves.
  2. No, he's just deflecting attention from where it should be targeted. The problem is this time he has chosen an extremely poor choice to shift the dialogue towards as the supporters have put up with enough [censored] for years/decades without now being told their too negative. Shift the dialogue back towards the pathetic performances of our professional players and give the supporters a break.
  3. Right or wrong is not the issue. Roos and to a lesser extent Jackson should not be [censored] on the supporters who still care enough to be negative in the first place. Would they rather apathy? These guys need to focus on being professionals and getting the players to act like professionals with all that entails. Deflections like we've seen throughout the course of Roos' tenure is extremely poor form especially putting some blame on the supporters. I like Roos and think he is part of the solution but this deflecting [censored] has got to stop. Blaming prior admins to protect the players is one thing, blaming the supporters is another thing altogether. Don't [censored] where you eat.
  4. Well said mate - how many other clubs would continue to have the level of support/members we have after the decade we've had? I would guess our 36k members this year is similar if not better to what we had in 2006/07.
  5. Cripps now favourite but I've still got faith in Hogan. Fyfe/Hogan double now paying $3.85 pretty tasty.
  6. I'm not a Gardner supporter by any stretch but he is correct when he says aiming for 7 wins is modest. At the start of every season the aim should be to make finals, no less. You reassess as you go but to say winning 7 games is a pass is downright demoralising. No wonder the players are disenchanted when their bosses have such little faith to set such dismal targets. Also saying that 10 wins were "promised" is disingenuous. A target is a target not a promise to supporters.
  7. We have a defeatist attitude because the team we support is constantly defeated. What do you want, everyone to turn up to training in a hippy drum circle singing kum-ba-yah after yet another 10 goal plus defeat, another year of losing more than one in every three games? The supporters negativity doesn't drive the shithouse performances of so-called professional athletes, the horrible performances of the team drives thesupporters negativity. These guys want to be paid like professionals to play a game, then they can cop the scrutiny that comes with it. Act like a pro, deal with it and focus on improving your woeful performances. Otherwise next time it won't be negativity it will be downright apathy. Not that I think for one second any of them truly give a damn about that - maybe 2 or 3 but certainly not the vast majority. They'll just move on to another club for another paycheck. Look at how Freo dealt with Colin Sylvia. If we had the depth there would be a number of players we should be treating in the same manner. Unfortunately we struggle to cover injuries at all let alone being able to drop someone like Howe for being a lazy piece of [censored].
  8. Exactly swyl - PJ said the club had lost the trust if it's supporters - well we're still hanging around like a battered spouse but our trust has yet to be regained.
  9. There's no reason they couldn't have if they were mentally strong enough. If they brought consistency of effort they could have beaten Essendon, St. Kild, North, Dogs and Blues. The only "iffy" one was the Dogs considering it was at Etihad but we did beat them by 40 points earlier in the year. It's all between the ears, unfortunately too many of our squad have little more than air there.
  10. No. Did Geelongs supporters all of a sudden "harden the [censored] up" in 2007? Or were they merely ancillary to the club, little more than season ticket holders of a professional sports team who drove their success internally? Dud Hawthorns supporters all of a sudden drop off a cliff between 1996-2006? These are professional athletes, their success or otherwise is dependent on them, their teammates and their coaches. We ride the wins and losses like a roller-coaster but at the end of the day we have little influence on the performance of the team.
  11. We could've won 9 of our last 10. It wasn't likely but it was certainly possible (ok maybe 8 now that West Coast have proved to be the real deal.)
  12. Why so Cranky, Franky?
  13. Is that for all games or just Friday nights? His answer to that question was pretty equivocal in my mind...
  14. They kicked the first 12 goals. That's unacceptable in anyone's language. That's first year GC/GWS stuff.
  15. Pitmaster, we beat this mob earlier in the year by 40 points. It's all between the ears and unfortunately our players are still mentally weak.
  16. You really think not giving us a PP in 2013/14 is going to stop them giving one to another club like the Lions after one or two bad years? This is the AFL, they're almost as corrupt as the LNP.
  17. If it's anything like what ive had this week it knocked me for six for about 3-4 days. Highly contagious too, almost everyone I know has copped it.
  18. Talk about weird shape for a basketball player, check out Vince Wilforks moves in the first ep of Hard Knocks last week.
  19. So happy this kid is back. I love watching him play, he has toughness/aggression and class. Above all he is a footballer, not an athlete. We've really missed him this year and hopefully his poise will straighten us up a bit transitioning from half back.
  20. Have a look at the AFL kids merchandise at Target next time you go. Compare ours to the other clubs. There's your problem.
  21. Don't stress about his body type this kid is gonna be a machine. Along with Viney, Brayshaw and Vanders teams who play us will be well and truly "bruised" for the next decade.
  22. The mascots are a key part of selling the club to kids. The Demon is a great image, ferocious and feared I have no idea why we wouldn't use this. Look at the current kids merchandise with the current emblem - what kid wants a schoolbag/tshirt etc with that on it over a Tiger or Magpie? Kids want merchandise with mascots on them, not shields. I agree we should have two like the Cats, the interlocked MFC for corporate/official affairs and a Demon logo for kids merchandise.
  23. Haha even Brock McLean, James Kelly and Nathan Carroll were getting in on the action. Not very well liked amongst the players is that drunk weasel Robbo
  24. When will they realise they need a logo with a DEMON on it that kids will want to wear/have on their merchandise?
  25. Umm he was pretty good against the Pies last week.
